You won’t be turned away unless you show up before the terminal is open.
We have done 5 cruises from FLL and arrived at 10:50 -11:15 always got into the terminal.  Last summer we showed up at 11 and got into the terminal with what must have been every Suite guest crammed shoulder to shoulder waiting for the group upstairs to be checked in then groups of 10 (elevator capacity) were sent up.  4 out of 5 times easy and fast the other time not so much.  But Cruise was great.

Wow! Good info as well. Thanks!

    Trying to figure out the timing of this;

I have a cruise that leaves Sunday; I am vaccinated and boosted, and understand that I can test as early as Thursday.

My kids are young; they are vaccinated- there is no booster for them. It was my understanding that they could also test on Thursday as they are "up to date", but when I called Carnival, they said they can't test until Friday, which doesn't seem correct?

What is considered "up to date" relative to COVID vaccines?

Up to date means a person has received all recommended COVID-19 vaccinations, including any booster dose, when eligible. If a guest is fully vaccinated and not yet eligible for a booster, the guest is also considered up to date and may take their pre-cruise COVID test as early as three days before the cruise

We had that, but it would not approve a test with a date outside of the three days.  You're not able to actually enter it.  If I remember correctly, when you go to enter the date, it gives you a drop down menu with the earliest date being the one three days out.  Does that make sense?

    Ahh. Ok. That makes sense.

    Thank you!

  4. Noticed that VeriFLY says I can submit my covid test results even earlier then "3 days before you cruise if up to date" that Carnival's website states. I have an upcoming Saturday cruise, but the app says I can submit test results the Tuesday before starting at 5pm.

    Anybody else see something similar?

What Carnival told you doesnt match what it shows on its page: https://www.carnival.com/legal/covid-19-legal-notices/covid-19-guest-protocols

TLDR: iHealth proctored test worked fine and was accepted by Verifly

I just had my daughter (11-years old) do the proctored iHealth rapid antigen self-test, the orange box ones we got from the government. Since I already had the unopened test, I only had to buy the testing service. It is $24.99. I selected an online appointment time. They send you a link to click on to start the meeting. They verified my daughter's photo ID with her passport. They tell you exactly what to do. Then the camera has to stay aimed at the test for 15 minutes. When the timer is up, they instruct you to hold the test up to the camera. They confirm the results (negative) and immediately send an email. They confirm that you got the email before they disconnect. I uploaded the results to Verifly, they were accepted! My daughter is "ready to sail" according to Verifly.

Here's the link to the service: https://ihealthlabs.com/products/ihealth-verified-covid-test-service

Never used Verifly before. Does the fact that the app accepted the iHealth proctored test results mean that Carnival also accepts it? Or just that "something" was uploaded?

Has anyone actually been able to board a ship using the iHealth proctored results? Would be painful if the app says "accepted" then the person checking us in at embarkation reviews and says that test result is not acceptable or something.

That's interesting. Was is on a separate insert attached to the menu? Also, did it state that it wasn't included or were you told by the staff?

When I was on the Spirit last month details of the T-Bone were attached as an extra to the menu in Cagneys, Le Bistro and the Italian. There was no suggestion that it wasn't included and I ordered it in Cagneys using the SDP.

It was attached to the inside of the menu. The waiters at both restaurants told us it wasnt included under the SDP. I dont remember if it stated that on the attachment.

The post I responded to also quoted the $35 entree limit, which is a specific latitudes restriction. That's why I stated that they seemed to be confusing it with that deal.

As for what people are told by the wait staff, we go through the same thing with every one of the hundreds of discussions on here. People are told a wide variety of incorrect things by the waitstaff when it comes to restrictions when using the SDP. If they choose to ignore what they are told and just order multiples they are (with a couple of reported exceptions) charged nothing extra.

It is very clear that, at least in the past - these things can change - that there is no actual limit of courses other than entrees, as is backed up by the T&C's. However, for some reason that I can't understand, people seem to give more credence to the random answers given by waitstaff.

I am interested in the excluded dish on the Bliss. Was this stated on the menu? There were some items on menus until recently which were excluded, but I was under the impression that they had gone when the prices were increased recently. I wonder whether this is new, or an older menu is being used on the Bliss.

The "off limits" for the SDP was a $35 t-bone. It was on menu at French and Italian restaurants.

That sounds like the restrictions for the platinum meal, rather than the SDP.

Just got off the Bliss last week. At all the specialty restaurants, we were told its 2-1-1 for the SDP. Also, there was a steak dish on the menus that were not covered by SDP.

When I asked the asst Maitre d' about those limits, she just said "order what you want. we want you to be happy", which is what I did.

However, all the waiters were telling other guests the same SDP limit info.

If you are planning on seeing the original canal you may be disappointed, the larger ships can only traverse the new locks. So, a little research to find a ship that will go through the original locks would be in order.

We went through the original on the Jade and it was amazing to see what had been done with early 20th century equipment and technology.

Which ships still go through the old locks?

Is there anything specific you have questions on? What’s your itinerary? Here’s my general advice:

We saw temps from 40 and drizzling to 75 and sunny. Definitely bring a lightweight raincoat that you can layer under, a hat and gloves, shoes that are good for walking and can handle moisture. We loved using our binoculars from the balcony and from the pool decks and promenade...lots to see! We didn’t bring true winter coats and instead opted for layering (at the coldest, long sleeve shirt + sweatshirt + fleece jacket).

Thanks for the Sept weather info. Very helpful! Any mosquitoes in Sept?

Itinerary is Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, and Victoria.  Any recommendations on shore excursions to do (or avoid) during Sept?

We spent a lot of time on our balcony and out on deck too in September...I’m imagining the weather to be similarly variable in May.

    Hi gopherpharm!

Wife and I are going to Alaska mid-Sept this year (2019) on the Bliss in a mini-suite. Any advice/recommendations/etc you can give for that time of year would be very much appreciated!
