  1. Thanks so much I have an 8P , very excited to spend Christmas on Splendor.

We have an 8S in Sept I will let you know how it is..We had to choose an 8S due to the fact we are traveling with children no 4 pax spa balconies cabins on deck 10..My husband loves his spa time..Happy Travels Lisa

  2. A quick question that I hope I have not missed the answer to on this board already.

What is the difference between 8P and 8S .I wanted a Spa Balcony and have Cabin 1044 listed as 8P, hope this is a Spa Cabin ,this is for Christmas sailing.

    Thank You

They are both spa cabins 8p is deck 10... 8s is deck 11..there are regular balcony cabins on deck 10 as well...I would double check when you book..lisa

  3. We sailed on the 6/27 cruise, cabin 1115. We did feel some of the motion but it wasn't too bad, more of a gentle rocking. The first night I did wake up, but that was because the seas were pretty rocky and the glasses in our room kept clinking :) This was my first cruise and I was worried I'd experience sea sickness, so I started with the Bonine prior to arriving in Long Beach. I had zero issues with sea sickness the whole time.

Our steward was Boo Boo and he was nice. The cabin was a nice size considering there were 4 of us (me, DH, and our two small children). The motion didn't bother us, but there was a tiny bit of noise at one point one night - the cabin is right near the door that leads to the water slide. It wasn't annoying at all, just something I noticed.

Thanks for the information..did you use the spa? I paid for an upgrade for this cabin DH loves the spa..How were the open balconies? I tried to book on deck 10 but no 4 pax cabins..I too have young children there school is closed the week we are cruising and they are so excited! Thanks again for the info..Lisa

oops one more thing did your children go to the camp? did they enjoy it?..

  4. It is difficult to see if they are covered or not from the picture, hopefully someone who has stayed in one will respond with a yes or no.

I would not want to have a balcony that was not covered from above as that would be even less private than the other balconies. :p

I agree I do not know why there are no for 4 pax spa baconies on deck 10 so we had no choice but to book on 11..I have been reassured that it is quiet and below the adult serenity deck..I am doing this for my husband he is deploying twice in one year and he loves his spa time..otherwise I would have booked a regular balcony..We also got a great deal not much more than a regular cabin...thanks for the review...

  5. I understand that the spa balconies on deck 11 are not covered. Anyone know if the ones on deck 10 are open or covered above?

From what I can see they are..We are on deck 11 for Sept. they were the only spa balconies for 4 pax..I would have rather been on deck 10..my husband loves the fact the balcony is open he is all about the sun..I just hope the noise at night is not a factor..Lisa

I just looked at the picture and there are several on deck 10 that are open! That is a great shot thanks for posting...

  6. This is a strange request.. does anyone have a picture of the Splendor from the side..the full length of the ship...I looked online but the photos were taken when the ship was far away..I am looking for one close up..Thanks again to everyone on this thread it is great! Lisa

  7. Mathgeek, posted some great photos. YEAH!

Notice the lady with the STOP SIGN? If you are a Carnival VIP... just walk to the left side of her to a small building to sign up for your cruise card.

VIPS get their cruise cards right away at that building. You just have to wait if the main door hasn't opened yet for boarding. Once the door opens stay to the right lane to get into the main cruise building to go through security and then you are free to go to the elevator or escalators to go onto the gangway.

Once you are on the ship... the first stop will be the buffet unless your cabin has already been cleaned. The cabins are usually ready by 1:30 to 2p.m. That has been my experience. All the fire doors leading to your cabins will be closed until the cabins are cleaned up and ready.

I can hardly wait for my cruise! Lucy

Lucy I wish you were coming with us in Sept. you would be a fantastic guide! This thread is really informative..

  8. thanks everyone for all the great info and pics. does anyone know how far away is parking? is there a very long walk from the parking lot to the ship? we have 2 large carryons so i am hoping the walk isnt too long. thanks :)

I was told you drop your luggage with the porters then park.. I wish I had more info as well..Lisa

This is a great thread I am sure somone will be able to answer your question...

  9. I'm sorry for your loss. I hope your cruise helps you both to relax. I've been there and it's not easy.

Do you know if it's possible to pay in advance for a spa pass?

I am so sorry for your loss...

You have to get the passes on board I just called last week I wanted to get a pass for my husband..She suggested to check with the spa the day of embarkation as they are first come first serve..

  10. Lisa, the space will be fine for the 4 of you. The cabin is 184sq.feet. It does have a sofa which is nice for your kids to sit on and watch t.v.

You will also have two bathrobes to use and a hair dryer. There are two closets or a large closet in the cabin.

Since your kids know the rules for the balcony you all will be fine.

    Have fun cruising. Lucy

Lucy thanks again for your help...Lisa

  11. Thanks for everyones input..The boys are really good travelers and as far as boys go they are well behaved..My concern about the OV is being inside when they go down at 8pm..I am a nervous nelly too, but I think if we lay down the law they will be fine. When we lived in Bogota they were 3 and we were on the 5th floor they knew not to step on the balcony! We have cruised before but this will be a first with the kids..again thanks for all the good information..

is the space really tight in this cabin for 4?

  12. Thanks again for all the information..has anyone had 4 in a balcony cabin..we were going to get connecting OV rooms but my soon ro be 7 year old twins go down fairly early so i opted for the balcony so we can have a place to sit and relax once the boys are in bed..or should I say for me to sit and relax while my husband is playing cards!

  13. Was on the Splendor last May. It only took me 6 days to figure this one out but I'll be using it next month:

When exiting the Gold Pearl dining room continue through the Robusto Lounge all the way to the rear right hand side. Exit the lounge and contine walking down a hallway until you see a set of stairs. Take those stairs and you will be on the deck above at the Coffee Shop / Tapas Bar.

You can also take this way in as well and avoid all the crowding on the stairs waiting to get in.

Good to know we will be on her in Sept..I have heard from different sources that the ship can be difficult to find your way around..Thanks fo the info! have a good evening..Lis

  14. I agree the OPEN AFT DESIGN is what makes the SPLENDOR a must do. Reminds me of my favorite class the SPIRIT class. There are also pics of the SPLENDOR in my WEBSHOTS (below).

Not sure if they're still onboard, but the rock bank VOODOO was super spectacular. The lead singer doing Janis Joplin's songs was an exact duplicate of her voice and style.:)

Greatest embarcation area Carnival has, IMHO. :D

    Great pictures thanks so much!

  15. Is there a big difference in the main dining rooms..does anyone have a preferance as far as seating..If we ask a table for 4 are they good about honoring your request..Thanks for starting this thread..have a great day..Lis
