My son was out boating on the Mississippi and lost his drivers license. ( Please be on the look out if you are south of Iowa.). Thankfully he can go to DMV on Monday to apply for another one. He leaves Wednesday for new orleans
In Iowa he will receive a paper license with picture (black and white). Then they mail the permanent license in a month. Will this be enough to board with his BC and photo ID from the sheriffs dept ( he works for them).
Thanks
I don't know what they will say, but the Photo ID from the Sheriffs dept...is a govt issued ID, that and the BC.

I hope they get that resolved before the end of June!
I think a drought is a bit out of Carnival:rolleyes:s control.

People often complain about all the smoking.
Smoking areas are limited, drinking is everywhere
and so are the drunks.

It is about the same as a state holiday in the U.S.
Sept 16, Mexican Independence Day. Is the "Big" holiday
in Mexico.

Yep...food taste is a very personal matter.
Some actually like and brag on the bbq ribs.
I'll never (i know..never say never) but I'll never eat them again. ;)
just saying

This is just another entitlement gone wild.
To be all PC they think they are penalizing a HC
driver by charging them like everyone else.
-
I'm going to say this then put on my flame retardant suit.
I think the free parking thing is wrong.
Why... should the parking be free?
Most are wanting to drop the person off, then go park.
Explain why you..the driver needs a handicap spot anyway?
And FREE on top of that?
With that being said... If I had the tag,.. sure I would play the system too.

The Tea Sucks!
It is unsweetened instant made from a liquid concentrate.
Now...having said that and also saying I am a southern sweet tea snob,
I will say this.
The dining room tea usually tastes more like unsweetened brewed tea.
What I do ahead of time is start thinking about bad instant
tea, psyching myself up to wanting it, by cruise time.. I am good to go.;)
Sometimes, I might mix it with lemonade, sometimes not.
Also I stop at the first McDonalds on the way home to get some of the real stuff.:D

You could try purchasing a Large Rum Runner, take a razor
and open it up.
Pack your iron inside and put it in your checked luggage.
Rum Runners make things magically disappear. ;)

People always take a long time at the salad bar. The hot food is so good that we don't want to fill up on salad so we go around them. We're finished serving ourselves before they ever catch up to us.
I call that the passing lane.;)
I hate how slow people can be at the salad bar.
-
I definitely have no problem going around people. Especially at the grill. If they're waiting for a cheeseburger and all I want is some self-serve fries, then I take my tray and go right around them. Same as another poster at the Salad Bar. If I get behind someone who meticulously must sift through every topping and pick and choose certain pieces of lettuce, and all I want is some lettuce cheese and dressing, then I'm going around you!
And in all fairness, if roles are reversed, I always tell the person behind me to go on around me.
This is the main reason I like the salad bar be separate from the rest of the buffet.
Some people spend WAY too much time making a salad and making sure
the lettuce is laying just right and the cucumber slices and tomatoes are situated just right.
It is like they are making a salad presentation for a photo shoot, while in front of them is a 15 foot gap
in the line.
I will get in the passing lane.

Better to be safe than sorry.
Each person over 21 miss allowed one 750 ml bottle of wine in carry on luggage.
It doesn't say 750 ml per person...
WHAT does this mean?It means that the ones that check your bags might not add two persons wine together to total 1.5L
To be safe they would take 2-750ml bottles, not 1-1.5L bottle.

Sometimes the room layouts are odd, if that concerns you with the 9c's. I think it was the deck 8 rooms, but the photos of those looked like you had to climb across the bed to get to the sofa/table area. If you decide on one of those, try to find photos online to see if you're OK with the layout. Deck 8 also has queen beds, not king. And you don't get VIP check in with a 9c. I think most people book those with the intention of being on the balcony a lot, not for the interior.
You can walk around the bed.
We had 8428 on the Triumph and loved it.
The "wrap" goes about 8-10' around the corner

OK , here are a couple I took...nothing extraordinary, but I like them.
Lido Deck on the Fantasy late one night. It was SO windy this night
that I had extreme difficulty in walking around on the Sun deck to get to where I took this shot.
same shot photoshopped
Pilot boat when we were leaving Coz
Here is a pic of the Triumph and Glory in Coz
And a sunset pic over the Gulf of Mexico on our last sea night as we are approaching the Louisiana coast.

A quiet day at Dunns River Falls ...
Looks like a perfect time to relax and reflect in the calm natural environment that make this area such a tranquil secret place
Nice placement of that Wal*Mart sign ...
Amazing...it is not even a Carnival Ship:D
You have no idea how hard it was to get the pilot to let me out so I could take this picture ...Would that be the Harbour Pilot leaving the ship?

Music Manila was on the Conquest this past February..... They are so successful, I hope they don't go away.......
I have been hoping they were still around, but havent seen anyone mention
anything much about live bands for the last several months.
Does anyone know how to find out a schedule of who is what ship and when?
I am hoping for some good music on the Elation next month.
(wow, it sounds good to say next month)
There wasn't much on the Triumph back in January.
-
We had Music Manila on the Fantasy in March '09. They were absolutely
fantastic!!
Sadly, even though I may be wrong, I think that none of the Music XXXX
bands are with Carnival now...at least from what I have been hearing.
Music Manila was the highlight of the cruise for me and my son...especially
him.
He was invited to sit in on the drums for a song, but he was too shy to
play in front of that many people. The invite was enough to make him feel
good though.

I am generally scared of heights, but this zipline was AWESOME! I have a similar pic in my cruise album when I was on FOS in '08.
Here are a couple of other pics from the same cruise. Our friend (first time cruiser) was talked into wearing his Saturday Night Fever costume to the 70's party in the Promenade- at first he was REALLY embarrassed as NO ONE else was in costume- until he had a queue of girls waiting to take pics with him!
The fishing pic is just, awesome imo!
Thats a couple of nice dolphins!!
Good eatin:D -
I don't know who this guy is ;)

PVP insists that on the older Destiny, the sofas in the afts & balconies are smaller than a full size sofa (think slightly larger than love seat) & will not accommodate an adult. I had hoped for a trundle bed in one of the aft wraps on the Destiny; but he states that there are none.:(
Im not doubting what you state, just scared to book the room & have my kid's feet dangle for 5 days...what a fun trip that would be:rolleyes:. He fit nicely on the extended aft balcony ones on the Legend, that size would be perfect.
i've asked my PVP several times re the sofa on the Destiny in the wraps, he said it isn't they type an adult can sleep on comfortably and they don't book it as such:confused:. He states it's the exact same sofa in the balcony cabin i booked on the Lido deck, ergo the reason i needed to book a room w/an upper berth or go with a rollaway.
PVP did confirm that afts on the Freedom had full sized sofabeds. I'd switch but the mr wants the HMC/GTurk itinerary.
I'm not saying i know any of this info to be true via 1st hand experience, just relating what the PVP told me....i'd luv to book one of the wraps on the Destiny.
Our cabin had the small love seat, which did not make into a bed,
but I can guarantee you, my son would have gladly slept on it
just to have been on that balcony. ..Heck, I would have too.
The other convertible sofas.. they are the same as a twin.

Conchead Considering booking an aft wrap in 2011. I don't see a lounge chair in your posted photos. Did you have one and it just isn't pictured? Some aft wrap photos have them and some don't. Does anyone know if you can ask to have one or two on your deck? It sure seems like you have plenty of room for them!
No lounger, and I didn't ask about one.
There were 2 chairs that had back that would lower. I just
propped my feet up in another chair and was good to go.
The wife did the same

Here are 3 pics from the Triumph
8428 aft wrap
the cabin
The Balcony about 26' straight
This is the side wrapping around on the port side...about 10' more
We totally loved it, but we cruised in Jan and it got chilly
the first and last nights. I think any other time of year
would be fantastic

Thank you, I lived in Thailand for a couple of years and it was a matter of survival and just good manners to learn it.
Plus I was sent to the DOD language school, so I was happy to take advantage of the oportunity.:D
You must really take those Drink Of the Days very serious!!:D
Actually I couldn't remember the name while I was on the cruise.
I surely couldn't tell you now.
But..I liked him, 2 Lobsters without even asking..my kind of waiter!!;)

Everything I've read about Progreso makes me more excited to visit there than our other port stop, Cozumel. With this being our (friend & myself) very first cruise, everything will be new and we're excited about it all. Thankfully, we both enjoy visiting and seeing new places and Progreso will be no different.
No matter where I go or what type of trip, I prefer going and doing what the local residents do/see/go to more than to a fabricated vacation destination. Although, some of those can be fun also! And I'm a "glass is almost full" type person. So, I can find wonderful things about most any place I go.
Can't wait to visit the Uxmal historic area (with Autoprogreso) and hoping we have enough time to wander around town before having to get back on the ship. Actually, I wish we had 2 days at Progreso because I've read about enough stuff to do that one is really not going to allow enough time!
hdawson---thank you so much for sharing your photos with me. They are wonderful!
Progreso---I can't wait to visit you!:)
Bingo!!!!
however..that to me is the big downfall of cruising.
so little time in the port to get a feel for what it is really like.
Ok, Example..I really like Key West, yeah, the tourist stuff is fun and all,
but we have been several times and when you stop sightseeing
and start "living" there, even if only for a week going to the grocery store, post office
(getting off of Duval St)
..anything that the locals do...is when it really becomes nice.
New Balcony's on Fantasy Class
in Carnival Cruise Lines

The suites on the Verandah deck are the ones with the tiny balconies.
I would never never, never, never, never...book one of those..never!!;)
