  1. Just got email, for Harmony sailing 8/18, 8/25, 9/1, or 9/8. Too bad we are already booked on the Allure...

I too just got that e-mail, and it's completely useless to me since I'm booked on Allure and Oasis on all those dates, BUT...

This is the FIRST e-mail I have ever received from Club Royale! And this is on top of a snail mail for the 2018 Holiday Event (called Jingle Jangle) which is the first of those since late 2016.

It may be too early to declare some success, but this may be a result of two separate actions taken:

The first was to have any reference to other family members removed from my C&A number. (We used to be able to add them for quick booking, but not on the new web site, and thus have to have C&A remove the residual references manually. (I was told that offers are not sent to folks who have multiple people 'associated' with the same membership or e-mail)

The second was to use a new e-mail ID for 'marketing' communication. (I was told that Comcast was trashing anything sent to one of their IDs)

    I'm keeping fingers crossed ..

  2. I never saw anything about January - December as an earning year. What I was told, and which matched the tier I received the 1st year was going to be July 2016- December 2017. The second year of the program your tier would be determined from January 1, 2018-March 31, 2019 and after that it would be April 1st - March 31st.

Well... I understand even LESS about the new program than I THOUGHT I did a month ago!

Casino Host told me last Thursday that the earning period for April 1st 2019 to March 31st 2019 was April 1st 2018 to March 31st 2019.

    "That's not what I'd heard..."

"We just had the official roll-out from Josh"

Asked Casino Manager who said "She's right. January 1st to March 31st".

I said " No, that's different from what she said".

"Let me get the 'official roll-out chart' and show you"

Chart shows Jan 1st 2018 to to March 31st 2019 AND '24months for FIRST earning period'

    24 months? What's this 24 months?

"Let me check, this may not be latest version...."

    "Checking with Head Office"

No response from Head Office by late Saturday night.

Official web site still shows confusing nonsense on the subject.

    Who knows?

  3. I did not receive an email but I thought I would call and see if I could book our complimentary cruise. I was told I was Prime but I could not book a cruise because he didn't have certificate to know what my offers are. He indicated that there are cruises I need to pick from, and if I didn't like any of them that I could use the value of the certificate towards another cruise. He indicated that the offers are not the same for everyone in the same tier, sounds like different levels within the tiers now, not just a blanket set of rules, the cruise has to be 8 days or less, no holidays, etc. I don't think he understood what I was wanting to do.

The guy you talked to didn't understand it was a 'tier annual reward' The rules are the same for all within a tier!

  4. Hi Colin. How are you doing? Here's what I "know" so far.

I just called to book our "prime" free cruise. And neither my wife nor I are in the system for a free cruise certificate. They have us down as prime, but just not down for the free cruise.

The lady I talked to was as helpful as anyone could be. She could see we were both prime members, but not down for the free cruise certificate. I told her we didn't use it yet, and she said this all just started yesterday. She allowed me to book a cabin with just the port charges and fees. But the cabin is on the invoice for full price. The only thing I paid was the port charges and fees which I can get refunded if anything goes sideways.

The sail date I wanted is in July of 2018, so not much availability.

I was also told that they would give a $500 credit towards any sailing. In lieu of the free cruise. If I wanted to upgrade.

    We will see.

Hi rt. I'm fine. The 500 credit is consistent with an 'lnside' certificate I guess.

  5. You were in land long enough to call them? 😂 Did you get the email? Wondering if they are doing them in alphabetical order or something. We still have not received anything but do know are levels.

Yes, I thought I'd use this week to resolve things.

No email, but I have NEVER had email from CR, so that didn't surprise me!

  6. That's the way it reads, although as far as the drinks and 5% fee waiver, it seems hard to believe they wouldn't continue to base those perks on the last cruise. Perhaps the Casino Host will have some discretion with those, it's anyone's guess.

That's why a much simpler explanation is that the information posted (and in the letter) is just wrong!

Otherwise any credits earned from January 2018 to March 2019 wouldn't count for anything!

Separately in a call to CR this morning I learned that ALL the tier 1 (Masters) cruises had been 'loaded into the accounts' last night. But... mine wasn't there

  7. I never saw anything about January - December as an earning year. What I was told, and which matched the tier I received the 1st year was going to be July 2016- December 2017. The second year of the program your tier would be determined from January 1, 2018-March 31, 2019 and after that it would be April 1st - March 31st.

I'd be OK with that too. The web site indicates that the tier level for April 2019 to March 2020 (and onward)will be determined in the "SAME" program year, not in any prior period.

Of course the simplest explanation is merely that the web site information is wrong! After all they only had a year or so to get the wording right...

  8. 13. Club Royale offers Members the opportunity to reach various Tier Levels.

. a. For Tier Credits earned on or before April 1, 2018, the following rules shall apply:

. b. For Tier Credits earned after April 1, 2019, the following rules shall apply.

    . i. A Program Year means the period from April 1 of a calendar year through March 31 of the following calendar year;

    . ii. Tier Credits earned during one Program Year will be used by Club Royale to determine the Member’s Tier Level status for that SAME Program Year;

. iii. At the beginning of each Program Year, the number of Tier Credits held by each Member shall be reset to zero.

Well that's as clear as mud! What rules for 13a? What about credits earned between April 1, 2018 and April 1, 2019? Do we all REALLY start with NO tier (and zero credits) on April 1, 2019?

The whole concept of Jan to Dec as an earning year, and April to March as the reward year, has gone!

    This is crazy!

  9. I have cruised with my niece before (on balcony cabins) and have been able to access the CL with my own card, given her D+ status without problem. Since the last time we cruised was 2013, and so many changes happening, I was wondering if this too, changed.

Well, you've had the "official" position multiple times, but there has been no change in this since the last time you cruised with her in 2013, and you should NOT have been able to access the CL with your card since you were in balcony cabins. Since you were it was a fortuitous mistake (and it may happen again).

How strongly the rules are enforced varies by concierge.

  10. Bob - I asked the question in another thread that now seems to have been removed but I'd still like an answer if you happen to know.

In the instance that you book a cabin as a twin and your travel buddy doesn't show so you end up sailing as a solo in a double paid room would you still be eligible for the double points?

Reason I ask is because I have a cruise booked with my father who isn't in the best of health and may not make it. I had a friend lined up to take his place but she has now booked her own room with a family member. We both booked Promenade rooms on Voyager which have max occupancy of 2 and we really don't want to change our category as we aren't happy with any of the room locations left. If I'm eligible for the double points in this case then I'd be happy to continue with the booking as it is but if I weren't able to get those points I'd be trying pretty hard to find someone else to tag along with me but I'd rather keep the room to myself (it will be my birthday on board after all so why shouldn't I? :D). Yes I still have a few months until the cancellation window kicks in but I was a rookie at the time that booked through a travel agent that charges a cancellation fee (but then again I don't really have any intention of not going at all!).

I've had to do this on a number of bookings and the situation is not quite as straightforward as some of the responses would indicate.

First, as soon as you have a decision on whether your father can travel, get your TA to get RC to re-price the booking. This will be close to (but not exactly) the original price for 2. The reasons for differences are that you'll only have one set of taxes, one set of insurance, and any discounts and OBC will be pro-rated down. Depending on which of those you had it may be higher, or lower!

Second, if you both had insurance, don't forget that there are 2 separate insurances which need to be settled separately. Even if your father cancels early enough to get all of his fare back, your insurance will still cover the extra costs of the single supplement; in effect letting you cruise for roughly half the original cabin fare. The insurance company will expect you to inform RC as soon as you know he cannot travel.

Either way, the re-pricing of the ticket will ensure the extra points get credited to your account.

  11. Majesty 4-night itinerary (Nassau, CocoCay, Key West) for $109, inside room, no single supplement!:D

It was a last minute deal booked just days before sailing.

Hard to top that for absolute numbers, but for value:

Grandeur 3-night repo (Colon to Miami) for $86.50pp ($149pp with CAS balcony discount $125) for JS with complimentary upgrade to GS

Also had to use some miles to get to Panama
