  1. I would have just given them their space. It doesn't bother me. I feel we have bigger issues in this world than marijuana. Its becoming more decriminalized nationwide d/t the heavier drugs taking precedence. In fact, MANY of the islands and ports we all visit during a cruise grows, sells and distributes.

What concerns me more are the prostitutes and their **** that were on the Breakaway out of NYC cruising with us in February. Take a moment to let that set in... :o

  2. Sailed two weeks ago on Breakaway. Never again. We encountered the rudest staff at the NY port Pier 71. They were downright mean. The wait to get on the ship was ridiculous. It took hours! Then when we finally got clearance to board, AGAIN, rude staff yelling at people to hurry up because they were reaching capacity within the terminal. Terrible customer service from start to finish during the boarding process. Our cabin was nice. Basic balcony. I do like the way the bathrooms are set up with no shower curtain that clings to you. Food was much better than any other cruise we have been on. The bars were always poorly staffed. You had to wait a LONG time to order and receive your drink. Gift shop was stocked with either high priced Gucci bags or dollar store jewelry. It took FIVE times for us to merge our account; imagine an angry husband every time he ordered a drink he'd have to come get my card. Five times down to guest services before we figured out the metal strip was malfunctioning. Booking a tender made NO sense to us at all. Booking shows...ugh. I don't want to be held by time restraints while on vacation! Where was the free style?! Lastly I was immediately charged for a message TWO days before receiving said message. And to make that situation worse they over charged me. Never again NCL.

  3. I don't think there is anything wrong with your pro/con list. I personally am not a fan of "freestyle" type cruising either. It has been mentioned several times before here on CC that NCL has a "nickle and dime" type feel to their services. I feel the more intimate, attention to detail, gets lost in the mega ships. That being said some people like this but its not for everyone. I don't think the overall vibe is due to it leaving from NYC or being a holiday cruise...some cruises just have a crappy vibe! We have been on amazing holiday cruises where everyone is in a festive mood the whole cruise and then other non holiday sailings where people are simply grumpy and non social. It happens.

ps, I love the towel animals too! ;)

  4. Breeze! Carnival Breeze that is. ;) She's a beauty of a ship that will meet all of your family needs. Mostly doing south eastern caribbean including USVI, St Kitts, Puerto Rico, Aruba etc. The breeze is a larger family oriented ship. We jump around from NCL to Carnival and occasionally over to RCCL but honestly Carnival has our hearts. They simply meet all of our need and we have honestly met, lifelong, friends that we stay in contact with to date. Check it out!

  5. There have been, and will continue to be, a number of threads posted on here from people based primarily on myths, misunderstandings, or outright stupidity. It's useless to let these posts upset you. Try as you might, you cannot educate the world. If you come across a post, whether it's about security cameras or anything else, that you know is wrong, don't let it bother you. If you feel the need, add your own comment and move on. Or, just skip the post entirely and go to something else. There is a comedian, Ron White, that said it best. " You can't fix 'stupid' ".

So true! I had one woman tell me that if I hung up christmas lights INSIDE my cabin.....get ready for it..... "the bow of another ship will crash right into your cabin".

  6. We booked a cabin on deck 7 forward on the Breeze and were concerned reading all the comments also; but it wasn't bad at all. We never heard anyone. We saw people playing the large chess game and in the hot tubs but it never disturbed us. Here is a pic from our cabin; 7244

  7. The good thing about booking this far out in advance is you can catch deals as they come up. I wouldn't even look at flights until summer! There are some sites that will track flight prices for you also. We come from the Northeast and have found flying in the day before and staying overnight is the most stress-free way to begin our vacation. :D

ps..... we will be on the Breeze with ya!

  8. We have celebrated 3 Christmas cruises now and it is always a fantastic time! Let's face it, the holiday is what you make of it. :o

We choose to exchange gifts either before or when we get home with family; usually before and bring a small gift along for the day of. I've seen larger families reserve a room, such as the library, where they exchange gifts and celebrate together. Again, it's really what your family makes of it.
