  1. Thank you so much.  We appreciate all the info. My husband and I are flying. But my daughter and her carload totals 5.  They also need to get from Disney World where they are spending week one to Fort Lauderdale. So for them, economically, it has to be driving. But I will check the link for them on the Florida departure boards. Also, I did just now find one cruise parking lot that would total 80$ for the week and provides shuttles. So thanks again and I will keep searching.  I will include airfares in My search too. But the least they were able to find was costing around 2000$ for 5.

  2. Does anyone have any suggestions for parking at or near Port Everglades for a July one week cruise? Airfares are way too high to fly.  But we don’t know what to do with the car once we get to the cruise port.  I am trying to find a hotel that allows you to pay cruise parking. But can’t find one. And it seems that the Port Terminal won’t allow you to reserve which would be tricky. Any suggestions? Any help much appreciated. Thanks Grams9898

  3. we have been on a few cruises, mostly Princess. We always drink the tap water in the cabin. We were told it is safe as it is desalinated water. This cruise is on Costa. We weren’t sure if all cruise ships safely desalinate the tap water so passengers can drink it. We leave from Mumbai January 6 for 2 weeks round trip. Thanks in advance for info.

  4. We always purchase drinks at bars and dinner. But we are not big drinkers anyways Always we enjoy the comRaderie of a drink at the bars. And wine at dinner too. Thanks for all of the advice. We will have to see what another trip to the liquor store brings.

  5. I agree that being up front and asking to get it back at end of cruise should work fine. We can put it in our hacked luggage for the flight home. Don't really want to leave it with our kids. Even tho they are of legal age to drink something doesn't feel right about that. But you didn't know it was grown kids versus brother or sister. Rum runners are interesting but we board in 4 days. At any rate we have opened the honey bourbon. We will see how much damage we can do to it by Wednesday !!!'

    Thanks again. Grams98

  6. So this is our dilemma: we are out west precruise visiting family. my dear hubby thought he was doing a good deed in buying me my favorite honey bourbon and fireball. He walked into our southern cal motel room so happy he had purchased it. Then I told him the bad news, that it is 2 bottles of wine, not 2 bottles of whatever, that we are allowed to bring on without a charge. But we want to at least bring it home with us. So,this is my question: If we put it in our luggage, will they confiscate it and give it back to us at end of cruise? Or will they discard it? We can't leave it anywhere in Cali and get it post cruise, Because it's panama Canal and we disembark in Fort Lauderdale. Would we be better to put it in our carry on luggage? And explain? All help, appreciated. Thanks so much. Grams98

  7. Very happy to report that 12 days out we received a very nice assignment. BA cabin, balcony midship port side bump out on Coral. Caribe 424. Had booked a Gty BZ. Only because no balconies were left 9 months ago!! Very happy with the results, but can't say that I enjoyed waiting and will probably only book a a Gty again if same circumstances exist: no other cabin available. In this case it worked out great. Thanks to all for all of your help. Grams98

  8. We had a choice of where and when. We were given 2 cruises in an upgraded room, from interior, which is what we had out of Singapore, to a deluxe balcony. First cruise could be 15 days, second cruise 10 days. The one we gave up was 10 days through Indonesia . We also will be refunded all our money from the one we gave up. But right now it is in a holding pattern as on board credit for use during the first free cruise. However, whatever we don't use will be refunded to us in the form of a check within a month of our return. We also were offered 300$ each for airline change fees, but we did not have any. We just stayed longer in Singapore, ( love the place) and Malaysia.( we went to Malacca for a week, awesome city)

Princess must have been desperately overbooked and we were fortunate it all worked out for us. I don't imagine it was too easy to find people willing to not go to Singapore at the last minute, and as we are retired, we lucked out. Probably one in a million deal. For which we are so grateful to princess! ️grams98

  9. Our longest so far was a 17 night SE Asia cruise. Still, rather inexperienced at all this, but I read more online books than I expected. And the Internet onboard just wasn't strong enough, Or took to long, can't remember which, To download more books. So I will not make that mistake again.

But, am I understanding it correctly that for month long cruisers or even longer, we are still only allowed to bring on board only one bottle of wine without a corkage fee?

  10. Of course, still waiting for the cabin. And I will definitely let you know when I find out which cabin we received, this has been a new experience for sure. We always have chosen the cabin we wanted. I like figuring out ahead which elevator to use to go here or there. Where we will spend free mornings, afternoons in relation to location of our cabin, etc. you know silly but enjoyable stuff like that. But as I said earlier, we either had to choose GTY bz to get a balcony or pay $2000 for the 2 of us for a mini suite with a balcony. I don't regret the choice, just curious how I will all pan out.

However, I do know that sometimes they DO overbook and run out of cabins. I know this because that is what happened to us last January in Singapore. 3 days before our 10 night cruise we were offered a MOVEOVER. Our Indonesia cruise was overbooked and Princess wanted our inside cabin. We said ok, as we were getting plenty in return. So I really don't care to MOVEOVER again, but of course one can always say no. Thanks again, grams98
