My friend and I are on the 16-day Antarctica cruise leaving from Santiago on the 19th. Our bid was just accepted. We went from an inside to a standard balcony. So happy! Additional $500 each. Feel like we won the lottery lol. Merry Christmas to us!

Hi, there's a solo cruisers board on here you may find useful. I'm leaving in 3 weeks for a 20-day solo trip on the Star. Check out your roll-call as well. A group of 10 of us solos have already arranged to have dinner the first night.

Thanks everyone! That's good to know :)

I had weight loss surgery last year, so I can only eat small amounts of food. I think ordering two appetizers would suit me (I'm also vegetarian, and I usually prefer the appetizer options to the entrees).
I know I could eat in the buffet (and did on a cruise with my mother last October) but I'm travelling solo on a 20 day cruise next month, and I would prefer to eat some of my meals in the MDR with other people.
Is it weird to just order appetizers?

Thanks to both of you!

If a cruise is a say, 10 nighter, then nothing "repeats"...if you're going on 2 7 nighter, then yes, everything repeats.
It's a single 20-day cruise, Dubai to Venice, not a back to back.

I've been on several 7-day cruises, but this will be my first long cruise (20 days).
Wondering how things work on longer cruises? Do the shows repeat after the first week?
On the Star, are there any good, relatively quiet outdoor spaces with tables (rather than loungers) to sit and read, have lunch, etc., that aren't by the pool? (I do have a balcony; just like to be out and about, too)
Any other insight on longer cruises? Thanks!

My mother and I are on that cruise as well. One thing in our favor is that the ship is supposed to leave on Saturday evening. It seems like the worst in Miami will be Thursday night/Friday morning.
I suspect if we can all get to our cruise ship, then things will go pretty smoothly (though I wonder if we'll still have the Nassau port, or if there will be a change; looks like Bahamas are getting hit fairly hard by Matthew).
The biggest issue will be flights and delays. Both my mother and I planned to get in Friday which buys us more time before the ship leaves (thankfully) but also has us arriving during the worst of the storm in Miami (Friday morning). So that sucks.
Fingers crossed that it all goes smoothly.

Witchgirl, I just started a similar thread about 15 minutes before yours:).
I checked before I posted, and there was nothing on the topic. Yours is actually only 5 minutes before mine :) I was typing on an ipad and was slow. I think we were essentially typing at the same time lol
I'm going to be on the Sun, and both MDRs say reservations are highly recommended.
In the Four Seasons, the times are 5:30 and 8:30.
In the Seven Seas, the times are 5:30, 6:30, 7:30, and 8:30.
I checked a few other days (but not all)...the times available vary.
We sail in 5 days. I'm inclined to not worry about this. If we get there and it seems like having a set time would be better, we'll just make the reservations on board.

I woke up to an email from NCL this morning that we can now make reservations in the main dining rooms. When I log in and go to that page, it says reservations are "highly recommended" for both and there's a drop-down menu to choose your time. You can book now or on board at the restaurant reservations desk.
Is this new?

My friend and I are travelling on the Sun next week. Will we be able to set up separate accounts so that things she charges goes to her, and things I charge to go me, etc?
It's not a big deal if we have to sort it out at the end (we've been doing that so far for the travel plans anyway), just thought I'd ask, as that would make it easier. Thanks!

I was annoyed at first, but once I got it set up, I had my credit the next day.
