We are currently on the Spirit anchored offshore from Langkawi Malaysia.

as of this morning Malaysia has closed all ports and the Captain announced that India has done the same. This is on top of Myanmar and Sri Lanka earlier this week.

i am expecting the ship to return to Singapore while it is still open and end the cruise early, but this is just my opinion.
good luck to all on the next cruise. I suggest confirming with SS before you leave home.

Just heard passengers onboard had temps taken yesterday is this a precaution or is someone sick onboard

  2. Not sure what the rules are here in Australia abut drinking age on board?RC in the US is 21 -maybe someone here can clarify whether the boys will actually be able to have a drink

Sent from my iPad using Forums

Drinking age on board from Australian departures is 18 however you will need to produce ID on board and you can only purchase drink package onboard cannot pre purchase

  3. Cruised with 17 year old twins and an 18 year old on Voyager last December they went to teen club first day there they met heaps of other teens their age they would either then join in activities organised by the club or all get together and arrange their own activities i.e late night flow rider, basketball, dancing usually on the ice rink studio b or the disco they would meet up for pizza at the promenade cafe etc they always had heaps going on.

  4. Hey everyone, my wife and I are doing the cruise on Vision of the Seas out of Venice on the 17th as part of our honeymoon.

    Wondering,

We aren't huge drinkers, what is your recommendations of bev. packages? seems incredibly steep to pay top dollar for a booze package when we'd maybe enjoy a bottle of wine on fancy dinner nights.

I cruised with another cruise line where I could get drinks (coke, juice) at the buffet style eating area during all hours without an additional package, is this the same on these ships?

    Last question, I promise!

We are staying about a block from the train station in Venice. Where is the pier, and is it walkable from the train station? We check out of our hotel at 11:30am , so just trying to set a game plan. Nowhere in our information tells us where we need to go to board the ship! Confused!

Thanks so much for your help, and hopefully see some of you onboard :)

You can hop on the people mover from the square just down from the train station for about 1 euro when we where there a couple of years ago you could check your luggage in at the train station for your cruise for a few euros then make your way at your leisure via the people mover later in the day

  5. We are staying at the Bauer Palladio Spa in Giudecca, which is across the canal from St. Marks Square. They are transporting us to the cruise. Thanks!

I would first check with your cruise line if you will be allowed to bring onboard as quarantine restrictions still apply to cruise ships with regards to bringing onboard produce and plants etc.

  6. I used to work at a clothing manufacturers and one of my jobs was packing the clothes for pleated dresses and skirts I used to gather the pleats together and put tissue Paper and an elastic band near the bottom to keep them together then roll it up instead of folding over .

  7. Thank you! I was wondering what the options were at night, closing drapes or an 'off' button. Didn't even think about that large of a screen throwing off heat. Actually, can't wait to experience this type of cabin.

    Appreciate your reply.

You can turn the screen on or off as required with a small remote control in your cabin. As previous cruisers have stated it was good to be able to see outside of a morning and see what the weather was doing and if we had docked. We found it a little disconcerting the first day but soon got used to it and really enjoyed it would definitely have one again.

  8. In looking at the "fine print" of the terms and conditions on RCI's Australian website I found this little gem:

"All guests must obtain appropriate personal travel insurance at the time you book your cruise..." (Emphasis added by me)

Now DW & I usually take out an annual policy and are therefore always covered but I never realised it was a mandated condition of travel.

Has anyone ever heard of this being enforced by the cruise line?

Just a side note realised last year when looking to take out another annual policy that many now do not cover cruises.

  9. I think you have misunderstood what i was asking. No i do not plan to let my child be in a pool at any time unattended if you re- read my posts. That would be really stupid. I do not plan on anyone else taking responsibility for my child other than myself even if a life guard was present. I fully understand the risks of children and water. I have never taken my eyes off my child in a water situation either.

I presumed everyone was familar with public swimming pools that would normally be found on land at a swimming centre. A splash and play area or a shallow area (ankle/knee deep) is one that a parent could remain fully clothed and be standing in the water, while the child has a play. Some centres (on land) that I have been to may have water fountains in the shallow areas as well. I do not want to be in bathers and swimmming in water that is really deep whilst trying to hold onto a child. Sounds like if I wish to take him for a swim I will have to take a swim vest and be in the water also, as it sound like there are no splash and play areas. My son is 3 now and will be 4 when we go.

    Anyway, thats all.

there is a shallow splash and play with slide in the kids club area
