  1. We were on the Liberty Thanksgiving cruise as well. I would agree with the OP regarding most of what was said. Also, for what it's worth, my wife and I were in a regular old balcony cabin on deck 8 and we paid around 3400 for the room and pre-paid gratuities. No beverage package or anything like that, so I think the OP got a good deal at 6000 for two rooms and beverage packages... :) We still had a good time though.

    Highlights for me:

Trying the flowrider for the first time. At 53, I was just trying to not break anything... it was fun though. :)

The workout room is in great shape too. There was plenty of cardio equipment/weight machines and they all seemed well maintained and operational.

Melvin in the Rbar was the best bartender (Mixologist) I've ever met. He went way above and beyond to make sure we were happy and when the bar was slow he would come out and mingle with whoever was in there. If you get on the Liberty and like a special drink, look for Melvin.

We had Chef's Table one night and that was the best food I've ever eaten on a cruise ship. I would recommend that as well.

The one thing that I was really, really disappointed in was the breakfast we had in the MDR. I ordered egg whites, turkey sausage, hash browns and a piece of toast. The egg whites were super greasy, the hash browns were cool and soggy. I tasted the hash browns anyway and they had a slight flavor of fish... The toast was probably actually toasted an hour earlier and had the taste/consistency of cardboard. We had a cup of coffee and then went up to the Windjammer and ate. I'm sure if I ordered 'real' food, it would have probably been better.

Anyway, didn't mean for this to get so long. All in all nothing killed our vacation and I still came home with a tan, a slightly damaged liver and good memories.

  2. We just got off a cruise on the AOS and it was fantastic. I thought the main dinning room food was great. The service in the Windjammer was lacking a bit, but I figure it's technically a buffet and I can pretty much get my own drinks. Philip and the rest of the crew in the Champagne bar were tops. In my opinion, they made the best drinks on the ship. There was some holiday called 3 Kings going on and there were a lot of locals on board to celebrate. After we got used to some cultural differences it was no biggie.

This was the 4th cruise we've done out of San Juan and probably the last for a while. The cost and time it takes to get there for us is just getting to be too much. 12 hours of flying/sitting in airports and the fact that the price of tickets just about double the cost of the cruise has done it in for us. I think the next cruise we do will be out of Galveston.
