  1. We found Dexter Tours during our Dec 2016 cruise after being stood up by Blue Safaris boat tour.

Dexter took us to 4 beaches (included Maho & Orient) and a very nice driving tour of Sint Maarten and St Martin in a very comfortable passenger van. His pricing was VERY reasonable for our group of 4.

    His contact info is:

  2. We just got back from our cruise on Sunday. We were booked with Blue Safaris on Sunday, 11th. THEY NO SHOWED!!! We waited 2 hours, called 3 times, emailed, and tried to txt with no response.

We still have not heard from them as of today. I have emailed requesting our deposits back (there were 4 of us) but haven't checked my credit card statement yet.

We have now been on 5 cruises with excursions booked for most all ports and I have never had this happen before! I cannot truly express how royally pissed off I was.

Since this was our first time on Sint Maarten, I was determined to not let the day be a total failure. I ended up running into Dexter who gave us a really great deal to drive us all over St Martin and Sint Maarten. We went to 3 beaches and stopped for lunch at an authentic little cafe. Dexter is such a nice guy who I can 100% recommend if you're looking for a great guide by land.

I misplaced his business card, but will update this post once I find it.

    Bottom line ....

Blue Safaris rated a BIG, FAT F !!

Dexter rated an A+ (he saved our dreadful start on St Maarten)

I finally found Dexter's business card. I highly recommend this young man if you are looking for a nice land tour of Sint Maarten and St Martin in a very comfortable passenger van:

As I commented earlier, he saved our day after being stood up on the pier by Blue Safaris.

  3. I finally received an email tonight from Kirstine. She says they are in the States for a family matter. I can appreciate emergencies happen and family always takes priority! What I cannot understand is zero communication and being left on the pier waiting 2 hours for a tour that was never coming.

My advice if you're booked with them, have a back up plan in case they don't show.

Still not a happy camper about the situation.

  5. I have included a link to download compasses from my Nov. 14 - 19 cruise.

    Day 1 - Sail Away

    Day 2 - At Sea

    Day 3 - Barbados

    Day 4 - St. Lucia

for some reason, I can't find my Day 5. Each page is named, Day 1 pg 1 for example. For some reason they didn't save in the order I downloaded them. Sorry for the confusion, I'm new at this. Hope you all have a great cruise!

    You. Are. AWESOME!

You also saved my bacon!! I had no idea the MDR dress code was different than Carnival's. I am already 3/4 packed and see from the Compasses you posted that dress shorts are not allowed in the MDR. This would have been disastrous because I had packed all dress shorts for the DH for "causal" nights. I now will apparently be changing those out for pants.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post these!!

  7. The first sailing after the dry dock will be on November 14th and I will be on it (Yippee!). I hope all is completed by then. It will be great to see the changes. I will take lots of photos and do a review.

My family is sailing Nov 19th on the Adventure and are excited to see the changes.

We have a group of 4 sailing her in December. If one of you would be so kind to post each day's Compass, pics of the menus, and pics of all the drink menus, I would be very, very grateful! :D

  8. So, I'm a little weirded out by this company. They have fantastic reviews and come highly recommended but they require you to fill out the booking form and give your credit card number before they will answer ANY questions. All I want to know is if the tour times will work with us being in port 8am - 4pm. No email listed and I face booked them and they still refused to answer the question. Has anyone taken the circumnavigation tour for me give me the tour time/pickup location since the company won't?

Wow, really?! I would not be disclosing my credit card just for info either!

We did this tour in 2010 (loved it!) so I looked back on my review notes. The only thing I have noted is that this tour runs on "island time", not ship time. But, our ship arrived at 6:45am so we had plenty of time as I recall.

I would assume that they would be accommodating all ships in port. Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

We will be in Antigua again this December - also arriving at 8am. I am looking for some more details on the Eco Tour if anyone has been on it recently. I read their website's description, but I would like a more detailed list of activities covered. Trying to decide if I want to do the Circumnav again or try something different.

  9. Thanks for the reply! City Center is out and it sounds like Hampton Inn on Sterling Rd is out too! Is there another one that cruisers are using?

Truly we will stay anywhere! This is what we are looking for!

    need transport from airport

    need transport to Port Everglades

    complimentary breakfast

    queen size beds

We are sailing on the Freedom Dec. 4th and also flying in one day early. We opted for Hyatt Place Fort Lauderdale Airport North. We booked thru valuetrips dot com and received a rate of $109. Then we went to Costco and purchased Hyatt gift certificates for $80 with $100 value. This hotel would meet your needs EXCEPT I see they only offer 2 doubles. This hotel is also within walking distance to several restaurants, convenience store and liquor store. Good luck with whatever you choose and have a wonderful voyage!
