  1. I don't know about the Sunshine, but we were in a room directly under the gym on the Conquest and had no problems at all. There was a sound we heard, but it was quite and only heard it if someone was on the treadmill. It took several days before we figured out the sound. I just thought it was a noise from the ships engines. Not at all bothersome.

  2. I had the filet Mignon and it was very good. I did not like the appetizer or the desert in the Steakhouse and neither did my Mother and she had different things than I did. We also did not like the free wine. We like sweet, fruity wines and it was a very dry wine to our tastes.

Do yourself a favor and take a sweater or coat with you. It was freezing in there the night we were there, which also did nothing for our like of the dinner. Could not get out of there fast enough to warm up!

Mom says that the cheesecake was more of a pudding or custard consistency instead of a good cheesecake. She didn't like it!

  3. We were on this cruise too and enjoyed it immensely! We had the Your Time Dining which was in Renoir Deck 3. Can't complain about anything for the cruise itself. We didn't like a few of the islands, but it wasn't the cruise lines fault. Mostly it was the tours we took from off-site vendors that was the issue!

  4. I have also found with Poo-Pouri that you can put it in the toilet after you use it even if you don't know that the offender is needing the bathroom right away. It will work fine even if it sits there ahead of time.

I tried it this past weekend. We have a friend who has an aversion to using air freshner. I would spray the toilet after I used it and it was all set for the next one who came in. It worked great!

  5. I have to comment (because I am kind of partial) as to how smart and wonderful Poodles are.

My service dog is a apricot Miniature Poodle. She is so smart that she started alerting to my tremors before they come on on her own. That is why she became my service dog. I got her from a rescue just to be a pet, and she had something more in mind. She learns everything very quick, but she can also outwit me sometimes if I am not careful.

Ellie is my third poodle I have had the pleasure of having in my family, and she is one of two that we have currently, (we actually have 3 dogs right now. Our third one is a Shih Tzhu mix). She is the smartest of them all and if she gets bored, causes the most trouble.

If we met up with any of you with the bigger dogs, she would have to give them all a hug. She loves big, quiet dogs and wants to play immediately.

I will have to figure out how to post a picture of her on here.

I enjoy reading about everyone and your fur-babies.

    Happy New Year everyone!

  6. A rollalator ( a rolling walker that has a seat) is what I suggest if you don't go with a wheelchair or scooter.

I have been dealing with chronic pain for the last 8 years and have found a wheelchair or scooter allows me the best opportunity to do more with less pain and the fatigue that seems to go hand in hand with one another. Without them I could not walk very far. If what is holding you back from using one is the possible stigma that some attach to them, think of them as a tool, like a pair of glasses or hearing aid. Without the glasses, you couldn't see very well or without the hearing aid, you couldn't hear very well. Without a wheelchair or scooter, you can't enjoy your trip very well and couldn't do as much. Do what you need to to take care of you.

  7. Lots of people also say that if you have a small dog, it can't be a service dog because of its size. What most people think of when you say service dog is golden retrievers and black labs, not little ones. I get that with my miniature poodle. They think that she is just a pet, even with her vest on. She is in fact a seizure alert dog, and is a fine size for what she is trained to do.

  8. I think what has happened in the past was very wrong to be done to anyone for any reason. In fact the pool incident if the people were so offended by her being there, they should have left not her. They were the ones who were wrong!

Maybe this will be the one time that nothing but good things come about! She won't know unless she tries!

I am not saying this as one who doesn't understand. I am not an amputee, but I do wear braces on my legs from hip to toe and have faced some of those looks. I choose to just smile and go on my way. If it is a child who asks about them, I just explain that my legs don't work as well as theirs and they are happy. If an adult asks (depending on how they ask) I might go into more detail, but that is my choice.

Please don't let the fears and inconsideration of others keep you from doing what you want! You are the only one who will suffer by letting them win!

  9. I am curious as to how all of you would handle this situation. I was at Target the other day with Ellie and I had a lady a register over make a snide remark about how she should get one of those vests for her dog, since you can just by one on E-bay.

I know many question Ellie being a service dog since she is so small (7lb miniature Poodle), but she was behaving herself and doing what she would be doing. She was even on the floor and not in my arms. I don't know what deserved that comment from her. I ignored her, but I wanted to tell her to go ahead if she thought she could afford the $2000 fine and jail time. What would all of you have done?

  10. I travel in a wheelchair or scooter all the time. It is not that bad, but it can be trying on the patience at times.

I recommend that you don't rely on the website for whether or not there are handicapped rooms available. You need to call Celebrities special needs department and ask for them to check and make sure that all who are booked in a handicapped room actually needs it if there is not one available right now. The special needs department has the information you would need.

Being that it is a new injury, you might want to look at a wheelchair that has leg rests that can be raised to help with reducing swelling. Even 8 years after my last surgery, and I can still have swelling that just increases pain.

Just some things to keep in mind, but just because he might need a wheelchair it is no reason to cancel your trip.

Be aware of any shore excursions you planned. They may not be doable depending on how he recovers and not all places are handicapped friendly.

  11. I have a manual wheelchair that weighs only about 25lbs with the wheels on. It is a TiLite ZRA series 2. I have a rigid model, but there are ones that fold and allows the rear wheels to come off just like on mine. This chair according to my 72 year old mom, pushes easily with my 200+ lb butt in it.

  12. An idea of a way to put it to her that she might be accepting of is this; if she could not see clearly or hear well, what would she do? She would get a tool in the form of glasses or hearing aids. A scooter is just a tool to help her be able to do more and be more comfortable doing it! If she looks at it like that, then she might change her mind.

Many people have this issue of thinking that once they start using wheelchairs and scooters, that they are in them the rest of their lives. Doesn't have to be that way. I use a scooter and when I feel like I want to walk some, someone else rides the scooter for a while. I have needed one for the last 8 years and I am only 47. Try using the idea too, that you will ride it if she feels like walking, but it will be there when she is ready for a rest.

  13. I am a younger person dealing with a disability, but I do not let it stop me from traveling. Most of my travels are to Disney World, just me and my 72 year old Mother. We do whatever we can and don't let anything bother us if we can't do everything.

I am 47 and after several surgeries over 20 years from a car accident, I now need to wear braces from hip to toe on both legs and use a scooter or wheelchair when there is lots of walking involved.

We have a cruise planned for January and have previously cruised once before. First cruise I took my scooter. This time I will be bringing my wheelchair. We have taken many trips to Disney World, Savannah Georgia, North Carolina in the last 7 years when my last surgery turned my life upside down.

I say if you have the want to do a trip, then do it! Don't let your health issues stop you even if it is more difficult than before. If you really want to do something you will find a way to get over the obstacles that are in your way!
