  1. We'll be on the Triumph for the first time in Sept. We've sailed the Fascination a few times, the Fantasy & last year the Dream. Very excited to be sailing the Triumph especially after seeing those awesome pictures. I haven't seen a lobby like the one pictured on any Carnival ship that we've sailed so far.

I started a Roll Call for our sailing so hoping some others join soon. :)

  2. We'll be in Cayman in Sept. on the Carnival Dream from 7am - 4pm. What times do the tours for Sting Ray City United start?

I have purchased the faster to the fun perk so we should be able to get off the ship pretty early and I would like to be in the first tour that morning if possible.

And how long did you get to spend with the stingrays and how long on the nature trails with the birds? Did you feel very rushed or was this adequate?

    thanks in advance,

    Helen

  3. I booked my Dream Sept 20, 2015 Cove back in Nov 2014. For the 3 of us our total, including taxes & port fees, came to $1812.00 with a $50.00 OBC. This will be our first Cove and I was happy with that price.

I have watched the price steadily climb to over $2200.00 a couple weeks ago, and now when I do the mock booking I don't even get the Cove balcony option any longer. I assume that means there are none available now?

  4. I have 2273 booked on the Dream in Sept. Since it's the first Cove forward I wondered if there's a tendency to get more ocean spray up there? I picked it thinking the location would be quieter but now am worried that it will be too wet.

    Any experiences?

    Thanks,

    Helen

  5. Newlife, Congrats on your upgrade and your terrific attitude!! It's ironic how some people try to pick apart & over analyze every word, and end up being incorrect themselves!! You seem to be an optimistic person who sees the positive side of things which is refreshing!

And from my experience, I loved having a room on Empress near the Atrium and being centrally located. And sailing solo was a wonderful experience that I will never forget. I am sure you will enjoy yourself to the fullest!

    Happy Travels!

  6. I posted this on the Solo Cruisers board but thought someone here might be interested too.

I was just searching cruises on Carnival.com and noticed a couple of great SOLO deals for Feb 2014.

The 5 day out of Jax on 2/08/14 is charging for an interior $259.00 Past Guest Rate with a $60.00 bar credit (total $324.91 after port fees & taxes). Ports of call are Nassau & HMC.

The 5 day out of Charleston, SC on 2/11/14 is charging for an interior $299.00 Past Guest Rate with a $60.00 bar credit (total $378.30 after port fees & taxes). Ports of call are Nassau & HMC.

I thought I was seeing things because the dates before and after these sailings are much higher for solo but maybe there's some reason these are so cheap?

  8. Back in October we stayed one night at the http://www.jacksonvilleplazahotel.com/. They provided a shuttle to & from the cruise port and allowed us to park our car at the hotel while we were on the cruise.

The hotel was not fancy but the room was decent & they had a continental breakfast (cereal, bagels, fruit, oatmeal & coffee) the next morning.

It was a little over $70.00 total for all that. Not a bad deal.

  9. I just returned from my 1st solo cruise and I went into it with the intention of meeting new people whenever possible.

Upon embarkment, I went to the MDR & inquired about my Early Seating Dining assignment. I asked the Maitre D to ensure that I was seated at a large table with many fellow diners (solo if possible). It worked out perfectly! I was seated with 5 other solos & a married couple! Out of the 5 nights on the cruise, almost every night all of us showed up for dinner. I loved this arrangement!

I went to an Afternoon Tea & asked an older couple if I could sit with them. Wonderful conversation!

I went to lots of the shows, trivia, bingo, art auctions, etc. & it was so easy to slide in next to people since it was only me. I tried to start conversations whenever appropriate. Almost everyone I spoke to was very responsive.

I asked people if they would mind using my camera to take my picture? This was most often a conversation starter.

I had a wonderful first solo experience & enjoyed just enough alone time with a great mixture of conversation with fellow passengers. I will not hesitate to book another solo cruise!! :D
