  1. Candy, especially chocolate is very much appreciated. For us it's a treat that we can have anytime but for many countries it's a luxury. If all they get is a tip it goes to necessary items or gets sent home. I wouldn't take away tip money but as an extra it's very much appreciated. Once in Mexco we gave a grounds keeper a chocolate bar and it was like he'd won a lottery.

  2. We are arriving in Fort Lauderdale at 1135am boarding the Victory on Feb. 27th!:) I was wondering if purchasing FTTF is worth it with that flight time? The main reason we want the FTTF is to get the most out of embarkation day! Any thoughts?! Thank you!

We did this on our last cruise. Just so you know, when you purchase FTTF and put your flight time in the profile it will tell you that you have a conflict with one of your excursions. Anyway, we found FTTF well worth it. Our Carnival shuttle broke down and by the time we arrived at the cruise port it was 1:45 and the line was extremely long. We just walked right through to the front and were on board in no time. Of course our room was all ready, so was everyone else's but not having to wait in the long line and getting our suitcases quickly made it worthwhile.

  3. I totally agree with you. that is why my next cruise is booked on Princess. I have one more cruise there and we are Plats there with them.

Vote with your money if you don't like FTTF.

Getting involved in senseless arguments is silly. The name calling and the Snobbery charges...................Everything that could be said...has been said.

If Carnival Likes it..........keep on doing it

If I don't like it...............go to another cruse line that does not do it.

After the Ruby, My booking for next will be on RCCI...Freedom of the Seas. We are going to explore a little.

I can't agree more. We are not smokers and now that several cruise lines have banned smoking on their balconies Carnival is attracting them. We are booked on another Carnival cruise Jan.12 but that will probably be the last and then we will take our money elsewhere. If you don't like what's going on then make a change.

  4. Just got an email this morning from Chateau Cervantes informing us that they are closed for the month of Jan. because of electrical issues. Thank goodness we made other arrangements when we weren't able to reach them for 2 weeks.

  5. Why should anyone be better than any one else. Some people save for years for a cruise and others cruise several times a year. I still think those with disabilities should get priority and all others should be first come first served. Everyone that has the means to reach platinum status don't really need free perks anyway. Why not sell FTTF and make it a donation to a charity. Okay, let the comments begin.

  6. I totally understand your frustration but considering we can buy the perks at a cost we will. Maybe it's not fair to you but it creates revenue for Carnival. If there are enough Platinum members on board then no FTTF will be offered. Like the previous poster asked, can you honesty say you wouldn't have purchased it prior to earning it given the chance.

  7. Do you smoke or mind the smell of smoke? We decided to try the aft balcony on our last cruise and had smokers on both sides, several rooms down from us and above us. The smell seems to stay at the back but the side balconies get more wind so the smell disappears quicker. We will try the aft again but on a cruise line that doesn't allow smoking on the balcony.

  8. Wow, so many negative comments about the cold, the choppy seas, itinerary, etc.

If I could get off of work during the school year, I would definitely go on this cruise!

Anyone who has ever sailed from NYC knows it's an incredible price.

We pay over $3000. for 3 of us every summer, so this would be a nice break for the bank account.

Too cold? I would rather be cold, standing on the balcony of a cruise ship, sailing out of the harbor than being cold, scraping ice off my car to go to work.

Rough seas? I would sleep like a baby! The more the ship rocks, the more I like it. I always hope for at least one bad weather sea day on our summer cruises.

Not great itinerary? Much better than staying home! And not everyone cruises for the ports anyway. Personally I wouldn't care if the ship went out to sea and just went in circles for 8 days before taking us back.

I do have my favorite ports, but I wouldn't pass this up just because of the ports.

As far as everything being crowded inside and nowhere to sit to eat.....I wonder if that poster went above the buffet to the rotisserie area?

We cruised in June, full ship and it was never busy up there. Plus the chicken and corn on the cob was delicious!

Limoguy, watch for the Quest in the funtimes. It's a late night "show" for adults only. FUNNY doesn't quite cover it! LOL

Yes we did go to the upstairs Rotisserie and it was packed too. We did enjoy sail away, yes it was cold but not -36 like it is here today. I too enjoy the waves and can sleep like a baby with 12 ft. Waves but 20ft. is a different story. When the ship is shaking and sounding like it is breaking apart you can't sleep unless you wear ear plugs. My point is that I would rather spend a bit extra or go at a different time of year and I know now for the future. If I had been aware prior to booking I would have taken a different vacation. Why is it that when someone gives an honest opinion they get blasted. The OP asked for info, if what we experienced doesn't bother them then by all means go. Are we only supposed to post positives on here regardless of our experience?

  9. Our luggage tags have circle with faster to the fun printed on them. The porter will see this and put a more visible tag on the cases. Our boarding pass also has the faster to the fun circle on it. We sail on the 12 th so I just double checked.

  10. Of course its gonna be cold. Yes, there may be rough water.

Sorry you hit bad weather :)

I doubt the weather is terrible every week though on this cruise.

Its a cheap get away....Thats is all.

It was a cheap getaway and that's why we booked it but when all outdoor areas are too windy and cold and the pool is empty it pushes everyone inside. Lack of entertainment, lack of seating for meals and rough seas make for a crowded ship. I'm not saying its always that way but there must be a reason that next season the Splendor won't be going out of NYC after Nov. 1. When you count on a cruise with some warm weather you should go out of Florida or San Juan. If you are okay with staying inside and reading a book you should be fine.

  11. Its an 8 day cruise Departs NYC 1/20 to Florida/Bahamas.

Its a cheap cruise and im wondering about the weather conditions during this time of year. I never sailed in the winter.

I have not booked it just was attracted to the <$400price...

    Any advise is helpful....Thanks:eek:

We cruised out of NYC on Nov.25 and will never do it again. We wore winter jackets to be on the balcony for sail away which we had planned for but the weather didn't really get much better. Our first stop was Port Canaveral and the high that day was 64 degrees. Nassau was cloudy, cool and rainy and Freeport was warm when the sun came out which was about an hour of the day (15 minute intervals). The seas were rough (14 ft. Waves and 19 ft. swells) and

several shows were postponed because it wasn't safe for the entertainers. The outer decks and pools were closed. We will never take a winter cruise use out of NYC again. Start from someplace warmer and pay a bit extra.

  12. Booked the Miracle on March 15th. 4 couples, questions are : How much wine can I bring on, I had 4 bottles in luggage on Princess, and do they have a coffee card like Princess. We Appreciate all answers, we are in ext balcony on Panorama deck, okay ? Thanks, Tim

I think Princess has now gone to the one bottle per person limit as well. Carnival has the cheers package, I think it's $44.95 plus tax per person per day. This fee covers pop and some non- alcohol moctails as well as alcohol drinks. One difference is that Princess is balcony smoke free and Carnival still allows smoking. We have never been on the Miracle but loved the Panorama deck on the Liberty (not sure how they compare). We have travelled several cruise lines and find Carnival to be the best for the buck. Princess let us down, still might try them again in the future though.

  13. Just found out that both ports, Belize & Grand Cayman use "Tenders". Not too comfortable with this. How quick is it before you can get off? Is it worth getting off the ship?

We've been on the Liberty before but this is our first Western Caribbean sailing.

If it is available it would be worth it to buy FTTF.
