  1. For the last two years, I have been an avid proponent of masking in crowded places like the supermarket and airport but since everyone must be vaccinated to book and board on a cruise I really am loathe to wear a mask on a tropical cruise. It's such a buzzkill. We are sailing on Splendor and departing one day before the March 1st change. I really hope they apply the no mask needed policy to our cruise. I've been regretting booking this trip ever since I read that everyone is expected to be masked the entire time when not eating or in your cabin. Anyone know if March 1 is across the board the day they lift the mandate, or is it only for cruises departing after March 1?

  2. I have been undergoing chemo treatment for cancer since early november. I have been tolerating it fairly well from a nausea standpoint and taking excellent care of myself and have no other health problems. One of the things that i really love to do is travel and my boyfriend surprised me with a trip on Seadream (my all-time favourite cruise ship) Jan 16-23. The timing is perfect because it falls between two of my treatments (i'm starting on Taxol after 6 weeks on AC for those of you in the know) and I really need to get away from my routine and see the sunshine and look at the ocean.

Here's my worry: is the ocean motion going to be very taxing to me? I don't have much nausea but there is always some on chemo. We took one of the last remaining cabins- it is on Deck 3. Should I ask to be somewhere specific on that deck?

Anyone have familiarity with that route (St-Martin to Barbados) that has good tips for me and "the condition my condition is in" (the Big Lebowski).

This will be my first Seadream cruise stone cold sober (quelle shame) but I am guessing plenty of other people have had a lot of fun on board being dry.

What sort of weather should I expect at that time of year in that region? In the past, I have always opted to eat out in the evenings as much as possible. Is it too chilly to do so in January?

As you can see, I am excited but trepidatious and don't want to repay my kind boyfriend by being a terrible cruiser... especially since he has never been on one!

    Any input welcome!

  3. Worked like a charm on recent sailing on rcl. Not sure what all the fuss was. When we were in Barbados we bought a special bottle of rum at Mt Gay and I didn't hide it upon return to ship and it was in a Mt Gay bag and no problem whatsoever. We only enjoyed one drink a night in our cabin on our verandah and sent well over 500 dollars on wine and other drinks on our cruise so have no guilt about this whatsoever.
