  1. The land tour was unescorted - we were not informed of this when we booked it with RCCL future cruises desk. Each day that we had a tour it was with a commercial company that RCCL had contracted with. Our group of 16 was picked up early from the hotel and then we made up to 9 stops at various hotels to pick up people. At the end of the tour we were on the bus at least an extra hour as people were dropped off before we got to our hotel.

When we came to a new city and got to the hotel we had to claim our luggage from the bus, carry it into the hotel, stand in the check-in line. That's what an unescorted tour is. Little did we know.

We wish RCCL had informed us of this.

Their original papers said we would have a morning tour of Vancouver. When we arrived in Vancouver and were given the tour papers it did not include this morning tour - it was free time.

We booked a tour in Vancouver through the hotel concierge at $80 per person and RCCL HAS REFUSED TO REIMBURSE US FOR THIS - even after we and our travel agent wrote letters to RCCL customer service.clear.png?emoji-smile-1684

  2. Explorer of the Seas September, 2017, Pacific Coastal cruise tour. We are so disappointed with RCCL. We took this cruise tour in September, cruise was fine, tour was awful. It was Canadian Rockies tour. We booked while on a previous RCCL cruise. We were never informed that the tour would be unescorted. Additionally the papers we received when we booked the cruisetour said we would have a City tour of Vancouver. Well when we got to Seattle dock to go to Vancouver we were given papers that did not include the Vancouver city tour. We booked one on our own, $80 each, and submitted a request to RCCL for reimbursement. They refuse to reimburse us. How cheap can they be.

Beware, because the unescorted tour was awful.

  3. Rhoda,

Looking on their website I´d say it´s not a river cruise line but sort of a tour operator. They do offer river cruises on various ships of various cruise lines (AmaWaterways, Avalon, Viking...).

The MS Fontane actually is the MS Theodor Fontane owned and operated by Viking River Cruises as MS Viking Fontane.

    steamboats

thank you very much for your info.

  4. I bought mine on Amazon. Look up snorkeling vest. Mine was by 101 Snorkel, I liked it because they have some that are pretty also instead of the plain yellow or orange. Mine looks like water, they also have hawaiian{sp} flower print.:D

Thanks for all the info...just ordered our vests from 101snorkel

  5. Some tours we took had the traditional life vests which are bulky. I bought an inflatable vest on Amazon. I used it frequently (packed it along with my water shoes etc..)helped me conserve energy but of course, cannot submerge. It is also great for the novice snorkeler or someone who is not a strong swimmer.

There are many inflatable vests on Amazon...would anyone recommend one brand?

    Thanks

  6. I had no problems with seeing what I was shooting. It has a pretty large display for a camera its size. You could even hear the "beep" when you took the picture.

I bought a floating wrist strap to go with it which made it easy to hold on to..

Thanks- we are leaning toward the Nikon AW120. I appreciate your info.

  7. We did Celebrity Eclipse TA Fort Lauderdale to Southampton in April, our first TA and it was very enjoyable. Coming up in December- Oceania Nautica South Africa then in

May 2015 Royal Caribbean Rhapsody of Seas - Singapore to Dubai and Dubai to Istanbul

We are a couple - older lesbians - who love cruise vacations - from Gulfport, Florida.

  8. Considering a cruise that hits Bali. Choices based on current offerings are few.......HAl for 14 days or Seabourn for 10.

If I start saving now I can go Seabourn.

Saw Bali on the amazing race and it got me thinking.

Celebrity does cruises in and out of Singapore with days in Bali (overnights) - my partner and I did this last year and it was great. We also did an 8 day land trip to Bali through

    Singapore Airlines which was great.

  9. It seems that all you gals and guys cruise Carnival and Princess for the most part.

We are going on December 12,2013 for a relaxing 4 night on Royal/Brilliance of the Seas. Come join or join us April 20,2014 for a TA from Fort Lauderdale to Civitevechia Rome with 6 pots for a total of 16 days.

    Dale🌈🌹🌞

We sail Celebrity and Royal alot and have met many gay people - however it seems that the guys come to the LGBT gatherings more than the women.

We leave in 3 weeks on Celebrity Eclipse TA Fort Lauderdale to Southampton,

Feb. 14, 2015 Vision of Seas out of Tampa 7 day Caribbean

May 2015 Rhapsody of Seas Singapore - Dubai - Istanbul

Was on Oasis of Seas in March but only 4 guys came to the LGBT gathering

  10. I just found this forum - are there cruise lines that have stops that would allow me to take a day if two for a short safari. At this point I do not care about time of year.

    Thanx

Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

Oceania Nautica - December 2014 - Capetown roundtrip - does stops in South Africa

Oceania has other cruises with stops in Africa

  11. We will be in London for 2 days in May - a weekend - our first time there.

Should we take a tour the first day or should we buy hop-on, hop-off bus tickets? Should we buy tickets for the Tower of London before we leave and if so what site is good for that? Many thanks for answers. Rhoda:rolleyes:
