  1. I had one once and loved it. I never thought that it was noisy, even when the band was playing in the Promenade. Mine was on deck 7 on Mariner. I would always be surprised by the noise when i opened the door to leave the room because I couldn't hear it inside the room. The only thing I didn't like was that I had an adjoining room and I could hear noise from the girl next door who was also traveling solo like I was and halfway through the cruise she hooked up with some guy and they were loud and I could hear it through the door between our rooms. I actually just booked a Promenade for a cruise sailing in three weeks. I unfortunatley could only get a connecting room again, so hopefully the person/people next to me will be quieter this time! I wouldn't hesitate to book this type of room. I really liked being able to look down at the Promenade and see what was going on and how busy things were, it was a unique alternative to other room types.

  2. For my cruise just after Thanksgiving last year they had the same promo but only for certain sailings. I seem to remember it went away for a week or so then came back under another name & I booked another shore excursion then. But there’s no guarantee they’ll have the sale again so it’s probably best to buy now. I’m trying to decide whether I really need the drink package this time before the sale ends tonight... 3. For some reason I can’t find the answer I’m looking for, so I’m hoping someone can help me out. Yesterday I booked a cruise leaving in 3 weeks and used a Future Cruise Credit. Since it’s only 3 weeks away I had to pay the whole balance & it said the FCC will be applied later. How long does it usually take & do I get a refund to the card I used or an onboard credit? I also have a lot of points on my RCI Visa to use & not sure what I should cash them in for, towards the fare or OBC & knowing this will help me decide.

    Thanks!

  4. I really, really want to sail out of PR because the cruises coming up are so cheap & it’s my favorite place in the world, but I’m afraid I won’t be able to get off the island afterwards & not sure I feel right going there to enjoy myself when there are people still suffering on the island. I tell myself that my tourist dollars will help the economy, but I think I’m just fooling myself

  5. I’ve been sitting at a bar at this resort during happy hour for about an hour and not one person has approached me and struck up a conversation. If this were a cruise I would have at least three new best friends by now. Cruisers are just so friendly! I’m here for a few days turning an out of state job interview into a vacation, but this just proves to me that cruising is the best way to vacation and that cruisers are the friendliest people around. Can’t wait until my next cruise!!!

  6. Since hotels might be a problem & I live in California, I was contemplating flying to Florida, maybe Miami or Ft Lauderdale, hanging out there a day or two, then flying to SJ the day of the cruise since sail away is later in the day from that port. Has anyone tried this?

  7. I'm really torn on this issue. I'm supposed to sail out of SJ 12/2, but not sure it's a good idea. Will things be open? Will people still be homeless and suffering without water or electricity? I don't think I could relax and enjoy myself knowing people were there with that happening. Normally I would arrive a few days early and or stay a few days after but that doesn't seem possible this time. On the other hand, should I bring my tourist dollars to help the economy? Will there be any relief efforts still going on I could help with? So far I can't decide what to do.

  8. Does anyone know how the Marriott Stellaris in Condado fared in the hurricane? I'm booked to stay there for a week starting next Tuesday & a little worried about getting to the island & back from California & how everybody is doing there. Guess I'm feeling a little guilty at the thought of relaxing in a place where others might be suffering.

  9. Not ALL ice cream has dairy. Ben and Jerry's sells several different kinds. There are other brands as well that make them, but theirs is really goood!

I can't figure out how to post a pic here, but here is the link from last spring.

I'd never even heard of this but I'd try it! I like that it says it's made from almond milk & not soy since I can't have soy. I was on Adventure last week & all they had were the regular Ben & Jerry's ice creams & some sorbet, I didn't see anything like this, unfortunately.

  10. Agree with you 100%. One of the things we were looking forward to on our recent sailing was Chops because we really enjoyed it on other ships. We were told Giovanni's would have the Chops menu. As it turned out, it was a very limited menu (4 items). We had to specifically ask and even then the waiter acted like we offended him. We ordered a mix of items, the food was ok and the service was very slow. Not what I expected from Giovanni's because I had heard it was very good also.

I was surprised to find that the only steak you can get in the MDR now is to get the Chops steak (even though there is no Chops onboard) for $16.95, no more steak nightly on the classics menu. How long has it been that way? I was hoping for the new menus but still the same old tired menus. By day 6 I was really tired of the food. I'm booked on a 13 day next year, not sure what I will do then. This was only my fifth Royal cruise & I'm already tired of their food, can't imagine what people on their 20th cruise do

  11. Just off the ship. mDR chairs looked new but for the most part I would have said the ship was about to go into drydock instead of having just come out. Cabins were not refreshed at all.

I would agree with this. Getting off the ship today & I saw a lot of things that I thought should have been fixed before they add new things. I guess Royal has a different philosophy than me but I believe in fixing the old before adding new things. Some of the things I saw: missing tiles, rust in numerous places, chipped & missing paint, broken toilet seats, broken light fixtures, dirty worn upholstery, torn curtains. These were just the obvious things, it wasn't like I was looking for them. Plus the most disappointing thing was I upgraded to an aft balcony but barely used it because of a disgusting sewage smell that kept wafting around back there. My neighbors were complaining about it too. It definitely ruined what should have been a great experience.

  12. I'm on Adventure right now, waiting to disembark. The other day in the Windjammer there was an old lady that sneezed all over & didn't even try to cover it. Not on the food but while walking around. I ran into a pole trying to get away from her! [emoji37] There are some things you just can't avoid. That's the second time an old lady has sneezed on me in the Windjammer, no joke [emoji40]
