  1. We just booked our first Premier cruise on the Magic in January. We booked it under my husband’s account because he had a $1000 offer and I only had a $50 one. I don’t know why mine is so much lower because I spend almost as much time as him in the casino. Anyways, will I be able to attend the welcome party with him?

  2. Just wanted to thank you for taking the time out from your cruise to post updates. Out of my 17 cruises the Alaska one was my 2nd favorite (nothing can top a first cruise right?). I lived on my balcony and saw so much wildlife go by, including whales. Not to mention all the waterfalls and icebergs, which I became obsessed with photographing. Enjoy your cruise and thanks for the updates.

  3. Has anyone done this through RCCL? We are stopping here in November and the ship is in port from 7:00 am til midnight. The ship excursion says it is a 4 1/2 hour excursion for $89. We would obviously like to spend more time there for that price. Can you stay longer? Any info appreciate. TIA.

  4. We just did the whale watching out of Cape Cod a couple weeks ago, and it was amazing. We saw about 3 dozen whales, and about 2 dozen breaches. Some of the whales came right up to our boat. Truly amazing. I believe the Boston whale watching goes to the same area as we went. We saw several excursions there. Not to be missed.

  5. Do not make any assumptions based on a three night cruise which appeals to a rowdier crowd on any mass market cruise line. Celebrity cruises of MORE than 7 days, and not during holidays or spring breaks, appeal to a more discriminating clientele and rarely have more than a few children.

I know on shorter cruises that rowdier crowds can be expected, and I do expect that. I won't let that bother me, and that is also a benefit of booking a balcony cabin. I usually spend a great deal of time on the balcony. Also the clientele shouldn't effect the food quality or service in the dining room.

  6. There actually is a sign going into the buffet saying shoes and shirt must be worn. I know I've seen it on the fantasy class ships. And so long as cruisers do that, I'm fine with it. During a summer cruise, I wouldn't expect people to shower and change out of their swimgear just to grab a bite in a buffet area that's 10 paces from the pool. And no matter the sign, people need to self govern. And that does not always happen no matter what the rules, where or when.

I agree and I wouldn't expect someone to shower and change, but it would be nice if they could put on a t-shirt or cover up.

  7. Now, dress code in the buffet, the missing table cloth not enough :D So someone's body offends you, correct? Would a small wet guy with a six pack be better, eye candy at three O clock. Oh yeah, but that's beside the point. I read everyone is in bed by, 9 pm on HAL so that make sense.

Actually all half naked bodies offend me in any type of food establishment. Maybe they should post the sign that reads "No shoes, No shirt, No service." Pretty much normal rules of civilized society.

  8. I have cruised on 5 different lines and I have a Legend cruise booked for January, but that will be my last Carnival cruise for a while (if ever again). I wish they would enforce the dress code in the buffet area. I get so sick of seeing people in wet bathing suits with no cover ups and no shoes of any sort on their feet. It is very unappetizing to be standing in line behind a big man in his bathing suit with no shirt and no shoes. I would also like to be able to order the dinner menu for room service like I can on HAL.

  9. I will miss the tablecloths. Personally I do not care that all the upscale land based restaurants have gone this route. I do not expect upscale when I cruise on Carnival. When I cruise, it is more about the fantasy/romance of the seas. A throw back to times gone by.

Also if it is no longer upscale to use tablecloths, then why are they still going to use them on formal nights?
