  1. Hello, my wife and I are scheduled for the 10/1/23 14 Day Greek Isles sailing. Is there a Hold ‘‘em Poker table in the Casino on the ship?
Does the Casino host tournaments? Also, can you purchase a daily pass for the Spa, or do you have to purchase a pass for the entire sailing?
Thanks in advance for any input. Leslie

  2. Thanks for all your replies, I like the venue a the Tuscan Grill because they serve a continental breakfast, and the Cappuchinos are complimentary, and at $5.00 a pop, this is not cheap anymore. I do not drink alcohol so between the Elite drink vouchers and my soda card, my wife and I should be covered. I also remember the Elite breakfast giving complimentary Mimosas, my wife really enjoyed them. Thanks again Leslie

  3. Hello, I am currently booked on the Allure for the 8/27/17 sailing. I currently have Diamond Status with Royal( by virtue of Elite status on Celebrity). I have been reading that the Diamond lounge has cocktails from 5:30-8:30, is this in addition to the 3 drinks they load on your card?? Or is this in lieu of the drinks given in the lounge? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Leslie

  4. Would you be so kind as to post your speed tests from all the cruise lines? Up/Down and latency would be awesome.

You are aware that Voom is only on the Oasis and Anthem Class RCCL ships and only in certain areas, right?

    From the Royal Caribbean website:

Q: What ships have VOOM (High Speed Internet)?

A: Oasis Class and Quantum Class all have high speed internet in the Caribbean, Mediterranean or Asia.

High speed internet is not available during transatlantic crossings and repositioning sailings.

    That's a whopping 4 out of 22 ships.

Xcelerate, Celebrity's version of parent company RCI's Voom is available on a mere 1 ship in the fleet: The Reflection, and only in the Caribbean. (See this article from 17 days ago.)

NCL just signed their deal with EMC (formerly MTN) today. Carnival signed a similar agreement last September. With the same company. For the same technology. Perhaps NCL will use a combination of pixie dust and unicorn farts to get to full deployment by July 2016, but I'd be inclined to bet against it.

I have no idea what having the cruise lines on MyTweetySpaceBook has to do with high speed internet deployment. Carrier Pigeon Magazine (http://thecarrierpigeon.co.uk/) is on both Facebook and Twitter. You don't see them strapping rockets onto the birds just because of social media. #getafrigginclue :D

Apparently some of the people posting do not read enough, as of 5/2/16 RCCL Voom is now fleet wide and NOT just on the Quantum class ships, as for Celebrity, XCellerate is now fleet wide and NOT just on the Reflection as I just sailed a TA on the Silhouette 13 days FLL to SouthHampton and it was available unlimited for 13 days at a reduced rate of $179 total. My point is, HAL is slightly behind in this area, and that it is unusual to see a New class of ship being launched to have such an antiquated Internet system and offering.'

  5. Hello Folks, a veteran cruiser that has cruised with all the cruise lines including Holland America. I was fascinated by the new KDam and how HAL is trying to be innovative and appeal to a younger demographic. RCCL has Voom, Celebrity has XCellerate, NCL just announced they will have hi speed internet for all their ships by July 2016. What does HAL have? From what I read, HAL does not even provide unlimited packages for the passengers. How can this be innovative and be appealing to a demographic that is driven by social media? The Cruise lines themselves are on Facebook and Twitter, how can you roll out a new ship with an antiquated internet system and claim to be innovative?

  6. Hi Folks, I am a frequent Princess and Celebrity cruiser, I was thinking of a October 2017 TA from Barcelona to FLL on the Royal. On the S class ships, we like to spend our sea days in the sauna in the solarium, protected from the in climate weather, having already sailed on the Regal, where on the Royal can you be protected from the cold weather? There are no protected pool areas. Will I have to buy a pass for the Spa, how much is that for a 15 day crossing? Thanks for any input. Leslie

  7. Hi Folks, will be sailing as a first time Elite on the 4/10/16 TA on the Silhouette I Understand that the specialty dining discounts are really based on supply and demand. Since this sailing will have 8 consecutive sea days, I am curious to know from other TA cruisers on the kind of discounts being offered, and the number of lunches offered in Murano, Lawn Club Grill and Tuscan Grill. Thank you in advance for any information. Leslie

  8. Hi Folks, currently booked on 4/10/16 Transatlantic on Celebrity Silhouette, this trip was 2 years in the making, was booked in an inside cabin 3144. A few months ago I was offered a upgrade gty with no assurance of what type of cabin it would be, so I declined and stuck with my inside cabin 3144. Today I received a promotion from Celebrity's Captains Club, $150 upgrade to either an Oceanview or Veranda, I immediately fowarded the promotion to my TA and told her Veranda only! and just received word that I got cabin 9242 midship deluxe balcony for $150.00 total , very happy.

  9. Hi Folks, I am currently scheduled for a TA leaving from Fort Lauderdale, will be arriving the same day of departure on Sunday April 10 . We are planning to take a cab from the airport to the port, where can I stop to purchase wine? Thanks for any help. Leslie

  10. ST THOMAS Continued:

we returned from a lovely day at Emerald beach, we showered and changed and went to the 6:30 show of FIERA which was excellent. Great sets, costumes, pirotechnics. We then had reservations to the Princess steak house at the Crown Grill, to put it simply, it was the best meal so far. We started with seared sea scallops, and shrimp cocktail, then French onion soup, then Grilled Rib-eye staks, with mushrooms, creamed spinach, and baked potatoes, for dessert we shared the Princess sampler, which is a small version of all their desserts, and the Norman Love peanut butter and chocalate bar, both were great.

We returned to our cabin and watched Gone Girl.

    St. Marten Day 5

We woke up at 7:30 and had breakfast in the MDR. THE SERVICE WAS FAST AND PLEASANT, the ship was cleared at about 9:30 we left the ship on deck 4 and looked around the stores and took some pictures. The Equinox, the Summit, and the Freedom of the seas were docked along side us. We then took a taxi to Mullet Bay Beach and spent a lovely afternoon, rented @ chairs and an umbrella for $15, the taxi fare was $8 pp to the beach, make sure you leave enough time to get back to the ship, as traffic can get congested late in the afternoon. Today was sunny 82 degrees, but still quite windy, we have had wind follow us from FLL, tonight dinner is at 7:30 made reservations this morning, tonight there will be a Ventriloquist/Comedian, and then a Deck Party at 10:00pm. The Cruise director on this cruise is Martyn Moss, he has been fine nothing special,

Obesrvations: so far everything has been great on board, last night my cabin TV froze, I called guest relations and the problem was solved quickly. The only mishap so far is that I did lose my coffee card in port somewhere only had 5 punches on it, so please be careful with it. I reported it to the Guest Relations, but there was no effort to accomodate me. It was my fault, so I cannot complain. Well that it is all for now, I will be finishing my review when I get to FLL, as I do not have any mor internet minutes left. A previous poster correctly pointed out that there is a way to post without being on line, unfortunately I did not know how to do it. I did enroll for EZ luggage. My flight does not leave until 7:00pm on Sunday. We have 2 sea days going back to Florida, tomorrow is the second formal night, to be continued...........

  11. Correction to the Pervious post, the first formal night was day three.

Observatios: the ship and public spaces are beautiful and well maintained, the elevators are smaller and slower. Since our cabin is forward, we have not missed the famous missing, midship staircase. We did not like the Gelato shop, preferred the free soft serve on the lido deck.we are always met with with a friendly hello and good morning by the employees. The MDR service has been inconsistent, we have yet to find a table with a good service team, the first night the waiter was too slow, last night the service was faster, but the waitress just talked too much.our cabin steward Joey has been quietly efficient complying with all our requests.

    DAY 4 st Thomas:

We woke up at 7:30 am got ready and went to the MDR for breakfast which serves breakfast from 7:00am- 9:00am , we took some photos about the ship, by the time we were done the ship was cleared. A few years back we found a beach in St Thomas called Emerald Beach, very quiet, with chairs to rent, a bathroom, a bar and free Wi-fi. Since we were docked in Crown Bay it was only a $4 cab ride away, see Isaiah, two chairs under a nice tree ,$12. Tonight we are reserved at the Crown Grill, also the show FIERA tonight. We plan to go again to the 6:30 show. Sorry for the double up, but the Internet connection on the ship is horrible and expensive. Another 100 minutes is $69!!! To be continued.............
