Some of you have been posting about the terrible loss of the NCL crew member during an incident in Honduras. I send my deepest condolences to his family and to everyone at NCL who mourn the tragic loss of a friend and colleague.

I also wanted to share this statement with you which we are passing to our guests who are and will be sailing to Roatan.

As a result of a number of reports of armed robberies and other street crimes against tourists in and around the municipality of Santos Guardiolo, which is on the east end of Roatan, as well as in Palm Beach in the northeastern section of Roatan, we are now providing informational letters to all guests on cruises visiting Roatan. The letters advise guests of incidences of crime on the island and offer practical advice and safety tips while visiting Roatan as well as tourist destinations in general.

Authorities in Roatan have announced an increase in the number of police patrols in areas typically frequented by travelers. Carnival Cruise Lines ships visiting Roatan dock at the Mahogany Bay Cruise Center which is a dedicated cruise ship facility managed by Carnival Corporation. Mahogany Bay features direct beachfront access, duty free shopping and dining venues situated among 18 acres of landscaped grounds. For guests who want to explore beyond the Mahogany Bay Cruise Center, we are strongly encouraging them to book a shore excursion sold through the ship or to utilize Mahogany Bay Cruise Center taxis which are subject to an inspection program for fair pricing and safety practices.

Our security management continues to closely monitor the situation in Roatan.

    Thank you.

  3. Thanks, hope you enjoy it, the Breeze for my week is 8 days but after doing some research it seems a lot like the NCL Breakaway and I didn't care for that ship, too big and I rarely saw the same people twice. So I am leaning towards the Liberty as well. Do you know if the shows require reservations on Liberty?

Also wondering if the balconies have coffee makers and fridges like on NCL ships?

The breeze did not have coffee maker. It did have a fridge but was stocked with beer and soda.

I did not care for the Ncl Breakaway, either. It is just too big.

I just sailed on RC Liberty of the Seas last month. I did not care for that ship at all.

I prefer ships that are around 80,000 tons or less. I don't need rock wall, ice rinks, water parks, etc. i just want to relax. That said, I really liked the Breeze. I liked the different areas of the ship. It had a different feel from the other ships I had been on.

We sailed on NCL Sun over Christmas/NYE and are booked on NCL Pearl for this Christmas /NYE

  4. We just made this choice.

We had sailed on Carnival twice before and were not been impressed. After our last Carnival cruise five years ago, I swore I would never go on another one.

I got a great deal and thought I would try it.

I sailed on Carnival Breeze in Sept. It was a great ship. I had an amazing time. If our first two Carnival cruises would of been like this, I would of never sailed on other lines.

My family decided to book a last minute cruise for Easter. It was between the Breeze and Liberty. My teens choose Liberty because it was a 7 night instead of 6 night. Plus, it was $500 cheaper.

I can't wait to until we go next week. I have read great reviews about Liberty. During my research, it seemed like Breeze and Liberty were the two favorite ships in the fleet.

  5. We were there a few days after the storm. They were still cleaning up mud slides and bridges. We were still able to g on our tour. It was just modified. We were booked on COSOL. we could not stop at waterfall because it had washed out. We could not go to bakery because it was flooded. A few of the bridges were washed out. They were able to make temporary bridges.

  6. You know your kids. One of y kids favorite things when cruising is making new friends and hanging out. Now, that they are teens they rarely go to the clubs.

My kids hated Allure of the Seas. They said that it was too big and very difficult to meet other kids. They would never do all of the activities.

The last time we sailed on Carnival about 6 years ago, they hated it. They were both in the kids program. My son was in 4th grade and daughter was in 1st grade.

We sail on all lines and have enjoyed each cruise. We cruise 2-3 times a year.

I sailed on the Breeze in Sept and had a great time. I wanted to book it for our family. But, our kids wanted a longer cruise. 7 days on Liberty instead of 6 on Breeze.

I am hoping that they will have a good time.

ETA: My kids prefer to cruise on smaller ships- 80,000 tons is a good size for them. They are so busy in their everyday lives that they just want to hang out and do nothing. We sailed on NCL Sun over Christmas/NYE and my son said it was the best cruise he has ever been on.

  7. I really liked The Breeze. I went with my mom and knew that my family would love it. We were debating between these two cruises for Easter.

Liberty- 7 night Cozumel, Belize, Roaton, and Grand Cayman. It was $500 cheaper than Breeze.

Breeze- 6 night Grand Turk, St Thomas, St Martin

My family choose Liberty because it was a longer cruise.

  8. Just compared NCL and DCL for our august cruise for the same week

    DCl Fantasy $4200 western

    NCL Getaway $3155 eastern

I would switch but I promised my daughter that we would go on DCL one more time since she is old enough to go into the teen club.

  9. FYI - the base cruise fare on DCL compared to the base cruise fare of NCL when we priced our current trip would've only been $1300 more total for our party. Maybe NCL overcharged us? haha.

We priced out the Epic, Breakaway, and Getaway, too. They were $5000-$6000 depending on ship. But, they were only 7 nights. They are still cheaper than DCL.

We do have DCL Fantasy cruise booked for the end of August. It was $4200 with onboard booking discount.

  10. That may be correct but I can cruise twice on NCL for what it would cost for one Disney cruise

I have cruised 7 times on DCL. Disney has started to get very expensive. When they can't fill the ships and offer Florida, Military or Cast member discounts You can get some good deals during hurricane season.

But, I just booked an 11 night Holiday cruise on NCL Pearl for $4100.

A 7 night DCL cruise on the Fantasy for New Year;s was $8900.

DCl has Cove Cafe ( paid coffee bar)- NCL- same thing

We just got off NCL Sun 10 night Holiday cruise. It was $300 for our family of 4 to get the soda card. Even if you add that NCl is half the price of DCL.

DCL was great when our kids were young. Now that they are teens, they don't use the DCL clubs anymore. My son said that the NCL white hot party and New Year Eve party were the best 2 nights he has ever had on a cruise. (He has been on 15 cruises . The last time we sailed NCL he was 1 yr old.)

  11. It will be crowded. We are there that day, too. There are 7 ships in port. We opted to do an excursion through the cruiseline because we think that getting a taxi might be difficult.

    Everything should be open..

  12. I sent a copy of the confirmation to Reyno. My husband had contacted him with some questions. Reyno sent him an email about what was included.

He has never responded to my emails about my experience. However, he was very quick to reply when we wanted to book a tour.

ETA: I just tried to look up reyno tours online and the website has been changed. It lists links to tours all over the world. Interesting....

  13. We were in Dominica on April 11. Someone from our cruise meet arranged a private tour with Reyno. It was $50 a person. The price was suppose to include admissions. Since there were 10 people, we had 2 vans. It was my husband and I and two kids, 13 and 11., in one van and the other 6 adults in the other van.

We did a the literary backwards since Dominica has law that only cruise excursions can go to the Major points of interest before noon.

    Nature first the get wet

General Tour is about 4 to 5 hours.

Entails a 30 minutes drive from the Capital Roseau into Roseau Valley Rain Forest, 30 minutes stop at TiTou Gorge, a 40 minutes stop at the Trafalgar Falls, we proceed to the Wotten Waven Hot Sulphur Spring for 15 minutes, a drive through the Botanical Gardens, 10 minutes stop at Morne Bruce View Point of the City, 1 hour Snockeling at the Champagne Reef and then back to the ship.

Note: We serve refreshments /drinks on all our tours and site passes or entrance fees will be included in tour package prices.

Our first stop was an overlook. We saw the port/ ship.

Second stop was Champagne reef for snorkeling. It was $2 a per person admission fee into the preserve plus another $12 a person for snorkel gear. Spent an $56.

Third stop was the gorge. You did not need life jackets but the guide recommended them since there was a strong current near the waterfall and the water was very deep in spots. It was $2 each to rent a life jacket. We rented 3. Another $6 spent

The Fourth stop was to the falls. It was $5 per person admission. Spent another $20.

The Falls were very crowded. There were hot springs there.

We never stopped at the hot springs listed in tour.

The driver still charged us full price for the tour. I have tried to contact Reyno last week to share our experience but he never returned my emails.

We had a great time and Dominica is amazing but we will never book with Reyno again. We feel that it was false description of tour or the driver ripped us of.
