acjb, could you advise as to how far from transportation (preferably by boat) to Vasa that Stad167 pier (I'm assuming they mean the pier in Stadsgarden) is? I have heard this is where we will be docking when the Constellation visits Stockholm in June.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

I retired a couple of years ago and we went at it a bit differently than most. We began to plan for retirement much earlier and I made a vow that I'd retire when I began to dread going to work. Around May of 2007 it quit being fun and advised my employer he had two weeks to find and train a replacement.
So, I never really counted the days. When you are ready to retie, you'll know it. When that realization hits you, my advice is to act upon it. About the only thing I find worse than doing work you dislike doing is ending up having a bucket list of places you wanted to travel, and enjoyable things you wanted to do, but were too busy working to do any of them.

I Google Earth's satellite picture and it appears that the terminal is just east of Central Station at the end of the pier. I read a couple of other references to the fact that it is about a fifteen minute or so leisurely walk from the train station to the terminal itself?
If you're sailing out on the 28th, we're on the same cruise.

I feel like such a newbie! We waited until we were retired before we found cruising. Now we're hooked. (I swear, they should put a warning labels on the boarding passes for first-time cruisers advising them that cruising can be addictive!) The trip was memorable because in five days we were caught in not one but two hurricanes, Wilma and Alpha. We still loved it.
Our first cruise (Civilian type - I spent 22 years in the Navy) was in 2005, on Carnival's Celebration, out of JAX. We were hooked.
Does anyone know the final disposition of Celebration? I know she was stricken from Carnival's fleet in 2006 or 2007. Her sister ship, Holiday makes her last run from here in Mobile the first week of next month. I don't know who is buying her. She'll be replaced by Fantasy until next spring when Fantasy will be replaced by Elation.

Puerto Vallarta food tour off cruise ship
in Mexican Riviera

We have booked through PVFood Tours and had no problems, in fact they had no tour scheduled on Tuesday, the only night we would be in PV. I called Paul the owner, via the number provided and he modified his schedule to add a Tuesday tour!
We've taken food tours for years from NYC to Singapore, and have found them to usually be the best part of our trip. There's no hard sales pitch to buy from their friends, and we always get a good perspective on the local history and customs in addition to sampling some great food. We're hoping PV Food Tours is not the exception.
