Awesome photos zd! Always love seeing those Disney photographs! Love the tiny village!

Shot the Singing Christmas Tree again this year... with much better glass ( EF 24-70mm and 100mm Macro both F 2.8 @ 800 and 1600 ISO on a Canon T1i... can't wait until next year when I order my 5D MK II). Sure beats the ones I took with my Sigma 18-250mm last year. Good glass is GREAT!!!
I have also been spending almost all of my free time in the Linville Gorge Wilderness Area (the Grand Canyon of the East located in Western NC) as of late! Hiking and making photographs... what else could be better???
i really love playing around with my iPhone 4S (that camera on that thing is amazing!) and Snapseed software (the Nik Software Guys). Great combo! It is hard to believe you can take a picture on your smartphone, edit it , and then upload it to the internet all from the SAME device! Love this photographic technology!

Whimsy, any of the big camera manufacturers (Sony, Canon, Panasonic, Samsung, and even Nikon) make great cameras. The big thing is to pick a 'camera system' that will grow with you. If you have a friend that has picked Canon, Sony or Nikon, it might be a good idea to get a camera so you can try out their lenses if they are so inclined to let you.
I really like Canon and with their interchangeable lens systems on DSLR's as I can chose to do many different types of photography just by adding a lens with the capability you want. That being said, zackiedawgs Sony DSLR shots are awe inspiringly sharp and beautiful.I have been playing around with DSLR's for around 2 years now, and still have much to learn.
I made the mistake of being obsessed with ZOOMS when I found out that I can do so much more with wide angle lenses (group shots and landscapes). A good 18-55 kit lens will get you a long ways. Learn it and then upgrade to whatever genre or genres that interest YOU!
Also take a look at these new mirrorless cameras such as the micro 4/3 rds or the Sony E-mount. Several folks on here (including myself) have the Sony NEX series and with that 16mm f 2.8 lens you can take some awesome shots (most of my Empire State Buildings shots were taken with this setup).
The biggest thing is to get out and SHOOT!
BTW that T2i is NICE!:)

NOPE! It's just the only time I can actually keep a camera or two in my hands all day long and nobody fusses at me for it!

NYC was looking pretty this morning.
Nice!

I too have had a hard time getting out to shoot, but this afternoon I went on a photowalk with nothing but my T1i, EF 100mm Macro F 2.8 IS and Vanguard Tripod (the one that has that crazy center tilt column that was just made for macro work).
I almost didn't get IS on a Macro, but after going handheld to chase bees, I am glad for that option.

Playing around with my Canon EF 100mm f 2.8 IS on a Vanguard 263AGH Tripod.
If I keep saving enough of these guys, I can afford to go on a cruise someday soon;)

Wow! Love the reflection and the subject!

Thanks Dave :)
Zackie got to love the NEX-5... I am waiting for that 30mm macro due out in October. Fun Camera!:D

Thanks Bruce, Larry and Zackie :)
The HDR shot was my first ever attempt at it, so I am glad I tweaked it right! Don't see myself using it for every shot, but it does come in handy in the right circumstances.
ZackieDawg, it sure is a fun little combo to play around with. Can't wait till next month when I spend a few days in NYC before our cruise up in the NE to shoot with my little NEX, will probably go WIDE! Also your wildlife pics are truly 'jaw dropping amazing ' and never fail to inspire me! Keep up the awesome work and continue to share them with us on CC:) Count me a fan!

Magnolia Fly, love your herb shots :)
Thanks ion-man. All you need to know about shooting moving water is keep your shutter speed slow and camera steady (tripod). Good luck!
-
Nice shots, just curious, what shutter speed did you use / aperture?
I was floating around 1/2 to 2 seconds on shutter speed. For aperture I was playing around f8-f22. I was also using a .9 neutral density filter on some of the shots. I also used AEB, auto exposure bracketing to add and subtract 1 stop of light.
I only wish I got to the falls before the sun burned out the top of the falls.
Lots of fun!

Wife told me to take a hike, so I did... up to a waterfall... I think she was glad I came back ;)

My Nephew recently purchased a sword and wanted me to transform him into a Ninja Warrior. Spent around 30 minutes shooting this and it was my first time posing someone. It was a bunch of fun for both of us :D
