I've yet to sail the Horizon. I'm fairly sure it will be my next cruise. I have read a bunch of Horizon reviews though. They all seem to fall into two camps, no in between:

1.) Had an amazing time. There is so much to do on the ship. The itinerary was a blast. Amazing vacation

2.) It was crowded by the pool and in the theaters. Liquid lounge sucks. Elevators suck. For these reasons, I hate Horizon.

I have a feeling I would be in the #1 crowd.

I have seen the same thing. I look forward to my August sailing. I think cruising is what you make it. I have never been on a cruise and had a bad time.

You go to a screen outside the elevators and click on the deck you want to go to.  It tells you which elevator to take e.g. Elevator A, B, C, D, etc.  Then on that same screen you click the deck you are going to again for each person in your party. It really is easy. I think people just don't like that it is different. There are no buttons inside the elevators to click deck numbers.

Oh I keep seeing those elevators pop up everywhere. It's kind of like if you don't know you would step into the elevator and see no buttons. And then you have to go to correct elevator not just the first one that opens up.

  2. I similarly wonder why a majority of US folk barely leave their own country or own a passport.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

As a European I have noticed that there is a chunk of countries that are more liberal to everyone (Ie western Europe and the Med) and countries that are less so (Various Baltic regions and middle Europe lik Hungary).

This happens even when they move to different countries. I work in a school with 40 different nationalities and there are various tensions sometimes.

I say this and sometimes people get offended. My parents are from the Caribbean but live stateside so I had passport since I was 4 years old. Not sure why people are hesitant to get one. That's a constant debate on face book do you need to get passport to take a cruise and it usually ends with someone saying just go get a passport it's not that hard.

  3. I'm American-Caribbean and I like cruising. 2 things: I think cruise lines do not market to people of color period and I think sometimes cruising is looked down upon. Some people think it's boring and for old people. Most AA from what I seen prefer land travel and you have many groups to join on face book and bloggers to follow that will give you ideas. Some people will tell you about their cruise experience and that's how people decide indirectly to entertain a cruise. I have never experienced anything bad nor was it slow for my taste I have been on 3 cruises and had a great time. Everybody on the boat for the most part is friendly from the guest to the staff. Each cruise I took was in the Caribbean so I fit right in. About to go on my 4th one in November. Never experienced anything weird, except in Dubai on a land tour. We were on the beach and 2 Chinese women started running to towards me and my sister to take pics with us. At first I was like......what's going on ( I'm from Brooklyn you gotta be careful when people start running towards you ). But then they just pointed to the camera and took a pic with my sis. Don't think it was rude just a little weird.
