  1. I'm not really sure I know what a onesie is: something like combination underwear and enjoyed by Nick Clegg, I believe.
Yes, onesies are fairly American with most little ones in them because you don't have to worry about them getting chilly by pulling out the tshirt.

Just a note, a onesie in parts of our country is known also as a "jumpsuit" and is fairly popular often in the cocktail circuit and can be quite elaborate. Also the children wear them to bed when they are older and they become "bunny suits" and are comfy and warm in cold climates. Who knows what that woman that wanted to wear hers meantIII Anyhow, too much information, and for the record we don't like the block party either but we have no hangups about opening our door, saying hello and moving on politely through the crowd.

  2. Yes thanks,

A good trip,we arrived in London this morning.Julie(frantic36) is still on board doing the British Isles then back to London.

Going back on for dinner when the legend returns to London on the 10th Sept.

Hope we get to meet you then as we board when Julie gets off. I have to know whether to put a good bottle of wine in my suitcase for you.
  3. Tony you are right. It's for staff AND men with a jacket. I am sympathetic to staff as they are loaded with warm clothes and moving fast to accommodate guests so they need the air. I have just learned to dress warmly so I am comfortable and ask for blankets, etc. It works. Won't keep me from cruising but I love the natural air and being able to be outside on warm nights. It really is just our destiny as women who love the warm out of doors to have to cover up inside to be warm and accommodate the majority. It's okay but I sure plan my wardrobe accordingly. I even have been known to wear silk long underwear under my long cocktail pantsuit....perfect solution and so comfy. Even long sleeves for women are not warm because of the light fabric that the air blows through.

Anyway, there is always a solution to dress! Have a great trip and I hope it works for you Mauzac! I already have in my suitcase my "layers" for cold London in September before we sail the unpredictable Med. We will have a great time!

  4. Thank you. I was thinking more of my internal thermostat but I get your meaning. :D
I have thin Southern blood but find most of the ladies feel like me. Bare shoulders in any venues where there is air conditioning and you will freeze. Your husband will love it. I ALWAYS either have pashmina or shawl if I do wear a sundress or something because we love to go out on deck after dinner sometimes. If staying inside ALWAYS long sleeves so I don't have to have a shawl always. Also since my husband always wears a coat to dinner in the dining room I often borrow it...If upstairs in casual venus I ask the servers for their blanket/shawls that they always have for cold guests like me and they bring them out to put around my shoulders that get cold even with the long sleeves. In my opinion, the thermostat in the whole ship is set for a man with a jacket. You have to go to some place packed with bodies dancing, etc. to generate enough heat for a woman to be warm!! This is after MANY Seabourn cruises!
  5. Oops Laraine we've been moved over to the SB board ..... Now don't mention Oceania or we might be made to walk the plank!!!! :D
Nice to see you again on the boards, Fairbourne...even if you got moved here by accident! We still sail SB a lot and really enjoy it and the itineraries!
  6. I am booked on the Quest Montreal to Ft. Lauderdale. Does anyone know if we will go through customs at our first US port, or not until Ft. Lauderdale.

    Thanks! :)

we plan to do this in 2015 so will be interested in your trip and experiences. I do hope you have Global entry....it makes customs and security really a piece of cake!
  7. Well said Flamin June. My sentiments exactly but as we have seen a lot of the world and are this time going on a 42 day port intensive Med cruise, we will make it what we want. Staying on board when most of the ship is gone is really relaxing and the crew seems to try hard to please. There are a number of ports it will be fun to get off and walk around, have lunch if we want and then come back. As much as I love seeing the world, I have to have my Seabourn time also.

  8. According to D E's Facebook page he is only on Legend until 11 September
My information came from Aaron and all he said was that David E was covering for him because I think he leaves Seabourn the end of this month or maybe a little earlier.. We sail on the 11th so maybe that is when David E finishes covering and a new person comes on board. Stay tuned.
  9. Writer 100: You still have had some great trips. We will be in London for four days before we sail on the Legend. Anything you did that you so loved we should do? We have been spending a good bit of the winter in Florida (Naples) hence our cruising in the fall and we always love the Med. Yes we almost went to Omaha for the baseball championship Vandy won....not sure of their football this year...we will be in the Med but they have really improved to the point we actually like to watch them and go to games! Grandchildren are keeping us busy with their events...some of it is fun and some of it is a real duty (like watching a grandson graduate from high school with 750 others in a cramped stadium with bad air conditioning). Hope we get to cruise with you again one day. Next year maybe will be a transatlantic on the big girls. Hi to "she who must be obeyed". I miss MarionH....where did he go?

  10. Perhaps the 'vibration' is suite location dependent? We certainly cannot recall being troubled by it.
We spent three months on it in 2012...LA to LA. The first night the vibration was terrible and they came and put shims in the cracks between the wall and ceiling. That helped enough to get by. It does not seem to be suite dependent. I talked with one of the crew and they pretty much said there was no rhyme or reason to it. When I called, they were johnny on the spot, came right in with the shims. Anyhow I probably would pick the other two over it because of that experience. However, Mark Dexter the captain is so wonderful....I'd probably go anyhow if the itinerary worked for us.
  11. Preparing for our 6th SB cruise, this one on Quest, September 11th, Boston to Montreal. What is odd about this cruise is that the Roll Call has five posts--2 of them mine--and two (mistakenly) from posters from the September 21st cruise. That's it. The absence of posts on the roll call is strange, and is very different from our roll call experiences with other SB cruises. Our hoped for plans for independent shared tours appear to be in jeopardy. Any suggestions for stimulating some posts would be gratefully received.
Hi Writer 100! We almost sailed with you, decided to do long Med cruise instead but will definitely do this itinerary next year...not sure it will be Seabourn tho. Will wait and see. We usually save Seabourn for non/domestic. Let us know how it is, and I do hope you can talk your lovely wife into an international destination one of these days!!
  12. +1

Thank you Flaming June for putting into words how I feel about cruising. It is being on the sea that I love and the crew.

dstamps thank you for taking the time to express your opinion. You are just as entitled to yours as I am to mine. I don't find the crew indifferent but maybe I am one of the people monopolising their time by talking to them and finding out how they are. :o

    Julie

Julie, I agree with you and Flaming June. By being friendly and kind to the staff, were you really monopolizing. I read his post again. I think he did a jealous stab at "regulars". Unfortunately or fortunately there are regulars on all lines and in hotels too! End of my comments on this thread. I had a curiosity as to what was written on this thread and my curiosity is satisfied. On to other things.
  13. The Captain will he Andrew Pedder,a lovely man and a great favourite of mine.i have dined with him many times and was on board for his Fiftieth birthday.

There will be a Hotel Director change on the 6th August but as yet Seabourn Club do not know who it will be,you will be fortunate if it is Karl Eckl.

Enjoy everyone, anybody thought about what the weather will be like in the Baltics and what clothing will be best?

Last time we sailed with Capt. Pedder was in 2009 to South America. Actuallylast time we were on Legend. We had dinner with him also but I am trying to remember if it was he or Captain Bentzseen (sp?) who had the twins. His wife was with him when we had dinner, dark hair and very pretty. We have the lowest segments on the Legend, been on Pride and Spirit three times each and the big girls two each. I am glad to know it was your favorite ship. We have not sailed with Karl but I hear many good things. That Legend trip was fun. Eric DeGray was there with Thorsten the chef and Theresa Haughey, lots of old faces and it was lots of fun. I think the Hotel Director was Victor....
  14. Thanks Laylam and Julie. I went and viewed the video too.. We really enjoyed it. Aaron is fun, entertains well and is very involved with passengers. We had such fun with him last year for three months in the Middle East. IHe was a gymnast and has his picture taken doing a handstand every place he goes. I took one of him doing it on a camel in Petra. He took one of me STANDING in front of the camel, ha! Then he did it again in Luxor on a giant camel. This time I had my picture taken sitting on the camel. Never again. When that camel stood up and went down I was sure I was a goner!!

I will be anxious to hear of any of the staff, Julie and hope some of our favorites are there. The old crews are becoming sparse ad they find other jobs.

  15. Thank you for posting this. I just received an email from friends on board so it was nice to "see" them in a way from your photos. We will be on board in 4.5 weeks and are looking forward to enjoying our final cruise on Seabourn Legend.

    Julie

Hi Julie. As you know we will be on board the first part of Sept but so disappointed that Aaron Seyfert, wonderful cruise director is leaving the ship for other opportunities. We are glad for him but disappointed as we have sailed with him several times. I will love forward to what you have to say about who is CD and the entertainment as you are on before us.
