  1. We have a guaranteed Signature Suite Category SY  -- I think because we booked it only three months out.  We had gone on Eurodam to Mexican Riviera in October but ended up going up to San Francisco down the California Coast due to hurricane activity threatening the Mexican Riviera.  So, with the credit we got from them on a future cruise, we decided to try late January hoping to leave nasty weather up here in the foothills of Northern California for the sunny skies of Mexico!  We booked the Signature Suite SY but the stateroom has yet to be assigned.  Has anyone had experience with this situation before?  Contract says they have to give us SY or better. Hoping, ha, to get an upgrade to Neptune or Pinnacle!!!

  2. I can't think of any activities that are an extra charge, unless you are referring to specialty restaurants, which in my opinion are definitely worth a try. I like the =X= specialty restaurants a bit more, but HAL's are a lot less $$. We like Tamarind, and on KDam, Pinnacle was really good. If you are more specific, and let us know what itinerary you are taking, we may be able to be more helpful.

Do you know if the Main Dining Room is open for lunch on Embarkation Day to anyone?

  3. Concierge Class cabins and above get shower gel. Suites get Bulgari.

Really, I would have to get a Concierge Class stateroom to have shower gel? Hmm. I will have to pack my own, glad I'm driving to Seattle for our Alaska cruise, we have a balcony and it would take a lot of 3 oz bottles of repacked shower gel to get me through all those days! So, note to self, don't take a Celebrity Cruise where you have to fly unless you can also afford the higher class of stateroom. Ugh.

  4. Thanks to CC boards, I had my embarkation lunch at Alfredons on Royal last week. Wouldn't have occurred to me to go there. thanks!!!

We are boarding the Ruby Princess in a few weeks and our check in time is not until 1 pm, even though we have a Mini Suite. I will check the site to see if they have an Alfredo's -- is that a non-buffet option that's an alternative to a closed MDR?

  5. Unlimited Open Bar??

    Where did you see it?

I got a flyer in the mail from Norwegian, on the back it says under "Norwegian's Free at Sea" - "Unlimited Open Bar". Trying to find out why it is called this -- we had the Ultimate Beverage Package which excludes "super premium" alcohols and drinks over, if I recall, $12 -- if you buy over, you are charged the difference. But now they call it Unlimited???

  6. So glad to hear that most likely the Tsar's Palace will be open on the Norwegian Jewel when we board her on Sunday, March 26. The person who first posted this says she is boarding on Saturday? I don't think the ship will be there at San Pedro that day. Gosh, I hope I don't have it wrong, I'd have to do a bit of switching around!

  7. We were unable to purchase the Cheers Program on The Magic, we had to wait for Monday morning. It was a discounted program but we were a little disappointed. Now we are gun shy, does this happen on any of the other ships - eg. out of Florida or New Orleans? Does anyone know? Thanks!
