Things have really changed is all that I can say. We were on the Grandiosa in Feb of this year in the Med and the ship was FULL to capacity.
We were on Virtousa this Feb and the ship was not Full, even in May when it was Half term for our schools the ship wasn't full from Southampton, Weather was amazing

We have booked many cruises with MSC and always find great deals on family cabins
just recently i realised if we book as soon as the prices are released we get a better deal in price, maybe not Cabin but as a seasoned cruisers we know when the ship will be full and when it wont
i.e. we booked guranteed Bella inside cabin for February knowing full well in February school half term the ship is never full, whereas in the Summer we always book balcony as the cruise will be full so we want to make sure we have our balcony cabin if we can
was just wondering what others do

Got a great deal on Feb 2025 from Southampton in the school holidays, less than £1000 for four of us
am waiting to see if i can get a good price for July/ August 2025 as seen a 14 night cruise that would be ideal

had a break from MSC catching up the thread.....
that cruise went down to £340pp £530 with the drinks around the 7 May
keep an eye on hotukdeals for other bargain cruises.
MSC reduce prices drastically if the cruise is not full, my MIL booked in May for a single balcony cabin and got a price for £399 for a week in the Fjords

We are going on this cruise Next week, cant wait
we might take some hot chocolate sachets with us as we like a hot chocolate before we go to sleep

As you say most English schools go back that week so probably will not be too bad although there will always be some who will take kids out of school.
We are on Virtuosa next Friday 12th and our cruise and the following one has been deeply discounted by a couple of big cruise agents in the UK for the last few weeks so expecting a fairly busy ship. Imagine they will offer discounts all year if they have lots of availability. We are in YC and I have noticed several people in the FB group saying their upgrade bids for YC have been accepted today so imagine even that will be fairly full.
From what I've read in the group it seems to be only the short cruises and the ones in peak school holidays that get the real complaints though.
We are on that one on the 19th May, not happy it is getting discounted so much as we got a great deal but hoping its not too busy as its just before the school holidays

GTY fare is a guaranteed fare, which means you dont know you cabin until normally 2 weeks before

Where do people find these late deals?
we have a cruise booked for the 19th May and it looks like the price is similar to what we booked over a year ago, we are looking for the same time next year and this time i am thinking of leaving it closer to the time of travel

If you use an on line travel agent they should have easy access to all this info.
is there a travel agent that shows family prices straight away instead of 2 adults prices? I know MSC always have cheap kids places but never seem to find many with other lines
-
how do i know what cruises have the free child places?
or even the £49 or £99 per child
we are a family of four and i saw an 11 days cruise which had kids at £49 per person but a 7 day cruise the week earlier where kids were charged full fare when in the same cabin with parents on the same ship
Cheers

Just got an email in regards to this today, a relief considering my two young daughters are not vaccinated and i didnt want to do a COVID test on an 8 and 6 year old
my sister went on a cruise from Southampton and they didnt bother with the tests or the certificates as they knew they were dropping them completely tommorow

That's what I said in my previous post, that I can believe that they have problems filling the Virtuosa from European ports because although also cheap (aprox 400 euro for 7 nights) Europeans still have to posess an international pasport so aditional costs. And on the Belgium websites they always have crazy prices like this 6 night from 189 eur on 7 november, even with flights it comes cheaper then leaving from Zeebrugge for us. Last year we dit a 7 night cruise Med with flight from Paris included in balcony beginning september for 499 euro with MSC. So definitely keep an eye on the Belgium website 😊.
what is the website address for the Belgian website?
I have always wanted to try Yacht club and for £1000 pp might be worth a go

we have booked 3 cruises in school holidays all out of Southampton for a family of 4 in Balcony cabins Each time and in total it has cost about £4,000 for Fantastica Cabins so we have booked our cabin numbers on each cruise as well
May Half Term, Week in August and October Half term, no drinks packages yet or parking but for 3 weeks holidays full board you cannot really complain

embarking from the UK travelling to northern Europe are there no restrictions now?
do you still need to do a PCR test if unvaxxed?
how are the COVID cases currently on MSC and what happens if you get COVID while on board?

I have been on MSC cruises many a time and have got a few booked, just wondered how long is acceptable to wait for a drink from a bar? 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour
biggest complaint i see from reviews is the ships are too busy, they are big ships so they will be busy going in and out of the theatre etc but I always still seem to find space

anyone know how big the Double Sofa bed is?
we have booked a balcony cabin and its got a double sofa bed

Have booked three cruise's for 2023/ 2024 and was wondering do MSC have Sales on their drinks Packages?
I last cruised before the pandemic and can't remember
-
With the new relaxing of vaccination requirements for USA travellers when do we think that is going to happen for cruise's departing UK and Europe?
-
-
are there any cruises you can travel on without being vaccinated at the moment from the UK?
i can see Fred Olsen have relaxed the mask mandates on their cruises but nothing in regards to unvaccinated cruising
-
any new codes available? we are booked for October 2018 from Southampton
-
We didn't do the drinks package when we went in April and our drinks bill came in just under £150 for the two us, Drink or two in the afternoon, glass of wine with dinner and a drink or two in the evening along with soft drinks during the day as well, if we had prebooked it would have cost us £210 so very similar but i agree as Fred has reasonable drink prices compared to other cruise lines the package wasnt for us
How many MSC ships have you sailed on?
