  1. Wow I didn't realize that about the kids programs on Disney. I think that makes our decision. We will definitely try Disney at somepoint but will stick with royal Caribbean on this one. We currently have a family balcony room booked on Symphony and from what I have seen the room looks awesome. Wish we could cruise sooner but with my wife being pregnant we will just have to wait for this cruise. Thanks everybody that info makes me feel better about the decision.

  2. Thank you everybody for your info. We are currently leaning towards doing royal caribbean since we have done a lot of Disney world/beach trips in the last couple years. We also wouldn't mind saving the money by going with royal. We currently have a family ocean balcony held on Symphony.

  3. Thank you for the info. That is great advice we can use on either one. Both ships have rooms that accommodate 5. We have priced out the family rooms and two connecting rooms. Kind of unsure which rooms or setups would be better. We have no experience with Disney cruise line but we have lots with Disney world and vacation club, that is what makes us look into dcl. We are leaning towards Symphony but it's a tough decision as they are both close in price. DCL would be about $1000 more.

  4. Hi all, a little about us first, my wife and I have cruised before having kids. Three on royal Caribbean and once on celebrity. We have been on freedom, liberty, allure and celebrity solstice. We are having another child this December. We are looking at doing a cruise fall or winter 2018. We were thinking we should book early in hopes of getting a better price. We are mainly looking at the Dec 8, 2018 sailing of Symphony of the Seas or the December 1, 2018 sailing of Disney Fantasy. These are both 7 night eastern Caribbean cruises. There itineraries are different but we like both. At the time our kids will be 5, 3, and 11 months. We have never cruised with kids and we just aren't sure which way to go plus what cabin or cabins to go with. Thanks for the help!

  5. Ft lauderdale (port Everglades) is really convenient. The airport is 10 minutes from the port. Plus the area is nice. The airfares are generally cheaper into fll. As much as we love to use port Everglades, we really do want to try a cruise leaving San Juan. I think your review has definitely convinced us to do it in 2013. If you haven't been on allure or oasis you should look into them. They are a lot of fun!

  6. But you can get shots like mine! I didn't just start out this awesome. lol :-) Practice makes perfect (well not perfect but less of the suck factor for sure!)

I'd like to recommend a book that is really the only book I ever read that helped me. It's called "Understanding Exposure". This book delves into the most important part of a photo : the light. After that, it's all practice, understanding your lenses, your subject material, your composition, your ability to look at a scene and wonder "what shot will everyone else take?" and then step back and take a different one. Photoshop helps and it took me nearly 3 years to get to a place where I truly felt like I understood the program and it's complex variety of capabilities.

Thanks for crossing over here just to comment on my thread. I appreciate it!

My wife and I recently got a new camera body. It had been a while and we are really excited about it. I just finished reading a Digital Photography book series written by Scott Kelby. I am definitely gonna pick up the book you suggested. Thanks!

  7. Getting off the liberty in port Everglades is a huge pain. It is much worse than allure. Terminal 25 which is what liberty uses is just not big enough for the size of the ship. We had an earlier departure time and it was a complete mess. We had to get off on deck 1 which led to a big back up in the ship. Once outside they had us walk to another terminal to go through customs. I hope they have the progress more organized for your cruise. We were only the second cruise back stateside for liberty. That was our only issue and we had a great cruise!

  8. Unfortunetly I dont remember everything, but here is generally what they have.

Breakfast- Create your own bagel. Breakfast egg sandwiches. Breakfast burrito. lots of different pastry and fruit.

Lunch- the very good roast beef sandwich. A bunch of different paninis that they make to order and then bring to your table. Create your own salad bowl, which are huge!

We never went to dinner there but I assume it is similar to lunch.
