  1. No. They are salt water pumped in from the ocean. The hot tubs also aren't really hot - more like warm tubs.

The hot tubs on the Glory were nice and hot on my cruise in January, nothing like the Splendor which were lukewarm at best.

  2. I certainly hope they won't attract so many "blind followers" as you call them. They're the ones who can't see the forest for the trees. No sense of adventure! Royal delivers a ship that is a marvel of modern engineering and all some people can see is that their set dining habits have been tampered with? C'mon now. Put some big boy panties on and embrace the future.

I like the set dining. I was just on my first Norwegian cruise a few months ago. I was disappointed in the waiters who wanted to have you in and out as fast as they can (trying to take our order before our whole party was sitting) and vacuuming while we were finishing dinner.

I like to have a rapport with my servers and tablemates, it is something I have always enjoyed.

And big boy "panties"... No such thing.

  3. What do you mean your MDR table was given away?

Luggage showing up after 8pm out of Galveston is nothing new. We were on the Mariner in January and our Suite Attendant went down to deck 1 to find our luggage for us about 7:30pm (for a huge tip). He said the marshaling area was full of luggage that was being re screened to look for banned items (booze, extension cords, irons etc). I met several people in the spa the next morning who got their luggage at 7am MONDAY and many more throughout the cruise who's luggage ended up in the naughty room.

As for the hot tubs, I don't think they are ever anything but lukewarm on most ships. When I questioned another cruise line about it they said their insurance carrier demanded that the temp be cooler so that there were no lawsuits for people being burned. Since children are allowed in the hot tubs the temps have to be cooler since their skin is more sensitive. I asked why the hot tubs in the adults only area were the same cool temp and was told it was because the passengers did not obey the rules about children being in the area. The problem is cruise lines don't enforce their own rules!

We thought about taking the Navigator Dec 15, but knowing it is headed to dry dock in January made us think twice about it. Why would they repair stuff when they know it is going to dry dock for a month for a major overhaul. So, instead we opted for the Caribbean Princess Dec 14 and we will sail the Navigator AFTER she is drydocked.

On the Explorer this past October the hot tubs were REALLY hot, you had to get used to it and get in slowly.

On the Carnival Splendor this past May the hot tubs were lukewarm at best.

  4. In addition to what Karina described, on Royal the DJ plays two different tunes, playing to two different sets of headphones. So it gets interesting seeing the dancing (and singing) to different tunes.

It's not two different sets of headphones. There are two DJ's and there is an A/B switch on the headphones allowing the listener to select which DJ they want to listen to.

  5. If you find a $100.00 bill laying on the floor at K-mart, do you keep it, or turn it into the service desk? The concept of finders-keepers is that the find keeps the item if the original owner is not found. In the case of money, the finder, by giving it to another person, makes the new person a new "finder" and thus would be the one who keeps it. Now, if that $100.00 was in a wallet with a drivers license, than you know the owner, thus would make an effort to contact them.

Things get lost on ships, planes and hotels all the time. Some things are of value, and some things might just be sentimental, such as possibly what the OP was asking. Never said it was of value, just something that belongs to someone, and they would be happy to ship it to them. Maybe it was engraved, and looked special.

There is no "right" way of handling this. The only "right" way is that a person, makes an attempt. There is no "rule" that states a "finder" should not take position of a lost item, and if that "finder" makes an attempt to find an owner, than they did the right thing, and if unsuccessful, is not the new owner.

I think you meant "is NOW the new owner" in the last line.

  6. I'm with you on that. Taking a role, or Danish, with your hands without touching anything else is safer than grabbing a set of tongs, putting your 'germs' on them, and transferring others from them.

    Commonsense...

I was once scolded by a crew member when picking up a corndog by the stick for not using tongs. Unfortunately common sense is not very common these days.
