  1. I like math but there's a limit. The package is worth it to me because my wife and I can order anything at anytime and not care. That peace of mind makes vacation fun. Then again, when they give you the package for free how can you go wrong?

I agree with this. The convenience of not having to sign for every drink and having what we want when we want is worth a lot to us. We probably drink more water, soda and specialty coffee than we woudl have otherwise.

  2. I don't know about the Cellar itself, but I know it wasn't accepted in the machines at all.

As far as me cheating. Yes I did cheat. I will admit it. Am I bragging, no, I'm just making a truthful statement about my experience and I can tell you that a lot of other people were doing as well. The whole discussion was whether or not purchasing the package was worth it. So I was just elaborating on my experience. To each their own. I dont think I was "stealing" from the cruise line. Frankly, most of the bartenders knew what I was doing and didnt give me a hassle about it. I had no issue using my own card if need be.

    Edited to add:

Cheating...Inst it cheating if you bought the drink package and cancelled it and then bought it again when it went on sale?? Thats "cheating and bragging" too.

This type of cheating/stealing is the reason some cruise lines insist that everyone in a cabin purchase the drink package if anyone does. This is the type of behavior that will force Celebrity to do the same.

  3. When we took the premium Beverage Package on the Millenium, our normal bill had every time we ordered (with a few exceptions) on it already, it was just invoiced at $0. I did have to remember what we had to drink, but it did allow me to estimate our actual cost versus the cost if we had paid per drink. We were up about $30 a person.

  4. Our last cruise was a short 4 night and we took the premium package to see if it was worth it to us. From a non-cash perspective, it was very nice not to have to sign slips everytime we got something. Our Sommelier kept our glasses full and remembered our preferences each evening. As was stated earlier, with very few on-board purchases, it was very asy to check our bill before leaving the ship.

From a cost perspective, we did take advatage of soem of the non-alcohol options which we had not in the past. I like Coke but normally do not buy it onboard, with the drink package I did. My partner thinks the coffee at the buffet and from room service is awful, so I want to Cafe Blanco to get him coffee each morning. We also were more likely to have a beer with lunch or a late cocktail while walking on deck. We never worried about it and that was very nice. When we got back I did check to see how we came out and we did come out slightly ahead (less than $30 per person). even if we came out a few dollars short, I thinkit was worth it to us.

On a normal day we probably had coffee and Coke in the mornings, beer with lunch if we were back onboard, drinks in the casino before or after dinner, a cocktail with friends before dinner at the martini bar, wine with dinner, and maybe an after dinner drink.

Ok maybe we do enjoy a cocktail a little too much

We did purchase the premium drink package for our upcoming December cruise. For our November TA, we may wait until we start the sea days to sign up and just pay for the last 7 nights of the cruise. We have not made a decision on that yet.

  5. We are on the Celebrity Silhouette in March for a 7 day Caribbean cruise with my parents (their Christmas present from us). In the fall we are on a 14 night TA from Barcelona on the Celebrity Equinox. We are flying in early to spend a few days in Barcelona. Looking forward to relaxing sea days before the hustle of Christmas. We may have to find one more short cruise to get us through the summer, but nothing specific right now.

  6. I agree that Michael Thomas Ford and all the tales of the City books are good vacation reads. I would not classify the Michael Thomas Ford books as fluff, but not masterpiece theatre either. They are happily in between. I also enjoyed "Like People in History" by Felice Picano.
