The best item I have brought for a cruise is an over the door shoe organizer. The clear one. We hung it on the door in our tiny bathroom. Awesome for everything. Sunscreen, sunglasses, medication, make-up.

We bought tickets for the coliseum and Vatican way before we left for Europe. We did not have to stand in line and tickets were $17 each. Same with coleseum ... buy privately in advance

We took a train to the station which is basically at the bottom of the hill where Taormina is, so to speak. We were able to call a taxi from the train station and it took us up. Not expensive. But a hair raising ride. Worth it though, it was my favourite stop. Priceless views and old world charm!

I'm curious if anyone knows how much the fee is to access the hot chairs etc during the cruise. I can't remember what it's called but it is a package that allows you to use the steam room hot chairs and sometimes a special therapy pool depending on the ship

She called it Wiilly and told it all about everything that was happening. It got really annoying after the first hour ... I think she was having a mid life crisis and thought it was cute... It wasn't

On our last cruise there was a woman on an excursion with us who pulled a large sex toy out of her purse and for the rest of the trip talked to it loudly, pushed it in people's faces and acted like a moron. Finally someone got really mad and words were exchanged but she would not put it away. I'm just glad there were no children on the excursion asking "What is that? "

If I don't have a choice on giving a tip, it's not a tip it's a bill. In Canada we tip everywhere and it has become to the point where lousy, resentful employees expect a tip for poor service. They suddenly become nice at tip time. I have come to a point where if you did not give good service, no tip. That being said, we are treated like royalty on cruises and have never seen staff not give a standard of care that deserves a tip. But I do like having the right to remove it if there is poor service... Which I hope to never get.

Be aware of distractions. Being asked to sign petitions. People offering to help you buy your subway passes. We have seen people robbed in both of these cases.
