  2. After reading all the posts thought I would give you guys our 2 cents. We are Lynn and Ed from Miami and we recently got back from a 10 day Adriatic and Med cruise on The Beyond. We ate at almost every imaginable venue all MDR , Ocean View and Specialty restaurants. 95 plus percent of t time food was fantastic. The 5 per cent that it wasn’t we reorder something different. Our process for maximizing the chance of abundant great choices daily is a relentless search of what is being offered at all venues and booking our nightly meal accordingly. There are plenty of choices and it has worked, for us, to perfection. Enjoy our small sample of what we put in our BELLIES. IMG_6567.thumb.jpeg.474a2203b170042eaac29ad3dee65249.jpeg

  4. If your having trouble getting a reservation for any restaurant a second time just hav the dishes you want brought to your Penthouse suite. We do this at least twice during our cruises with O. Specially on days we’ve had longer excursions. They will deliver the food by course always warm always great. Just a thought. Riviera in February and Marina in April for us.

Oceania is superb.  Even the food in the MDR and Terrace Buffet are quite good.  But, the specialty restaurants are outstanding. On the larger ships, you have Red Ginger, Jacques, Polo and Toscano.  The Asian cuisine in Red Ginger is our favorite.

Cunard is nice; but Oceania goes much farther on the gourmet scale.

Ditto for us! All of them are excellent.

  6. Thank you all for starting this forum. We actually enjoyed the Paris to Normandy Cruise this past April. It was amazing and even the weather held up. We also did the pre Paris and post Loire Valley and it is a must for everyone. We will be going back to both Normandy and The Loire Valley. We also just booked the Avignon to Lyon cruise for November of next year and added the post in Dijon. I’ve just started reading the blog to educate myself on others experiences and suggestions. I’m sure when I finish it will create lots of questions from my readings. If anyone has specific questions about the Paris to Normandy Cruise, shoot.

  7. We are on the May25th Amalfi and Greek Islands 11 day Cruise on The Edge. We totally lucked out. Purchased an all inclusive package for a C-2 (10198) that after was the cabins that were up-dated to :cool:AQ1. Air,transfers,2 days hotel in Rome,Go Best and additional $100 OBC. $5653 each including taxes. Our cabin is partially obstructed but small price to pay for what we got. We are a happy couple.

  8. Lucky you....best of both worlds! Are you geting the Concierge luncheon as well ?

We are going to try and book one of the 4 MDRs for one night, just for a change from BLU...we'll see how that goes! If a no go, we have 2 specialty dining res booked already...

We enjoy BLU but not every menu is stellar,.( alot of poultry )...that may be changed..so we'll see,

We really never have attended that luncheon so we didn’t make that part of our request.

  9. Booked C-2 for May 25th 2019 Amalfi and Greek Islands out of RomeStateroom 10198. We lucked into the bank of cabins that were upgraded to AQ1. Had already made reservations for the 4 new MDR’s , as is allowed by X. When upgrade occurred we were very happy but requested to be allowed to keep the reservations. Initially we got denied with no real reason other than it was X’s rules that because Aqua Class is assigned to Blu we couldn’t keep our reservations. Too make a very long story short eventually,it took 4 weeks of give and take, they reversed their decision and we are now status quo and have our reservations honored. Has anyone else run into this situation and how was it handled? Just asking for context and understanding.

  10. I agree with Baron Barracuda - the "get all 4" offer for Oceanview/Balcony was due to the relatively last minute decision not to send Equinox to Europe in 2017 and keep her in the Caribbean year-round which resulted in a need to fill cabins fast ....... Unless sales to a specific region absolutely tank in the next few months (leaving tons of unsold inventory) I don't see them bringing it back anytime soon.

I agree they won’t be coming back anytime soon from Celebrity. Now your TA May be able to offer them to you. We were lucky enough to purchase a C-2 cabin on The Edge that was upgraded to AQ1 and I got all 4. We are very happy folks. May 25th 2019 Amalfi and Greek Isles Cruise.

  11. Really good advice. A letter has much more impact than an email! A letter conveys to the reader that you care enough about a situation to take time to write. Almost every time I've written to Celebrity I received a call within a week to discuss my comments. I should add that many times they are very positive comments about a crew member.

I agree. We have one of the staterooms that was changed from a C-2 to AQ1 after we booked. Won’t go into a long dietrad but it took 3 weeks to address my simple concern of keeping the 6 MDR reservations we had made. They originally said no because of POLICY with no flexibility so after 3 cabin changes to other C-2 staterooms we finally ended back in our original cabin. Reservations where maintained our cabin upgraded to AQ1 and we where set. I wrote a letter and also emailed. My journey did start with a call to Captains Club. I will say sticking with it and patience also helps. Good luck to all of you trying to resolve issues.

  12. Yes, if you are in Aqua Class, Blue is your dining room.

Aqua Class passengers who wish to dine in one of the MDR's may request to do so on a space available basis, but the other passengers have priority. You would need to coordinate that request with the Blu Maitre D.

Yes AQ is Blu, All Suites are Luminae and all other passengers will be assigned to one of the following, Normandie,Cypress,Cosmopolitan or Tuscan.

  13. Were any the original cabins triple occupancy? I wonder how it was handled if there were booked as triples, since all Aqua staterooms are double occupancy only:confused:

Ours was a occupancy of 2. Don’t have any other info on any other cabin affected. 🧐

  14. Yes I also posted here about the same reaction. I had pre booked all my restaurants (rotating through each twice) and planned around sail away time at each port.

I have been advised they will be cancelled(they haven’t yet), we now will need to either go to main restaurants without reservations and hope there is space or a short wait, or Blu without reservations. As most of our sail away times are after 7pm I expect we will always have long lines to get into any restaurant 😩

Gabriele, please keep me informed if they don’t cancel them. That was what they refused to do with us. My rage would climb to a whole different level if that happens. Ed

  15. I just heard from a cruiser who was one of those individuals whose cabin was now AQ. He said that they were not happy about eating in Blu due to wanting to try the new restaurants and had made their reservations. He stated that Celebrity told them that they could not do that and must eat in Blu. I responded and asked what the final decision was about the cabin, as he did not say on one of the Edge group sites. He added that Celebrity would not bend and he found them very difficult to deal with on this...very interesting, so not everyone is happy!

That was us. I posted my concerns earlier on this post. We ended up changed from our C-2 which was now an AQ1 to a new C-2 that we had to settle for. They would not protect our dinner reservations that we had painfully planned around our plans and port departure times. We would be assigned to Blu and would have to wait till boarding day to take our chances on new reservations. X’s flexibility was zero. They where polite and professional but no give even with our history of travel with RCI , X and Azmara. So our 12123 cabin now is on the deck below the pool a cabin we would never book willingly and we have instructed our TA that this will be our last cruise with X or any of their lines.

The most frustrating thing we faced was the simplicity of our request and the inflexibility by X on a problem that they created. I’m not even getting into the way we found out about it and the lack of plans that X had to mitigate any customer concerns.

After Edge we will more often use O,Regent and Viking to enjoy our cruises. We didn’t cancel this cruise because we want to experience Edge and it’s supposed industry changing approach to cruising.

Their defense of “its our policy” was all they ever offered with vailed remarks about “ you should be pleased with the upgrade”. I think that was their real plan.

Bottom line they lost us as a long time customer and gained a consistent proponent of their lack of common sense approach to problems they create for their customers. You are already starting to see folks with concerns with Edge about the space being carved out of the ship to classify the ship. Blu,Luminae,The retreat, what’s next? New business model which is entirely their option to do. All I could do as a customer is voice my opinion and vote with my dollars. They lost both. 😎

  16. Only If you want to have a special experience like Lawn Club Grille for al fresco dining, QSine for a different style or Murano for fine dining, yes. Not because BLU isn´t any good.

We skip Tuscan - it´s no Italian, it´s not a proper steakhouse and IMHO not worth the money. We have dined there many times and found that it is just nothing special any more.

After reading all post, this is the winner. 😎

  17. My take. If you purchase an 11 night dining package and a premium drink package and your ok with a C-1 Cabin. Plus you pay full price minus daily offers on spa treatments. Staying away from any suite will save you money. If. The service is something you are flexible and realistic. My two cents.

Also the Edge will now have 4 MDR’s that will make things cozier, quieter, hopefully improve service and give specialized options available in each. So more room for opinions and debate. My additional two cents. ;)

  18. He was sold a product. The product that was delivered was not what he ordered. He was told he would HAVE to pay more for the delivered product even though he didn't even want that product. Or let the product go back to the warehouse.

Nobody would accept that scenario with, say, a car or a washing machine. Why is it okay with a cabin?

Lol,never thought of it that way. Thanks.

Well I’m satisfied, not happy but satisfied. My TA’s intervention got some results. I was offered a new C-2, no cost change. The location doesn’t thrill me but we want to experience Edge. From starboard 10198 close to the Magic Carpet slide path to port side 12123 right below pool deck. We accepted. So we maintain all our planned dinning reservations and we don’t have to be tied in to AQ benefits that we didn’t want. Also 12123 is in a corner of the pool deck so noise may not be bad.

All that said the hassle we endured should never have occurred if X had used common sense.

I appreciate all comments on the board and suggestions. If any one is traveling on the May 25th 2019 Greek Isles Cruise out of Rome look us up Cabin 12123 we won’t be in Blu. Wink,wink... 👍

  19. GIZMO81, You do have another option which you failed to mention. CANCEL the cruise. In a true sense that is voting with your money. Will Celebrity care if you cancel? Probably not. But as long as the cruise industry is booming, there is little incentive for Celebrity to be nice to frequent customers.

    Hank

Agree. Only reason we didn’t is we wanted to experience Edge. If it wasn’t for that we would have canceled. That said it would have been my option not one they offered, lol. They would have loved for me to cancel , as you said they would have had no problem selling our Cabin. 😎
