  1. We are on the 11-16-19 Horizon Cruise and have decided to use the POM parking garage close to the terminal and just walk across to the terminal. The cost is $22 per night, but will be worth it to not have to depend on the timeliness of  shuttle buses. I just learned today that they do not take advanced reservations for the parking garage, so my question is to those that have used this venue to park. Is there ample parking in the garage or will we have to get there early to secure a spot to park in the garage? I know that we need to allow time for the parking garage to empty as people disembark from the prior cruise, but how long should we wait or what is the best time to arrive? Any help would be helpful. Thank you all.

The AT&T cruise package is $50 for talk and text a month. $100 adds some data, but not much. If you buy the wi-fi package you can text on IM or whatsapp

Yes, these are the packages we were looking at. Appreciate the information. Thank you.

I have AT&T and the flat fee International day pass (if that is what you are talking about) only works in Ports, not with Cellular at Sea.  They (AT&T) also have a cruise ship package for some crazy price that I was not willing to pay!

What I do is get the Social wifi package, put my phone in Airplane Mode and connect to the ships wifi.  On that I can use iMessage, Viber, or Facebook Messenger to connect with home while on the ship.  It is MUCH cheaper than any package I have found with AT&T.

Thanks so much for this information. Very helpful.

  4. We will be on Vista in March and would like to be able to text back home to check on Family. We have AT&T service and as I understand it, there is a program that AT&T offers for unlimited texting and limited data minutes for phone use, all for a flat fee. Will we still need to purchase a Wi-Fi package from Carnival to be able to use our phone to text or receive texts from home if we have this AT&T package? I am curious as to what other AT&T users do to have texting availability from Ship/Port to home? Any help would be appreciated.

  5. I order bottles for my room all the time and carry drinks around with me that I have made in my room. No one has ever asked what's in my drinking glass. I also take a flask with me in my pocket to "freshen" up my drink from time to time after I add some ice to it. I usually drink scotch on the rocks. I have even taken red solo cups with me and walked around with those. You will be just fine and will save money as well. Enjoy your cruise.

  6. We are on the Vista March 3rd cruise and we are driving in from Austin the night before and staying at Hilton Garden Inn in Webster, 30 miles from Galveston, and will just drive in the next morning. We cruised in March before and it was in the high 60s. It was also raining but did not delay anything.  Good luck and happy cruising.

  7. Everyone who pre-orders bottles for their cabins do this all the time, at least the majority do. I usually do not carry a flask, but I do pre-mix a drink (Scotch on the rocks) in one of the glasses from the room and carry it with me all over the ship. One time I brought red solo cups and carried that around with me and saved the glasses in the room to drink on the balcony. Full disclosure, you are supposed to drink the liquor in your cabin, but honestly do not know of anyone that does that. I may bring a flask with me on my next cruise just to save me some steps back to the cabin.

  8. Galveston Park N Cruise is now taking reservations for our March 3, 2019 Vista Cruise. Just opened today and we have booked it online. We have always used them. Indoor secured parking $87 plus tax and service fee for seven days. We just take out our luggage and walk across the street to terminal. Very easy and convenient. They also have secured outdoor parking that is fenced in for $67 plus tax and service fee for seven days.

  9. We have recently booked Carnival Vista for a March 3, 2019 cruise and wanted to at least look at some of the excursions offered, but there are no excursions listed and it says still working on scheduling excursions for this cruise. I have booked this far in advance before on previous cruises with Carnival and have always had the opportunity to book excursions this early. Is it because Vista is being relocated to Galveston during this time? Not sure why that would make a difference but maybe someone has some insight?

    Thanks for any help.

  10. So, what is the better option? i wanted to order the choc cake as a surprise for the DD's graduation. Should i just go to cherry on top and order it once on the ship?

That wouldn't be a bad idea. My problem was that I was not on the cruise so I couldn't follow up when the day came that the cake was to be delivered. At least you would have some control. Room service may even deliver a whole cake. Not sure. Good luck. Full disclosure, I always use fun shops to order my booze, toys for my grandsons when they travel with us and water, and have never had an issue.

  11. Anyone have experience with merchandise not delivered by the Funshops? We ordered an item to be delivered to our room that never arrived. We asked several times at guest services and were told it's coming, it's delayed etc. Finally on the evening of the second night I told them keep it, give us a refund to which they agreed. There was no refund. I've called twice since we returned and been assured both times it's coming but still nothing. Has anyone else had this happen? Is this the company MO to just screw around and hope you get tired and walk away? I finally called my credit card company to reverse the charge but it seems like a poor way to deal with things.

My experience was similar. I ordered a cake for a friend of mine that was cruising right after she lost her husband. They used to cruise as a couple for years. Anyway her cruise was February 25th for a week and her Birthday was on the 28th which is when I requested the cake delivered. It wasn't until about a week later after she returned that I learned she never received it.

I initially emailed Guest Services with the complaint. I received an automated response that they would have someone contact me within seven days. They did not so I called Guest Services and sure enough it was not delivered. Apparently when I placed the order on line I was to have provided a Booking Number, but it never required me to do so when ordering on line. It only asked me for her name, what ship, and the sail date and they apparently matched it with her sailing. Very misleading, but they sure completed the sale and charged my credit card without any issues.

I did not hear from them for 10 days. I called again and was encouraged that they at least had on file where I had emailed and my previous call, but they said it usually takes 10-15 days for it to show up and that I should not include weekend days as part of that time frame. Miraculously the credit showed up the next day. I am sure someone just dropped the ball on the credit just like they dropped the ball on delivering the cake. My point to this is stay on top of them and keep calling. The amount of the cake was insignificant, but the idea that this probably happens to a lot of people like me that wouldn't have known, if I did not ask my friend, that they did not get what I ordered, really bothers me. It took me 2 months to get a credit on my credit card. It is the principle of the matter.

  12. I purchased two bottles of liquor (the limit is 2 per cabin) along with waters and mixers and FTTF and all were showing yesterday under "MY BILLING", but just checked today and the only thing showing under "MY BILLING" is the FTTF and nothing else. I agree that this new feature was a great "value added" idea and I am sure it is a site glitch and hopefully it will return. I recommend taking your receipts for all your purchases with you, just in case. Happy Cruising!

So this is interesting. I checked earlier today and my purchases were still not there even though they were two days ago. I was logged on to my Carnival Account with FireFox. When I logged on to my Carnival account with Internet Explorer, all of my purchases are showing up. Makes me feel better. If you don't see your purchases try another search engine, it might work.

  14. Do the canned drinks need to fit INSIDE my carry on luggage or can they be carried separately?

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

We always carry our cans on with one a small luggage dolly that folds up. We stack them, secure with a bungie cord and is very easy to roll around with one hand. We do not drink sodas, but we do bring Bloody Mary mix in cans and Tonic Water to mix with our pre-ordered bottles of gin and vodka that will be waiting in our cabin.

  15. I have heard people say be sure to bring a gift for your room Steward to present to them when you arrive, because they make very little money and work so hard, and have so little, or to guarantee great service... I have heard suggestions of Int'l phone cards, candy bars, snacks, gift representing your home state, etc... and others say they don't want your stuff they have all the food and snacks they want and phone cards... Just give them CASH. What do you all think? WHat do you do? I will be on Carnival Sensation and I plan to tip but this is in addition to the tips.

I went on a cruise with my Sister last year and she had already pre-made one dollar bills in heart shapes that had like a little flower design right in the middle of the heart. I bet she had at least $100 of one dollar bills that she passed out as tips. The crew was so amazed and appreciated them so much. One crew member even told my Sister that she had heard from other crew members that there was a lady giving out "money hearts". It seemed to be a big hit. We even did some $20 money hearts for our wait staff and they wanted to learn how to make them, so we showed them. Just a thought.

  16. When we were on the Magic in 2013, I thought I remembered that you could bring your own CDGs (these are the discs used for karaoke that have the words displayed on songs with the music) to the DJ and he would play your song selection off of the CGG you provided. Does anyone know if the DJ will do this or do they use a live band for music? We will be back on Magic in November with a large group and this would be fun to bring a number of CDGs for all our group to choose from. The selection of songs that I have seen on other ships are very limited at best. Any help would be appreciated.

  17. I have the app downloaded on my iPhone 6S, but when and where do you pay the $5 fee to be able to chat with your cabinmate? I understand that the cabinmate has to have the app and pay the fee as well, just didn't know if you could pay for it online before the cruise or do you have to wait til you are on board?

Every thing I've read tells me that once on board you sign in with your folio number, so is that when you purchase the $5 fee and it automatically goes on your account? Any advise would be welcome.
