  1. No, but I will check it out. I had all of the pins I listed above, but they seem to have disappeared during our move! I’m hoping they will turn up eventually.....probably when I have given up looking for them! Lol

  2. Ive got 9 pins from the Dawn still in their plastic ........

I have a collection of the NCL ship pins but am trying to collect those I don’t have. I would love to get one for the Dawn, Spirit, Sky, Pearl, Joy, Jade, Getaway, and Escape.

Please advise if you have any of these you would like to trade or sell!

  3. Opinions, please...

Thinking of booking an inside cabin located directly under the bridge. Do you think there would be much noise coming from there (especially at night)?

Anyone actually had a cabin before in that location who could comment from experience?

    Thanks!!

Just read your post and although we did not experience noise in our cabin (8116) on the Breakaway we did experience water dripping onto our balcony from the extended platform on the bridge where the captain/pilot/navigators stand when ship is docking or leaving port. I don't know the source of the dripping, but cabins 8116, 8118, 8120 and maybe more got wet during docking and/or leaving port! That was the only problem we had with mini suite 8116 which has an extra large balcony.

  4. Room services was always a nice little treat that I liked to take advantage of. I certainly won't be doing that anymore on my upcoming Allure sailing in April.

It's really too bad that RCI has decided to take away this free perk and instead charge a rather hefty $7.95 for it. I can understand if they extended the $3.95 late night charge to any time of day but $7.95 seems like just a huge cash grab even if they slightly upgrade the menu.

For my next cruise I was considering both NCL and RCI... but now that RCI has matched NCL in the room service charge that's one less advantage RCI had over NCL and will factor into my decision on which company to go with later in the year.

I would venture to say that if RCCL was really honest and wanted to give a credible explanation for charging the $7.95 for all room service orders, they would make the changes to upgrade their menu first, and then implement the extra charge!

  5. I've been reading through this thread and have come to a conclusion that nobody has offered thus far.... some, both male "speedo" wearers and female "micro-kini" wearers have at least one thing in common. They are to some degree, EXHIBITIONISTS! They enjoy showing their body parts in a way they think will either excite, disgust or provoke envy. I'm not talking about everybody. I am referring to those who put on their attire and parade around as though they are on a fashion runway or posing for a photo shoot! They rarely enter the pool to actually swim! Therefore, In our society, there are those who put "speedos" or "micro-kinis" on to use for swimming and those who put theirs on to draw attention to their bodies! Nothing will change this, and people will continue to wear what they want and cannot be shamed into doing anything else!

Christmas at sea! The checked bag that got left behind in Atlanta had Christmas gifts in it. The bag was meant to be carried on, but we were forced to surrender it at the gate in Chicago because all the overhead storage on the plane was full. So I was thankful that the bag was re-united with us in Vina del Mar. As a side note, I was very impressed with Delta's customer service with this "lost" bag issue.

Since this was our first Christmas cruise, we decided to bring gifts for each other to open. Of course this put a limitation on the size of the gift which was fine.

In the evening, all the passengers received a letter informing us that "a small percentage of guests" have experienced an illness thought to be Norovirus. As the trip went on, more aggressive measures were being taken to contain the problem. In the end the ship managed to avoid a large outbreak.

Our Christmas stockings. We all missed our two dogs, Zoe and Cookie. We had "their" Christmas before we left for the cruise.

  7. We just got back from our honeymoon on RCCL and the food was HORRIBLE. To us it was airplane quality crap. Someone else aboard commented it was prison quality.

Is there a cruiseline with QUALITY food?

Yes, there is a cruiseline with superior food! Oceania Cruiseline has magnificent food on all of their ships! And, you don't have to go to Specialty restaurants to get it! The dining room and buffet stations serve gourmet food, all the time!!!!!

  8. Are these casinos larger than the casinos on the Oasis and Allure?

I've heard that NCL has the largest casinos afloat! Haven't been on RCCL mega ships, but others who have, did confirm this!

  9. There is one in the Sheraton across the street from the port in old San Juan. It was decent for me, I won a bit.

  10. What kind of comps do you get from the casino at the end of your CAS cruise? What stuff do they pay for off your bill? And do they always do this or just if you lose a lot? Do the casino drink cards only cover water, soda, beer, and wine? Any other perks one can expect?

I'm taking my first comped CAS cruise this December and want to know what to look forward to.

    Thanks!

  11. This. Tried it twice this past December on the Escape and it is now my favorite cut of beef at Cagney's. 2nd place goes to the Filet served at Le Bistro.

We had 4 day dining on this past 7 night cruise + 2 platinum dinners soooo.

3 Le Bistro (sadly only 1 appetizer given on the platinum voucher nights which I think is just plain penny pinching cheezy :( ), 2 Cagney's and 1 La Cucina. I know they refreshed the La Cucina menu but it was the worst food I've had onboard an NCL ship period (service OK but food terrible). I won't be returning to La Cucina EVER!

Our next cruise we will most likely fill our specialty nights between Cagney's (hope the Tomahawk is still on the menu) and Le Bistro, possibly with 1 night in Moderno or Teppenyaki to break up the monotony..

Does LaCucina still have Ossobuco on their menu. That was the only thing we liked! We haven't eaten in LaCucina on any ship in the past 3 years! It WAS terrible food!!!

  12. My husband ordered this last June and it was the best steak he ever had! But sadly, they have taken this Tomahawk off the menu. I heard they were going to and when I check the current Cagney's menu, it is gone! So sad, because he was so looking forward to it again this March!

DH and I just got off the Breakaway on January 29 and the tomahawk ribeye was on the menu....DH had it!!!!!
