Our kids are 10 and 8. We were told there are about 100 kids on this cruise. Works well because we dont need to worry about kids club filling up.

Ours have not been bored at all. Lots to do for them. They are having a blast and made a bunch of friends.

Weve done two trips out land from the ship today theyve been forklifting supplies in all day. All ive seen so far is beer and toilet paper 🤣🤣

Super helpful! It seems like there is a lot to do on the ship.

Just off the 10 night Quantum transpacific. Absolutely worse food ever on any cruise ship, MDR and WJ specifically, Two70 fell to a all time low for quality.   Chop's and Jamies were exceptional. 7 days of rain caused almost everyone to be inside. We have done 5 transatlantics on Oasis Class and all have been fantastic. Very little for kids to do on Quantum Class for 10 - 12 days.  Quantum is just too small for us, we are in our late 60"s.

We really prefer Oasis or even Freedom class, but we specifically want to do TP vs TA. I was an exchange student to NZ in high school and have been wanting to go back for years, so we thought this would be a fun way to do it. Our kids are pretty happy to swim, do the flow rider, bumper cars, iFly, etc. They will also have to spend some time doing school work. I like the itinerary that Brilliance does better, but there is just so little for the kids to do on that ship.

We are on Day 5 of the Quantum TP and so far internet has been good for catching up on emails. So far food has been very good. We have been doing Coastal Kitchen and have a 5-dinner dining package. Did Chops the other night and it was very good.

    Thanks for chiming in!

We are on the tp right now headed to Sydney. We have the surf stream package and have had no issues so far. Kids have logged in and watched disney plus with no problems. Weve video called home with no issues.

Oh good. If you can stream, I don't think I'd have any issues opening files and such.

They do pick up some food along the way to replenish. It would be the menus repeating that might get boring to some, but I’m fine with it.

Great to know they replenish along the way, thank you!

The internet is yet to be determined due to the change to Starlink. As things are now, I'd be leery of any work which required video conferencing or streaming in general. It can also be highly variable from one part of the ship to another. Do not expect good wifi on your balcony for example.

As for the food, the blahness may come from repetition. I've never noticed the quality changing over the course of a longer cruise. I believe they have the ability to add provisions in some ports as well? If you do the ship's tour you can see they have storage facilities maximized for each type of food. Produce at a certain temperature and humidity, dairy at another, etc.

That was helpful, thank you! I could get away with no video/streaming, but would need to access files online.

And thanks for the food comments. It just seems that by like day 6 the salads and such are sort of floppy.

  5. Hi all! We are in the very early stages of planning a possible Transpacific sailing in Spring 2025. Since the itineraries aren't out yet, I'm using the 2024 sailings as a starting point, specifically the April 4, 2024 sailing on Quantum. We have three boys who would be 12, 10, and 8 in 2025, so we would really prefer Quantum class (or greater) so there is plenty to do during the many at-sea days. A couple questions that we have so far:

    1) How is the internet when in the middle of the Pacific Ocean? I'd likely need to do at least some work during the cruise.

    2) Our longest sailing to date is 8 days, and we have a 9 day coming up. The food generally gets a bit blah towards the end. How is it at the end of 15 days? Is the produce terrible? Does stuff just start to taste...not great?

Idk about the other ports. Key west voted again against larger cruise ships docking..maybe last night.

Bimini is a beach, and not much more.

Coco cay cruise it will only cost more, enjoy coco cay.

I know a lot who booked the b2b 9 and 10 days. The 10 day has 2 new ports. Columbia and panama. Be glad you got coco cay imo out Galveston. I would have except I have oasis next spring break. If you were worried post and ask before you book !! Lol now is too late to worry. Just go and make the most of it.

Definitely not too late, deposit isn’t due until the 10th and I can extend that option for another week or so. I saw that 10 day and that seems super cool. The B2B would be epic.  My kids are happy spending all day on the beach so I’m not too worried about the ports. We did a cabana in Coco Cay and it was so much fun, we could barely get them back on the ship.

  7. We are currently booked for a June 2023 sailing out of Galveston on Allure (local to Houston area, so no flights….YAY!). We have three boys who will be 6, 8, and 10 at the time of sailing. I just booked us for a 9 day Radiance sailing for next March. Lots of attractive things about this sailing- 1) it’s out of Galveston, 2) it’s 9 days, 3) it goes to Coco Cay (which we all love) plus some ports we haven’t been to yet (most Galveston sailings just hit the same ports that we are fairly sick of), 3) it is during our spring break, and  4) the 2BR suite was available. Lots of positives there. My only hesitation is it is such a small ship. Kids have done Harmony and Liberty. With three at sea days, I’m not sure what there is for them to do. The pool is tiny, there’s one very basic water slide, etc.

If you have cruise on Radiance with kids in that age group, how was it?

I thought I would share our experience with RoyalUp just for info purposes. Sailed on Allure October 24th, booked in a 2 BR GS, nice cabin that we have cruised in before, so we were happy with it. At 60 days out we got the RoyalUp email to bid, all the options were suites above ours and all the Star class levels. Because we had 4 people, our options were limited so I bid on a 2 BR Aqua Theater Suite and the Royal Loft Suite.

Thank you for posting! We are in a 2BR GS on Harmony. There are 5 of us so our options are even more limited, but we bid on the 2BR Aquatheater Suite. We sail 11/28 and there are none available. The only cabin above it available is 1 star loft suite. So, we either need a lot of luck or for someone to cancel in order for us to get it. Fingers crossed but I know it's a long shot.

We got the JS upgrade email just now!!  Super excited.  Can anyone tell me what kind of bathroom to expect (shower/tub/# of toilets/etc.)?  The Odyssey has only sparse details about staterooms on the site.  We are in 12638 -  J4 starboard on the bump out.  I'd appreciate any details you might have!

    Woo-hoo!!!

I've been following your "journey." At what point did your modify/cancel option go away? We sail on the 28th and just got the RoyalUp email last Friday.

  10. Visiting Nassau on 12/29, my husband, myself, and our 3 kids. We want to do the Blue Lagoon Deluxe Beach Break. My husband and one of our kids also wants to do the dolphin encounter. I see a separate excursion for the dolphin encounter and beach break. I called RCCL as well as Blue Lagoon and neither could give me a solid answer: Do we need to book both excursions for the two of us that want to do the dolphin thing and be able to stay at the beach all day?

  11. Thanks for asking- we are in the same situation with a 5, 6, and 9 year old. I wanted to do Pearl Island but for whatever reason you have to be 12+ (vaccine related?).

I found this https://www.bahamasbluelagoon.com/beach-day.php and assuming the packages are the same, I'm thinking the inflatables are included. The video on RCCL's website says you can paddleboard or kayak for an additional fee, so I think they would have called it out if the inflatables are extra as well.

If you are sailing on Saturday you could get theirs done on Wednesday.  With PCR I would want to have their 3 full days to get the results…

We sail on Sunday the 28th, fly in Friday the 26th. Ideally I'd get it done on that Thursday before leaving, but that's Thanksgiving and I doubt any testing sites are open.

We are doing the monitored home test.

The stress of us trying to find a testing site especially over Thanksgiving was just too much for me to deal with….

We fly out first thing the morning after Thanksgiving. The kids (under 12 years old) all need PCR tests within 48 hours. I guess we will get them somewhere in Orlando. All of the rapid PCR tests are like $200 each...and we have 3 kids. 😞

  14. We are cruising on 11/28 out of Port Canaveral. Our current itinerary has us flying into MCO on the 27th, getting in around 5pm. Taking a private shuttle to PC, staying at the SpringHill Suites. I'm now considering changing our flights to fly in on the 26th. There will be 5 of us, including 3 boys, ages 5, 6, and 9. Related questions:

    1) If we stick with the current plan, how can we get from the hotel to the port? Taxi? The hotel does not have a shuttle, they use a service called Park Port Canaveral for their park and cruise package, but I can't get in touch with anyone to ask about just purchasing shuttle service.

    2)  If we fly in the 26th, that will give us all of the 27th to explore PC. But, we don't have a car. Is there enough to do to keep us busy?

    3) For the return trip to MCO, I was looking at RC's transfers that include the jetboat excursion. Any feedback on this?

Keeping in mind this is Thanksgiving weekend so I anticipate a lot of crowds. Thanks in advance for any advice!

  15. Ugh. We cruise on Sunday. Without giving you all of the boring details, my MIL just informed me she has a temporary (paper) ID and is awaiting her new DL in the mail. She also has her voided, expired DL. Obviously, no passport, otherwise this wouldn't be an issue.

I'm going to call CCL as soon as I'm off work, but does anyone know if this will be an issue? She has no other gov't photo ID. The temp ID says it is to be used in conjunction with the expired DL. Any thoughts?

  16. I will be following this thread! We are cruising in November with our toddler (he will be 15 months). He is very active so I'm curious to see how your son did on the ship. Also, I'm hoping you will address night time activities (no, not THOSE activities, ha). We love going to the shows but our son goes to sleep by 7:30, so we aren't sure how that will work. Did you eat in the main dining room?
