These are the rules as I understand them:

A day 2 test does not need to be booked if you are travelling directly from your arrival airport to the port for embarkation (less than 24hrs). You say "in transit" on the PLF.

However, if you are in the UK more than 24 hrs prior to the cruise departure then you must book and pay for a day 2 test... you are then not in transit and you put your test booking reference on the PLF. Should the ship sail as expected you will not need to actually take the test even though you paid for it. If it turns out you are still in the UK on day 2 (arrival day is day 0) then you must take the test.

I think this is grossly unfair but that is the requirement as it stands as I understand it.

The same rules apply for when you return to the UK after the cruise... Submit a PLF 48hrs prior to sailing... if in transit (less than 24hrs and direct travel to airport) then no day 2 test required... if in UK more than 24hrs between arriving back on the cruise and your flight home then book and pay for a day 2 test but only take the test if still in the UK on day 2 (arrival in country is day 0).

  2. I would appreciate any information regarding the 2 day test requirement.  We are fully vaccinated arriving from the US staying in England less than 24 hours.  Where do we get the test or at least a number to put on the locator form? How much does it cost and does anyone know of a reputable source? Would greatly appreciate any info. Thank you.

  3. There is no customs check for arriving pax, no passport cks as you are already in the EU. So you just carry off your bags or pick them up in the terminal. Next, catch the shuttle bus (free) to the port gate. Takes some time to fill up each bus and load/off load the baggage. The bus ride itself is only 10 minutes. So getting off the ship and getting out of the port may take an hour. Taxis/limos are available at the bus stop which is quite congested. The cost of the transport purchased there is much less than what Celebrity charges for the transfer. Check in at the airport is OK but you have to go thru security and the trek to the gate is quite long including a train trip ala Denver or Atlanta.
