  1. Been reading this thread over the past couple of nights. So if we swim out via the kidney in front of Infinity, and then head south (left), where is it that you can get back to the beach. From what I read, there are many spots where the reef system is too close to the surface, but you don't have to swim back up to the kidney channel system in order to get back to the beach do you?

Just there on Jan 5 - could easily identify the kidney from the beach - went out thru it took a left down almost all the way to the rocks on the far side of Tabyana then I think we may have come back up on a lightly further out edge of the reef - it was way deep but did not seem to have as many visible fish as closer in. We ended up out at a catamaran in the water & then had to try to figure out where to swim thru to get back in - that was the hardest part.

I loved the snorkeling, hated the beach - far too crowded & if you expressed an interest in any of the kids selling stuff you then got swarmed. If you are at the thirsty turtle / bananarama - make sure you bring infant formula powder for local assistance & ask for a 'whatever Steve' at the bar - was a great drink!

  2. We enjoyed Alberto's great tour guide qualities Jan 4. What a great guide and so friendly! Our boat arrived early after getting stormed out of Grand Cayman so there was a little confusion trying to get with him ....not his fault at all and he did end up coming down earlier than originally scheduled.

First we had to stop at a local coffee shop - 2 big coffees & a hot cocoa ran us $12 but was honestly worth it after the stuff they try to pass as coffee on board ship. We had brought a few things for the island orphanage so got to see it from a distance (if only everyone would just bring a bag of gently used clothing to each island..:o..what a difference we all could make!) then off to San Gervasio to tour the ruins.

Had lunch at Coconuts with some friends then took the scenic tour to a tequila farm that taught us how to properly drink tequila (which I now officially like - is that a good thing? :p). Raced in to town for some quick shopping - Alberto took my DS17 to help pick a good gift for his girlfriend & got him a great deal - I should have gone with them! Then back to the boat - over all too soon :(.

Would highly recommend Alberto - he is a gentleman and a kind soul with a big heart for Cozumel. Keep up the great work and hope to cross paths again someday. God bless

  3. Waiting to hear ... last excursion to book for our second ever cruise & finally sent the email to Gerry & crew - so hope they are not fully booked as the reviews of the drivers here on this thread have been outstanding!

Just out of curiosity ....has anyone ever hired a driver for the day in Cozumel that did not work out? Anyone ever gone somewhere on this drive around tour that they wished they had not spent the time at?

  4. emailed Bananarama people today as we have excursion booked for Jan - they don't expect any issues, don't really expect the place to sell too quickly - even if a buyer is found could take years to finalize. Add the classic 'if anything changes, we will let you know' - I'm OK with that reply for now:)

  5. Will be there in January ....trying to decide Bananarama (transportation, chair, a free drink, snorkel stuff & kayak) but maybe more crowded & congested & a little hike to the best snorkeling or Tabyana (chair only - other stuff additional) for my family. I know there are lockers to rent at the first - how about the second? Decisions, decisions.....wish life was always this rough!
