We’re currently on the Silhouette and have had the worst experience of all the cruises we’ve been on. Yesterday, while getting ready for dinner, my husband was in the bathroom when he heard the toilet making a terrible rumbling sound. He looked to see what was happening, you know how small the bathrooms are? When he did his face and shirt got sprayed with black sewage.it was literally everywhere.

Black sewage/chemicals/feces was all over the bathroom and him. He’s trying to wash it out of his eyes/face, I call and they say they’re having a sewage problem, which doesn’t help me. I open the door and find our attendant. He says there’s been a line break. Another lady shows up and I tell her what happened, panicking. I tell them he needs an eye wash etc because there’s obviously bacteria and disease. All the time their acting like it’s no big deal.

I called home and talked to someone what to do. They said to have them do an eye wash, give oral antibiotics and go to his dr when he gets back. We go to the medical center, he’s panicking, they hook him up to oxygen and do the eye wash. The put little plastic suction like cups on your eyes and wash them with a bag of solution.

Long story semi short, it was handled terrible. I was promised a medical report from a dr this morning. They called and said it will be today or tomorrow. I went to guest relations, and spoke with Abraham, There were several people there complaining because their toilets had been not working since 2pm. He talked to me like I was just some dumb woman and ended up walking off from me. There was another lady listening and she tried to help me and he walked off from her too. And the worst part, not one person told my husband they were sorry this happened.

I’m not asking for compensation, and it surely wasn’t offered, I just want the documentation of what happened so I can take it to his dr when we get home because he’ll need it for future blood work etc when we get home to make sure he didn’t contract something.

Do not go on this ship. If something happened they don’t care.

This happened to us years ago on a different Celebrity ship.  Although we didn’t get compensation, they moved us immediately to another cabin and were very apologetic.  Thank goodness we never got sick.  So sorry to hear it was spewed in your husbands face and eyes.  I hope problems are settled by May as we are going on her.

  2. Unfortunately, I booked with a large well known and popular travel company that gave me a terrific rate, had the class category available in their block of rooms, and lots of perks.  This was the first of two bookings that we made with them because Celebrity said they did not have Aqua available.  This company doesn’t take customer service calls.  It all works by email and takes 3-5 days for a response and lots of run around.  We learned our lesson.  On a separate note, I finally got a call back from a supervisor that said it does take over 2 hours lately.  Those customers that not only get through easily and get their issue resolved in one call, are LUCKY.

  3. I have thick hair and wondered what type or more importantly what is the power level the included dryers Celebrity has on the Eclipse.  I hate to bring my own because of luggage space but if the dryers are the old, attach to a walk or drawer, I will have to bring a stronger dryer.  Any information would be appreciated.

We love Blu for breakfast, but neither of us are impressed with the dinners. Prefer the MDR

Did you realize that you can view the MDR menu in Blu and choose which entrees you want between the two yet still get the intimate experience of BLU.

Thanks. It's the Eclipse. LCG is the only specialty we like, so if we downgraded to balcony, we would just stick w/MDR. It's only a 7-night cruise, so not a big deal. I think we're going to stick with aqua for now & would only downgrade if the price differential becomes too great to pass up.

Do you frequently travel in AQ?

Please, don't let some of these comments inform your opinion and prompt action on your last statement. AQ is one of my favorite stateroom categories onboard ship and I've continued to sail through loss of AQ amenities simply because of BLU. Not only have we sat next to complete strangers who later became such good friends that we've booked cruises together, but also sat next to complete strangers who remained strangers. It all depends upon the mood of the next table and, also admittedly, our mood that evening.

We've had birthday celebrations and anniversary celebrations in BLU. Some we wanted to mingle with others; some we wanted some more quiet time. There are alcoves within BLU that are, decidedly, private spaces, especially in the back area away from the windows. We've been seated at a table that we fondly nicknamed "no man's land" because it was too far away from other tables to engage in conversation. That table right next to the column? Practically in the middle of the restaurant on the M-class ships?

Anyway, I find BLU to be absolutely superb. I had my own trepidation before my first BLU experience. My advice is to simply go... see for yourself... make an informed decision. What do the philosophers say? Know Thyself. If you're a social person who enjoys conversation, it's a brilliant place to be. If you're a more reserved person who likes the exclusivity of a 2-top... in my opinion, they can accommodate you in BLU. It's a matter of asking for what you want and evaluating if you received.

Well said.  My husband and I totally agree!

  6. I am not good at attaching responses to the post but let me say again, thank you. I enjoyed reading your tips on the itinerary and special events for Black card holders. I think we might will book one of our specialty dinners that night. We are part of a large group that will be eating at the first seating so any and all tips on which nights might be best to break away were welcome. Which if the two specialty restaurants you visited was the best?

I think I remember hearing it would be good to book a cirque de soleil evening. Is that offered on the Divinia?

  7. I really enjoyed seeing all of the daily newspapers. Thank you

If you had to choose two nights that you would eat in a specialty restaurant, would you have a preference as to which nights the meals were not quite as good in the MDR? We have two free nights in the specialty dining area and I saw that on the second formal night it seemed like the food was upgraded a bit. Did you get the impression that on formal nights the MDR menu choices seemed better?
