Free hotel shuttles are often not all they are cracked up to be :(.  We have been at some hotels where you sign up for a specific time and will find yourself waiting around the lobby for an hour (or longer) and finally being crammed into a very crowded van.  That van then might make 3 or 4 stops (to drop off others at different ships) before you even get to your vessel.  Personally, we have found it is just not worth the hassle and usually call Uber (which is generally less than $10) to get a nice private drive from our hotel to the ship.  It is interesting that one of the most popular pre cruise hotels, the Embassy Suites on 17th St, does not offer any free shuttles (they have paid shuttles which cost more then Uber/Lyft for a couple).

    Thanks so much, Hank!

With vacations, too many fall into the trap of looking for what is "free" and "included". A $250 hotel with a free shuttle is not a better deal than a similar hotel for $180 with a $10 Uber ride. Find a hotel that suits your needs (location, amenities, price, etc). Compare your total price of everything.

    LOL So true! Ty!

Interesting placement of capital letters in your posts. I always know it's you! :)

I'm honestly not sure what you're asking. Are you hoping the forecast is wrong? If it pours, just pull off the highway and go somewhere for a cuppa. It'll clear up soon and you'll be on your way once again. Have a great cruise!

  5. Hi, Has anyone made a drive to Florida recently??? We are looking to plan a last minute cruise out of Miami for 6/28 aNd looking at our route driving, it shows showers 40% everyday thru out && I was hoping if someone could help us with ... is this everyday Does it actually rain?? Heavy???? We just dont want to be caught in the torrential rain that Florida gets.

  6. the galley is located from the midship elevators to the aft elevators. Not all rooms below the galley will hear noise, but some rooms do hear noises from above late into the night. Some rooms are perfectly quiet, some rooms are horrible. Outside of that area below the galley, there shouldn't be any problems. I have found that being below a dining room is the most perfect location on the ship. They are carpeted for when people are in there, and they are totally empty all night long. It's even better than having a stateroom above you. Being below the theater is fine, unless you go to bed before 11:00-11:30 or if you take naps when they might be doing rehearsals during the day.

Other than that, deck 2 is a great deck! It's my favorite deck of all. The rooms are just as good as equal rooms (inside to inside) on any other floor. Higher rooms do not receive better service or better amenities or "better people". Plus, deck 2 is very close to the theater, dining rooms, and where you get off/on the ship. You may never need an elevator during the times that the elevators are crazy busy.

    thank you! :)

  7. Hi, due to booking a cruise last minute, the only available rooms are on the Main deck 2 & lower... We booked a cabin on deck 2 in front of ship. We have never stayed on either of these floors & was looking for advice??? Are they decent?? Would u suggest changing ships for better room? Thank you! ;)
