  1. Thanks for posting this information.  We are considering Avalon Saigon for January 2025 and there is so little information that I could find from actual passengers.  We really like this as it is such a small vessel and it seems very laid back and casual.

From the little bit I could find, it sounds like the morning excursions leave quite early.  Just curious, how early?  I’m not a night owl so early is fine, just wondering. Also, what time do the afternoon excursions typically return?

I’m sure I’ll have many more questions as we finalize our decision..  thanks!

  2. I posted this on the family cruises forum also, but thought I may have different readership on the Greek forum so posting here also.   I hope this is OK.

My husband and I have taken approx 10 cruises total over the years, with RCCL, Princess, Holland and Celebrity.  The last one was probably over 15 years ago when we decided to concentrate on land based vacations. We would love to take our daughter, her husband and their two kids on a cruise in the next 18 months or so, and have it include Greece, which they’ve always expressed an interest in visiting, and where we have never been either.   My daughter cruised with us a couple times in her teens but hasn’t been since, her husband and kids have never cruised.  The kids are currently 13 (female) and 10 (male).

I would like to rule out Carnival and Disney, but still looking for something that the kids (teen and tween) would enjoy.  Not sure how the cruising world works these days, but really don’t want to pack 2 evening gowns, tuxes etc.  Plus there’s no way my son in law would even wear a sports coat (his idea of getting dressed up is a pair of khaki pants and a collared shirt, with dirty cowboy boots!! 😁).   My granddaughter may want to dress up once, but we’d prefer to be much more casual overall.

Any suggestions on what may be a good starting point for me to research a particular cruise, etc that may fit our criteria?  I’d rather not do a mega ship with 4000 passengers but could sacrifice since the trip is really for them….

I appreciate your ideas and information,  thanks !

  4. I've searched the forum for an answer but can't come up with any definite info. Looking for a true American size King bed configuration on a European River cruise. Hoping to book something for fall (September?) 2015. This will be the first River cruise for us, while we have taken ocean cruises many times and land vacations many times. We would like to take my parents also, will be their first time on any such vacation. They considered a river cruise many years ago but decided against due to no king bed... My father is quite tall. I have gone to the Viking, Uniworld, Scenic and TAuck website but they don't really state bed sizes. Thanks.

  5. Thinking of booking the Eurodam Apr 22, 7 day mediterranean cruise for our 20th anniversary. We have been on 8-10 cruises previously but took the past few years off in exchange for land vacations. Therefore I am very rusty and out of date on cruise info! Really want to book one of the aft corner superior or deluxe suites as we've had these before on a different HAL and Princess ship and loved them. I've searched everything and can't figure out how to determine if any of these are still avail on this sailing, and if so, which exact ones. Seems like in the past I was able to determine exact stateroom availability. Has that gone by the wayside in the past 7 years or so, or am I just not finding it?

Thanks... Looking forward to cursing again!
