  1. Thanks both. He’s 11 and about 5 feet. We were in the Celebrity suite on the Ascent. They didn’t need to do the pull out for him and simply put a mattress on top and it was comfortable!  It was also good to not have to do the full pull out which gives more space in the room.

  2. Hi all… looking at booking next cruise in a Sky Suite. Noticed rooms showing ‘single’ sofa bed and ‘double’. Is there much difference between the two?  It will be for our young son.

We just came off a sailing in the Celebrity Suite and they put a mattress on top of the sofa for our son.

So just wondering if it makes a difference which one we pick for the SS or I should base it on location I prefer.

    Thanks!

I'd have walked up, gotten the name off the tag of the crew member who was 'consulted' and who suggested this insulting behavior, and let the F&B manager know about this long before disembarking.  A bar or restaurant (or cruise line) that is willing to break trust with a guest in this way isn't above doing so in other ways as well.

Name was taken, shared with the manager who promised to address it.  This happened on the last day of the cruise so I never saw the same employee again.

  4. Unfortunately I had this play out in front of me on the Ascent cruise that I just got off.

Asked for champagne and specifically pointed to it on the menu (Haslinger & fils) at the retreat bar on the sundeck.  The person who took my order fully understood, to his credit, he went around to look for it and even went to the back to try and find it.  He couldn't... so he went and consulted the other person and I heard him said just serve me sparkling wine and I won't know.  The original person who took my order clearly was not fully comfortable doing that because I saw him hide under the counter pouring it and tried very hard to not let me see the label.  (Poured me Duc de Valmer... the $5 sparkling wine that they use)  For those who drink champagne even once in a while, you can very clearly see the color difference and also the bubbles are usually different vs. sparkling wine.  I told him I asked for champagne and not sparkling wine and they played dumb  All this right in front of me!

I highlighted this on the post cruise survey but not sure what they are going to do about it.

The other issue here also seems to be Celebrity should just stock the inventory appropriately.  Things like this really ruins all the other good things they do to make a good cruise.

  5. Just finished a sailing in the CS.  Reaching the butler on WhatsApp was easiest (they give you a QR code to scan to add them); he was regularly seen as well.  He wasn't of much help for the most part, I actually found the concierge team in the retreat lounge more helpful.

Unless something has changed since May, room service drinks are not covered by your drink package.

Thanks.. it just got my interest as it mentioned 'complementary' in the menu screenshot but I guess that could simply mean complementary delivery and doesn't mean it's free of charge?  Confusing.  (I don't have bev package as got CS via moveup).

There is a bar in outdoor retreat but you need a liquor package for that , but still nice with swimming pool and you can order light lunch there , love the entertainment on E class . Luminae is closed for lunch on port days but outdoor retreat will be open for light lunch. Indoor retreat is open for drinks from early morning to late evening.

That will work well!  We just like a cocktail and wine here and there… so don’t mind walking to indoor retreat to grab one and bring back out when needed.  Really looking forward… thanks again George.

Absolutely no drink needed for indoor retreat , lots of times I would walk out with two drinks one for me and one for my wife , staff there is always great , what ship?

Awesome!  The Ascent on Jul 13!

In the indoor retreat you can order anything, sometimes above the limit and there is no problem ordering doubles, but in Luminae and outdoor retreat you need the drink package. I have done many suites only on on a charter I had no drink package but I could always order a large glass of wine or a double scotch and carry it from retreat lounge to restaurant.

Thanks so much for this info as well!  I just won by moveup to CS and very excited about it.  Just don’t drink enough to justify a drink package so if this works, then it’s perfect as will just grab a glass or wine or cocktail and bring it to dinner.  I assume it’s not some kind of loophole (such as hoping they wouldn’t ask for the pass to check for package) and one can legitimately freely enjoy the drinks in the lounge.  Sorry for the amateur question.. first time in retreat!

  10. Just a quick question before I put in a MoveUp offer for those who have had success lately.  Am in a Concierge room now (no drinks package.. don’t drink enough to justify).  If I successfully win a bid for a suite, can someone confirm that I can get a drink in the lounge even without a drink package?  I know winning a bid for a suite doesn’t come with drink or wifi packages but does get access to restaurant and lounge (unless that has changed).

Thanks so much.. just wanted to double check before submitting as it’s hard to find anything concrete on Celebrity’s website.
