Well, we just got an email notifying us that BH has been cancelled on our Sept. 14 cruise, and replaced with an overnight in Saint John, as well as a longer day in Halifax.  I'm happy; my cruise has been improved!

Sweet!  Yes, that'll be much more interesting. I was in New Brunswick years ago, and I have really been wishing my cruise to Nova Scotia would have included NB.  Lucky you!

We had a wonderful day with a rental car. It was easy to pick it up and return it near the port. We drove out to Lunenburg and walked the waterfront and Old Town Lunenburg which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. We shopped, and enjoyed some lobster and fish and chips at the Fish Shack (very friendly staff and great food). Then we drove out to Peggy's Cove. On our way, we spotted a beautiful memorial which is about three miles before you get to the lighthouse. It honors the people who perished in 1998 on a Swissair flight and also has views of Peggy's Cove. Yes, Peggy's Cove is extremely touristy but the drive and landscapes and food along the way were magnificent. On the drive back we stopped for another lobster near Peggy's Cove but not at it from a U-Cook Lobster Truck. Great day!

Hi, where did you end up getting your rental car from?  I have a group of 10 people looking for a van to do our own trip over to the Bay of Fundy.

Our ship will be arriving in Charlottetown at 7:00am and will depart at 6:00pm in October.  The ship's tours don't look very interesting.  Does anyone have suggestions on what we might do for the day?

Hi, I agree--I haven't seen a lot that interests me.  I did find this list of boat tours in Charlottetown that look interesting for something a little more active and out on the water.  I don't know anything about them, so do your research, but we love to be on the water rather than walking or riding in a van, so I'm going to check some of these out.  THE 10 BEST Charlottetown Boat Rides, Tours & Water Sports (tripadvisor.com).  I also found a Segway tour, but it's not super close so I don't think I'll do that one.

  4. Hi,

I was all set to stay "inside the walls" of Quebec City for the night after our cruise, but now we just booked a 530am flight, ugh.  Now our group would prefer to stay near the airport therefore.  Anyone have suggestions of a hotel near the airport?
