  1. We took it in from city centre and managed fine--until we got off and walked FOREVER to get to the busses to take us to the cruise terminal (I use that lightly as it wasn't a terminal when we were there 2 years ago, as Rome had very few people embarking). I wouldn't do it again though, I would book a shuttle service, which isn't too expensive. Our large suitcases weren't able to be kept next to us and there is some substantial walking in the terminal and then to the port, on some cobble stone and uneven terrain and a recipe for disaster with the wheels on your luggage.

  2. The card you activate at first use is the Copenhagen Card.

The city pass is only for transportation.

Thank you, sorry I wasn't clear. I realize that the city pass is only for transportation--I just want to clarify that I can purchase it at the airport upon arrival into Copenhagen, correct? We fly in pre cruise and would like to have it for the day before we cruise.

    Thanks so much!!

  3. Help! I've been reading through this thread, but I'm confused as to how to get a 24 hr city pass to use after the cruise. I won't have a phone activated to be able to buy the pass online while in Copenhagen. Is it possible to buy the pass at the airport when we fly in before the cruise but not use it until after the cruise?

    So, it was as suspected.

The ticket is valid from the time of purchase, so the only option is the more expensive Copenhagen or to get is as a test massage on your phone.

Hi. I think I am now confused. I won't have a mobile while in Copenhagen either, but having looked through the website for transportation in Copenhagen, I had thought that I would be able to buy the 24 hr City Pass at the airport--and then once you do, it is activated at good for the 24 hours from that time. Is this correct, or am I mistaken. And thanks so much for all of your information on this thread Danish Viking--it's been amazingly useful!!!

  4. Sure. I've only recently been introduced to it myself. You wear a set of headphones that have random dance music playing...different music in each set of headphones. People dance and (some sing along) to the music they hear but nobody else can hear it. It's pretty funny to watch.

My husband and I just came off of Reflection yesterday--was a great cruise. We went to the silent disco and had so much fun! There are 3 different channels to listen to--and are represented by red, blue or green on the headsets...so everyone that you see with red is listening to the same music, and so on. Lots of fun to participate and even more to watch it and hear no music!! [emoji16]

  5. The dish I particularly loved was the 'truffled albacore tuna' which is a starter, I am a huge fan of anything involving truffle flavour :) The other dish which we both loved was in the 'Hot Pots and Noodles section' and called 'scallop and shrimp dynamite' which is a dish which is baked in the oven and comes with a delicious creamy mayonnaise style sauce.

We tried all of the choices on the Hot Pots and Noodles section and really liked all of them, as well as the Beef Sliders and the Chicken Gyozo and this is before I mention the sushi and sashimi choices - of which the standout for us was the 'Shrimp Tempura' rolls which were recommended by our waiter.

For info for those not purchasing the UDP if you buy a dinner package you can basically choose as much as you want from the menu so A La Carte pricing isn't an issue and we found they were very amenable to swapping restaurants around. For instance we had the 5-dinner package on both our B2Bs and Lawn Club Grill isn't to our taste (too boring) so we opted not to eat there but chose other restaurants in its place.

    Sounds wonderful--thanks so much!

  6. We ate at Sushi on 5 on Reflection twice on the last 2 cruises (each time as part of a dining package) We decided they were 2 of our best meals on 22 days onboard and wished we eaten there more

My husband is not a sushi eater but there are so many more dishes than sushi on the menu. Two of the dishes are two of the best we've had in recent meals onboard and on land and we're foodies with a wide range of tastes in all types of cuisine

They really need to rename it so those 'sushi haters - yuk' realise there's a lot more than sushi on offer, much in the way royal Caribbean have a 'sushi' restaurant which offers much more but is called 'izumi'

And to those who say yuk - was that after you tried it? I suspect not

Can I ask what the two dishes were that you reference as being some of the best? DH and I are hoping to get the UDP upon boarding and hope to try So5 a couple of times. Thanks!!

  7. I'm almost sad that you're trip is coming to an end--as your review has been amazing and so enjoyable! We were on the Reflection in December last year and head out on her next Saturday--so that's the only reason that I'm not toooo sad that your trip is coming to an end, as yours needs to end for ours to begin. :D

Seriously, though, thank you so much for taking the time to bring us all along on your wonderful trip. It has definitely been one of, if not THEE, best review that I've read. Enjoy your last day onboard the beautiful Reflection!

  8. Really? I hope it hasn't changed or that you've not had good bartenders! Ours have always done the rim (more of a celery salt than true Caesar rim), Worcestershire, tobacco, lime and pepper. Now, we've only been on 2 X cruises, but both of them we've been lucky with them. My DH is a true Caesar fanatic (that's actually the name of our boat, as its my husband's signature drink) and he wouldn't drink it without the fixings and just spicy Clamato. We're heading out in November on the Reflection again and I sure hope it hasn't changed!

  9. Yes, you absolutely can get them!! Problem is, they generate some curiosity and then other people try them and love them, and then they (the ship) run low on Clamato juice. Then my DH gets all worried that he won't be able to have his favourite afternoon drink. First world problems. [emoji2]

  10. We've done UDP twice, both times on the Reflection. We loved every meal, but found that we generally 'over did it' each night, probably a subconscious desire to find value in the expense. We have chosen to go with the MDR this year, and Murano and LCG, our two favorites. We had a very pleasurable experience with main dining on RCCL this spring, so we are interested in trying it with Celebrity. We have always been in Blu or had UDP in the past. Also, I love my afternoon Mast Grill burger, don't give that up!!!

    I know, isn't that burger delicious?! ;)

  11. Just to sweeten the pot, you also get unlimited breakfast and lunch at The Porch, 1 lunch and Champagne High Tea at Tuscan and one lunch at Muranos, unlimited dining at Sushi on five.

I didn't realize about breakfast at the Porch--that's also enticing. Thanks!

  12. We've booked the UDP a couple of times. We think the UDP is a great deal for people who enjoy the specialty restaurants. this is especially so for the Reflection due to the # of restaurants. UDP provides variety of eating venues, plus flexibility to schedule dining times of preference based on plans for each day. You do need to be well planned in order to snag your preferred dining times for each day of your cruise on day 1 of your cruise. However, we've found staff to be accommodating when we decided to make changes well into our cruise. As an FYI, wine with meals are not included in the UDP, but are included if you have a drink package.

Thanks so much. I'm glad to know that they are relatively flexible. Yes, we always get a premium drink package, the wine being the primary reason--just pay over and above the $13 by the glass, or get a nice 20% discount on bottles.

While we have eaten at the specialty restaurants before, I'm having a hard time convincing my husband to get a UDP, even if it is just using OBC. His mindset is we've already paid for the cruise, why should we be paying so much more to eat in specialty EVERY night, which I completely understand, however, there's just something to be said about the ambiance (usually) and attention to detail in the specialties vs. being in the MDR. I have a couple of months to work on him! :D

  13. You didn't mention which ship which make a difference to us. M class have 2 speciality restaurants & Sushi on 5. The Eclipse, Equinox & Solstice have 3 plus Sushi on 5. Reflection & Siholette have 4 plus the Porch & Sushi on 5.

For us only 2 restaurants wouldn't make it worthwhile and we don't care for Sushi on 5.

Sorry, I had it in my signature line, so I think everyone will be like me and read where everyone is going. :D It is the Reflection, which we've been on before, only change is that Bistro is now Sushi. We've only eaten at the Tuscan Grille, Murano and Bistro before.

  14. Galley only tour was no charge on our last Equinox sailing. Just keep an eye in the daily "Celebrity Today" delivered to your stateroom. They do offer limited full tours:

Never done the UDP but we are planning to on our next cruise. Lots of OBC to spend. It is $29 per day, per person. We usually do the 5 dinner package.

Thanks so much! It is the full tour that we are looking at.

  15. Hi. I apologize for asking this, as I know that I've read it in the past, however, I'm unable to locate it in any of the threads. We have quite a bit of OBC for our next cruise and are interested in a couple of things that we normally wouldn't be:

    1. I had read something about the very limited full galley tour. Is there a name for it that I can search for, or does someone have the info (price, how to arrange, etc.), and

    2. The UDP. We always go to a couple of the specialty restaurants on our cruises, but this time we're somewhat thinking about considering this. I know that it's very limited and you have to book it right away, but just curious if anyone who has had it has thought it worth the cost? While we don't usually have large lunches, we do certainly eat (it'll keep me away from the burger at fries at the mast grill! ;). And we always have a full dinner in the evening, and very much appreciate good food and wine. I know the value of it is certainly a personal preference, but am just curious to other's thoughts.

    Thanks so much!

  16. I too read someplace that the the Molecular Bar will be changed to WCB by 28 November on the Reflection. We are sailing out on 5 December as well and are extremely disappointed that, more than likely, we will not get to enjoy either of the specialty cocktails for which we specifically upgraded to premium package many many months ago. We are not interested in drinking at the Martini Bar because from our past experience, there is no consistency - one same drink can taste different each time it's ordered, unlike at the Molecular Bar.

I agree. While we didn't yet upgrade to premium (we were waiting to use our OBC upon boarding), we DID pay more through the BBB to have a drink pkg, factoring in the drinks that we would have at Molecular (or at least World Class when we subsequently found out that Molecular would be no more).
