  1. I am in my thirties and I have sailed on Celebrity and on Royal Caribbean through my twenties and thirties. I found Celebrity is a bit "old". It's a different demographic, passengers who have different expectations and different attitudes. I do go on Celebrity if the itinerary and price is right, however my first choice is always Royal Caribbean. I like that Royal Caribbean is more casual (for example: not as much judging of others' clothes... more contemporary food choices in the main dining room... less expectation of being waited on hand and foot) and there are more active things to do. For example Royal Caribbean might have a rock climbing wall, mini golf, etc. On Celebrity on sea days... there are some talks I enjoy but I feel like it's missing some active things to do.

I'd consider Princess too, it just hasn't worked out in terms of itinerary and price. Carnival might be a good option too, for me personally I don't think it's as much of a good fit but lots of people love it. Maybe if you tell us what you imagine your cruise to look like (pampered? active? party?) it could help with suggestions.

I think the itinerary can affect who's in the crowd, too. For example Caribbean vs Europe.

  2. Hi,

I have booked the package at the Polynesian Cultural Center that includes the circle island tour in the morning http://www.polynesia.com/circle-island-tour.html#.VaeUAflVhBc. The first stop is Diamond head. I really want to climb up Diamond Head to take in the view, but I think the hike is probably not included in the tour - that's okay, I can do it another day. Can anyone who has been on the PCC island circle tour confirm that and tell me if my plan to do the hike another day makes sense?

    Thanks!

  3. Hi everyone,

I have a late flight leaving from Honolulu on our last day there (8pm). My plan is to visit Pearl Harbour. I was thinking of doing the following:

1-Take Speedi shuttle from hotel in Waikiki to airport

    2-Leave luggage at airport (http://www.alohaairportdeliveryandstorage.com)

3- Bus 20 for Pearl Harbour

    4-Visit Pearl Harbour

5-But 20 back to the airport, retrieve luggage.

On the airport website I saw this:

"Due to enhanced airport security requirements, baggage storage and locker facilities at the Honolulu International Airport are not available. Aloha Airport Delivery maintains 4 vehicles onsite with a 5 minute response time. Baggage pick up and return anywhere on airport property and charge $20.00 for up to 4 bags for the first day and a reduced fee for multiple days. Personnel are available onsite at the airport 7 days a week between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM. Storage is prepaid and 24 hour pick up and delivery upon approved reservations. Their phone number is (808) 372-5411. They can also be contacted via their website loacted at www.alohaairportdeliveryandstorage.com"

Has anyone used this luggage service? Any feedback on my plan, overall?

    Thanks.

  4. Our only bill is usually a very small amount of Internet minutes (just enough to copy paste a message to our family every couple of days and scan for red flag messages). We do spend on shore though (excursions mostly).

When we pass by the casino and bars, we often joke "look at all these people who are paying for our cruise" :) . To each his own, for us, all the extras are not that appealing and I'd rather splurge on excursions our cruise more often than pay for extras on board.
