We had our aft cabin on the Vision OTS. I thought the cabin was a bit bigger and the balcony was definitely bigger...table, chairs and 2 loungers. The walk was longer to anyplace, but it was also quieter. I would recommend an aft cabin to anyone and would book one anytime I could.

We also have the Global Entry card and it hasn't worked at any of the ports we've been sailing into since getting them. The port personnel knew what they were, but we couldn't use them. They told us that the cards could be used at the airports, but not at any shipping ports.
So I would advise you to bring the passport.
Enjoy your cruise!

Are the Seaview Cafe and pizzeria gone from Serenade of the Seas? Cannot find either on the deckplan .
Yes, they are both gone. There is a Park Café in the Solarium that has the very good roast beef sandwich.

Hey all.
Avid cruiser, and doing a 4nt Vision of the Seas cruise end of this month. I've been a mostly balcony cruiser from the start, and its always been a side cabin. I've heard such great things from so many of you of the aft cabins, but when I have checked various cruises in the past, they were booked.
I just checked now, and a D1 aft balcony 7654 just opened up available. I'm already on the 7th deck side balcony. Should I do the switch?
Having a hard time finding vision D1 aft balcony photos, and specially since it just did revitalization. Is the cabin the same layout as the side cabins on Vision? What is the balcony furniture?
Thanks so much in advance. It may not even be available when I read some answers and go to move! Heh. Be well and enjoy! ;-)
I don't know about the D1 cabin but we were just above that cabin in a JS and I would definitely do an any aft cabin again. I was an immediate conversion to the "I love aft cabins" cruiser. The balcony is a lot bigger in an aft cabin than any comparable on the sides.

Letting your credit card company know when you're out of the country is a must. A card with a chip is a good idea, but for me the most important one is a card with "no foreign transaction fees".

Thanks for such a positive review. We'll be on Summit on Saturday

I was on the Summit back in April '13, and I'll be back on in late August, and my "don't miss" is the ice cream on Deck 10 in the buffet area(it's directly off the cafe entrance closest to the pool grill in its own contained section). Summit has both the Gelataria near Cafe al Bacio,(which is an extra cost)and the ice cream station, which is no extra charge. You can get assorted flavors of ice creams and frozen yogurts, as well as mix ins, or just a cup of mix ins, if you so desire. I'll throw my voice to the chorus also and say that Normandie is a great specialty restaurant, and the staff is extremely attentive and they pay attention to detail.
My only other tip is to have a marvelous time on the Summit!
Thanks for the tip. My DH loves ice cream and we'll be on Summit in 12 days.

Just for my piece of mind. My grandson has his passport and his parents are sailing as well. Will he need anything else like his birth certif., shot records.
Thanks rather to safe than sorry. Sailing RCI Indy or of Ft. Lauderdale in March 2014.
Thanks,
Marcy
His parents are going and he has a passport, he shouldn't need anything else. The passport is a better form of identification than a birth certificate.
If his parents weren't going then I would recommend a notarized letter giving you permission to take him out of the country along with his passport.

Hi, We will be on LOS in July 2014. I am booking the flights now. We will stay 2 days prior to the cruise in Barcelona. Post cruise I would prefer to fly directly home and not stay extra time in Barcelona. The cruise ends in Barcelona on a Sunday and shows an arrival time of 6am. The cheapest direct flights from Barcelona to JFK are at 10am. The RCI web-site shows the earliest time a flight should be booked is 10am. Any opinions ? I'm not sure how early we can disembark when the ship arrives at 6am. Is it too risky to book a 10am flight ?
It is always risky to book a 10 a.m. flight. Even though they list the arrival time as 6 a.m. a variety of reasons could delay the ship docking or the passengers getting off the ship once it has docked.
We never book a flight before noon. Since I have been on a ship that was suppose to dock at 6 a.m. and didn't dock until 11 a.m. (Fog prevented ship from going into port.), I don't want to have to go through the hassle of rebooking flights ever again if I can help it.
So, IMHO, I would spend a little more money and book a later flight.
Happy cruising,
Mary

Just did the RCCL Serenade's trans-Atlantic leaving from Barcelona. Took a taxi from the airport to the hotel 25 Euros (We stayed at the Majestic Hotel) and a taxi from the hotel to the ship 12 Euros. There couldn't have been anything easier...I would definitely do the taxi again, rather than pay more for a car service.

I believe it means they are connecting cabins.
