  1. Hi all,

Although a seasoned cruiser, I am new to Disney. That's what 2 kids will do for you:). Well my husband has just told me that he has booked us on Disney Wonder next Easter as part of our 40th birthday celebratory trip to the States.

My husband is very into his wine and will bring his own to drink on board. However I am keen to see a wine list (does anyone have one?) as it might dissuade him in the volume he brings.

Also do you know if you can pay corkage and drink your own wine in the main dining room? I can't see any reference to this on the website but it is possible to pay corkage and drink your own wine with dinner?

Thanks for your help in advance...

  2. Welcome to the world of parenthood! we are off on Azura IN the summer hols in 3 weeks time and guess what? we are paying full select price adult fare for out 2 children - who are 5 and 2. But I want to go on a cruise so I suck it up and pay the price.

On the 'children are the bane of the earth' concept - I too find that certain older adults are ruder, expect the impossible and generally make my holiday more difficult - I have never had this problem with the loudest teenager - they might make noise but they don't interact with you unless you do with them so are a minimal issue.
  3. It once happened to us on Princess tho'.... because the cabin we were supposed to be in had a problem - (I later learned from another member of staff there was faeces on the carpet that they couldn't replace in time- nice I know) but it wasn't a special upgrade - one mini suite to another more mid ship mini suite... but 'technically' it was an upgrade... I did try for more but they told me that that was the best they could do as the ship was full...

  4. My husband and I are on the Azura 31st of August we are taking our children and our three ana half year old grandson

Are there tips from anyone regarding the children's club?

NO tips - it's great... they will keep them for you or you can go there with them if they are a bit nervous. the programmes are very full and varied... I can't fault it. The one thing they don't do is feed your child (apart from the chocolate party that is) and so you have to take them to meals... but they are open all the time from about 9 am and the night nursery closes later than we ever stay up (I want to say 2am but I've never been up that late so I can't confirm this...)

  5. I went on a princess cruise where my son was the only child on board - he was the most honoured passenger and got more attention from staff that anyone else - and we had other pax stopping to chat to him all day - he was tiny tho so 'cute' probably played its part esp when he took his first steps with an audienc of about 25 seniors (amazing round of applause) i wouldn't hesitate!

  6. As an inhabitant of the UK, the only thing you can rely on the British weather is that you can't rely on the British weather - make sure you bring something warm and something waterproof for everyone!

BUT you can buy soap, shampoo etc etc etc in the UK and france very easily so don't carry lots of these.... and every hotel I've stayed in in the UK / france supply wash cloths but they are also for sale in supermarkets so I wouldn't bother packing those

  7. I'm a doctor - wash my hands A LOT at work and as little as possible (ie after toilet) at home but don't use hand sanitizer I believe that it's usual incorrect use makes the issue worse. I v rarely get sick but ironically I had Noro this week

The avoidance of germs whilst preventing some short term illnesses can be part of the causative process of allergies/ auto immune processes.., I'd rather have the odd episode of d and v than a life long illness.

I grew up on a farm so dirt butties were part of the diet - I reckon I've got a pretty good immune system!

  8. I have the same view of tipping on boats as I do on land - if they ask for a tip / service charge then that's what they get - unless they really don't deserve it and I actively take it off. If they don't ask I give proportionate to the service they provide - but always I will leave a tip ( the night of the 1p tip springs to mind as does the night of the 20 pound tip for a 17 pound meal. I don't like being told to tip but always do if not asked - I guess I'm an awkward Brit thru and thru...

  9. Well, that really is rotten luck.

    Hope you fell better soon.

Try not to spread it around.

Don't worry I've been confined to cabin and hubby has painted a black x on the door and bolted it shut... He pushes a pint glass of water thru a hatch every 4 hours...
