  1. This is not to talk you out of it at all, b/c I found the approach to Hamburg surprisingly interesting. Not in person--but I've been watching the Jade's bow cam quite a lot lately (mostly for the fjords).

Jade has been arriving early lately. On June 4th, Jade got to Hamburg around 6:30am. And on the 13th, it got there just after 6am.

You can check the cam on the upcoming Hamburg mornings around 6am CET:

Or if you aren't awake/available to do that, you can also check this link, later on during the Hamburg days:

  2. Thank you, that's what I thought, but then, what is the Jade going to do until the 4th, I guess that's the question ;)

According to Marine Traffic, Jade is almost to Tampa  What's up with that? Maybe they're going to continue working on the finishing touches while she's docked in Tampa Bay.

Maybe we'll just keep watching the Tampa webcam for signs of the Jade.

They may be planning a short private cruise for friends/family and/or travel agents (?)

  3. Oh yeah, forgot to mention--my daughter Casey works for NCL--she just got off the Sun from a six month contract (photographer)--(see my post on the SUN page)-- and she Face Booked up with our steward who sent her pics this morning of the Jade in port with a HUGE dumpster overboard filling up with all sorts of debris and the decks getting stripped--pretty cool...(I also saw a link in here someone posted on the U Tubes--time lapse of dry dock renovation on a ship...)

Wow--what a really neat job! She must love it :)

Hopefully your steward can send more pics as it goes along, and you can post them here.

  4. We left the Jade this morning---Walking out of the Port, there was a large crowd of people in line to board the Jade--obviously the "worker bees" waiting to get on. And confirmed multiple times while on board, it will be a THREE week dry dock, so they will be HUMPING that ship to get er done....

    Hi nadirsup,

Did you save any of your Daily Programs? If so, could you upload 1 or 2 of them? Just the 3rd pages, the section that lists the evening entertainers.

  5. My family has vacationed in NOLA for all my life.

    ....

If you cruise from NOLA you start in the brown river, but it is interesting to sail along to the Gulf of Mexico where you see oil rigs lit up at night. By the next morning you are down in the Caribbean sea.

THIS. Cruising out of New Orleans is unique and special b/c you start out sailing along the winding river. It takes the whole night to get down to the sea. I've never found any other port like it.

  6. Yes, several solo guitarists that are also members in the Big Band group. Matt and Vaughn for sure and I think another named Jim. The Big Band did a New Orlean jazz show in the Medusa one night and the Beatles tribute in the Spinnaker.

    Right--that's them, thanks :)

I never realized that they were also part of a bigger band.

By the way, I really like your photos. They're so vivid!

  7. Sorry, I didn't save them. I don't know how helpful they will be since this was the only cruise with this itinerary.

If you have a specific question, I might be able to help.

    Thanks :)

I was on the cruise right before yours, and am just interested in comparing the different entertainers.

As you said, we didn't have Soul Wave, and we also didn't have any big band players. On our cruise, there were several different solo guitarists, playing afternoons and evenings in the atrium. Did you see any solo guitarists at all, or was it big band-ers every night?

    Thanks for your reviews.

Did either of you save any of the Freestyle Dailies from your cruise? If so, could you scan a couple of the days + post them?

Just the 3rd pages = "What's Happening Today", showing all of the activities and times.

    Thank you!

  9. Hi Mel,

I'll get those dailies together for you now.

RJ Red was not playing in the atrium. It was Jim Capik, but he is really great, too--NCL has some talented musicians! He also plays guitar + sings, and also plays harmonica. If he's still on for your cruise in spring, you may like to hear him :)

  10. thanks a lot!!

could you send the gym schedule to melaniedenkmann (at) gmail.com ??

do you have more informations (freestyle dailys)

is RJ Red on board -love his guitar playing

78 days -than we will be on board

    thanks a lot

    best regards

    Melanie

    Hi Melanie,

I'll email you the gym info tomorrow. My email will be the one that starts out "treehugger".

I do also have all of the dailies. Did you want me to email those too? Do you want all of the pages (4 each day X 10 days), or just specific pages?

Is RJ Red a solo player? Was he playing at night in the atrium on your cruise, or?

    Vicky

  11. Hi Mel71,

I was on Jade last month, and I have a copy of the gym schedule here, but it hasn't been letting me upload the pages, b/c of a "missing security token". I'll keep trying, and eventually it will hopefully let me post them for you.

On our cruise, there were "stretch" classes every day, twice/day--at 7am and 5pm. These are free, and quite good, and are fine for beginners. The instructors will be the same as for the "pay" yoga classes ($12 each class), so you could go to the free classes first + see what you think. As for the yoga classes--they were every sea day at 8am (7:30am was an abs workout class). The main difference between stretch and yoga--in the yoga class, they do "official" positions. So, you'll want to do some of these if you're wanting to learn names/positions. The free stretch classes incorporate some yoga moves, but they don't focus on specific positions as such.

You'll get a lot out of the free classes, and then you also may want to do paid yoga some days, too.
