Looking for some advice... Prices for Rock The Boat 2017 are quite high not sure if this is because its only just been released. The line up is great but I dont want to book & then the price drops.
Has anyone watched the prices on chartered cruises... Do they fluctuate throughout the year???? Thanks

Hi there, We have just booked for Pearly NYE cruise out of Sydney 27th Dec 12 nights. I cannot find any threads regarding this cruise, even checked the roll call and couldn't find one there either. Is there any other cruisers out there that are booked on this cruise? All our other cruises we have done we always book nearly 12 months out but this was a last minute one and feels great not to have to wait too long But would love to chat and find others on this cruise.. Fiona
Youve got the ship to yourself.hahah. Very jealous wish we could have come with you 😂

We did pay extra for the royal seats because we didn't know what to expect. You're correct that it was intimate enough that you could see very well from anywhere you were seated. The buffet line wasn't very long either. The only benefit to the royal seats was if you wanted to be called up on stage. The Chief took a man from each of the royal seats and brought him on stage and there were some ritual things they did and some dancing things. But that part was really funny. My husband was chosen and he's a huge ham so he loved it. The picture that they show on their website is exactly what it looked like except the buffet was under tents because it was a bit drizzly off and on the day we were there.
Thanks so much for your feedback...I will definitely just book the standard package then. Ummm no I think I would rather sit and laugh at others...unless I've had a few champagnes no way would you get me up on stage :D
-
We had narrowed it down to Lahaina and Smith's, but due to time constraints and transportation issues, we weren't able to do either. We ended up going to the Chief's Luau in Sealife Park near Waikiki. It included seeing the turtles and sharks at the park, as well as hula instruction, ti leaf headband making lessons, tattoos, etc. We watched them unearth the pig. It was very intimate (I think there were less than 100 people there) and it felt like we were special guests of the Chief, not just part of a huge crowd. The buffet line was not very long and we could get seconds. (The pig was awesome!!) A couple of drinks were included (and they weren't watered down). There was fire dancing and other polynesian dances. We had such a good time, the Chief was hilarious and we felt it was money well spent. I think we were there about 4 hours. I would highly recommend this one.
I was also considering doing this one...great reviews on TripAdvisor...can you tell me if it's necessary to pay the extra to have better seats? If there is only about 100 people can you still see what's going on no matter where you sit?

I agree, & there is nothing much in the way of eating places except the hotel & shrimp trucks. It is a very nice up-scale hotel. The lobby is beautiful.
Can you rent a car from Turtle Bay or is it best to hire a car from Honolulu beforehand? We are staying at Waikiki for 5 nights then going to North Shore for 5 nights. Thanks .....Donna

From next year, us Aussies are getting both the Voyager and the Explorer. I realise they are the same class but just wondered if there is any difference between the two? If you have cruised on both do you have a preference?
Great question....you just read my mind! Be interesting to hear back from people who have sailed on both. Donna

Just did the cruise and loved every minute of it. This was my first cruise and I was lucky enough to be in a newly refurbed penthouse suite on deck 13. We are mature cruisers with no kids so can't really comment from a young families viewpoint although they seemed to be very kid friendly and fun and we enjoyed the entertainment which was very family friendly and they had a HUGE range of dining options and we never ate anywhere other than the complimentary places on offer. We enjoyed every show and on board activity and loved the mix of American glitz and hawaiiana. Shore excursions are plentiful but expensive if booked via Norwegian.
Sent from my iPad using Forums
Thanks Bawleygirl and Punkybubbles.
I was looking at the Penthouse suites too...what category/number did you stay in? Was deck 13 a good location to everything?

We did this cruise in May last year It is a great way to see a different island each day. All the information I needed I found by visiting Ports of Call--Hawaii and also joining the Roll Call for NCL then clicking on POM and finding my date for the cruise. These sights gave me so much info. I also read the reviews posted by other passengers who had done the cruise. Just remember they are only their opinions so go on board with an open mind. Cruising an American ship is a lot different to P&O or Carnival. I will say it was a great trip with no sea days and a different port each day.The cruise gave us an insight into Hawaii and ideas for our next trip there. Our cabin was on deck 4 so I can't help you there but go on these other sites and you will find what you need to now.
Thanks Aussiegirl.
-
Hi we are thinking about going to Hawaii in Sept and cruising on Pride of America.
Just wanted to see if anyone has travelled on her since the refurbishment and any comments about what deck is best to stay on.
Are there any other Aussies travelling on this ship in Sept?
Also if anyone has stayed in a B1 Aft facing balcony....are they big enough for 3 people? Donna
-
If you have a reservation number and have paid your deposit the price won't go up.
We booked a GS on rhapsody in november 2014 during the sale and it is now double the price. In fact the price we secured is less than a balcony, absolute awesome deal.
We also booked a GS and Inside cabin on Radiance in Jan 2015 and both have doubled in price. Pays to get in early :D

Well, we may have been lucky but our 14 night NYE cruise, there was no problems. No sickness, no smells (as reported by others who have recently cruised) and no problems with drinks, not out of stock etc..... It actually was probably our best cruise to date. Awesome ship, can't wait for the next NYE cruise after the refurb, I thought it was great now so after the refurb it will be even better. Fiona :)
Have to agree with you Fiona...Voyager was our best cruise yet! We must have been so lucky not having any of the problems mentioned above.
Such a shame that the other cruisers had such a bad experience... you look forward all year to it and for something like that to happen is not fair ...hopefully everyone has fully recovered from their sickness.
For those considering Voyager, she really is a beautiful ship and with all her enhancements happening this year, new dining venues, Flowrider, new type of room (virtual balcony) outdoor cinema etc she will be even better! Donna
-
Omg. You have booked? Best go look at itiniery.
Its' only a short one, 9 nights goes to Noumea, Vila and Lifou...but it's a ship we haven't been on before and a good time of the year for us (xmas & birthdays over and done with by then). Although you can't beat NYE on a ship!!! Donna
-
We were also on voyager NYE cruise with Donna. I agree with everything she said. The only trouble was we couldn't find Wayne. :D
If you have any questions, fire away. We can help. Fiona
Hi Fiona,
would love to do this all over again with you all ...maybe end of 2015.... this time we've booked Radiance leaves 4th Jan 2015....want to jump ship????
Then you might be able to find Wayne :D

Wanting to do a cruise at the end of the year. I am now considering the Voyager for NYE as teens don't want to be at sea for Christmas. Not many ports, lots of sea days. 14 days - ports are Suva, Lautoka (Fiji) and Wellington, Auckland & Tauranga (NZ). Teens are very keen to experience the Voyager and I like the idea of only having to cross the Tasman once. Anyone have any thoughts? Would also be interested to hear from anyone who did the same cruise last year.
I can definitely help you there! We did this last NYE on Voyager for 14 nights (same itinerary except we stopped at Noumea instead of Suva). I travelled with my hubby & teens (boy 18 and girl 14). We all had THE BEST TIME. If you read the thread by TassieCruiser it will give you an idea of how much fun it was.
NYE was a blast....parties all around the ship...Royal Promenade goes off at midnight...the Pig & Whistle pub is sooo much fun...but beware if your teens are 18 or over the Vault nightclub will be their 2nd home...along with days in bed and waking up in the afternoon to do it all again...thank god I got them an inside cabin! They spent most of their time on deck at night in the pools/spas and met some really nice friends. My daughter said the Teens club was a lot of fun too.
We had lots of different themes...2 parties were up on deck around the pool area...dancing/ cocktail bar flarer/ there was a white party (dress all in white), 70's night in Promenade etc...all ages went to these parties.
In regards to tours, I can highly recommend something we did as a group I think there were about 15 of us...it was called GO Dirt Buggys in Lautoka if you have adventurous teens they will love this...takes you through mud tracks, stop for a swim in lake with locals, our guide Junior even let us experience Kava along the way (not very good parenting but it was an experience we all had together) :D Tauranga was another port we loved..it has a great beach and it's where all the young NZ locals go for their holidays..so the atmosphere was great ...could get hanna tattoos, loud music playing along the beach...teens will love this stop! Suva I can't comment on and Wellington (we did the cable car) and Auckland you can jump off the Sky tower not for the faint hearted.
We have friends we met on Voyager going again this year (I can't because of mums 80th NYE) otherwise we definitely would be doing this one again. Just keep your husband away from them..all the hubby's thought a pub crawl would be a good idea starting at the top and working their way down...think there is about 13 bars all up...well they ended up in the Big Red Car on the Promenade...very funny sight!
Not sure if you know but Voyager is getting refurb this year so when she comes back to Australia will also have the Flowrider and other enhancements made to her. Johnny Rockets is also great (especially for that New Years Day hang over) :D If there is anything in particular you want to know just ask. Donna

That is what I am saying the first price was a good price but to pay $548.00 per night just seems a bit much and we have been in a JS on Rhapsody before and it just seems pricey (last cruise in march in JS 3 adults $4870.00 11 nights) As I said C1 and JS are different but having never sailed celebrity all I can see is an extra 45sq feet and a bath tub in the JS
But at the end of the day if I don't like I don't have to book it
Having said that just booked the Radiance 9 night Jan cruise Balcony for $362.00 per night 2 adults
Thanks for your replies
That's the one we booked too departs 4th Jan. (9 nights south pacific)..prices are still pretty good on this one! Now that the xmas /nye cruises are so ridiculously priced I think many will start to see what's on offer after this period. Be interesting to see how much they go up after the sale. I have started a roll call .....on there on my little lonesome...feel free to join in :D
-
Last weekend was looking at cruises for jan2015 saw one on Rhapsody 9 night south pacific $3526.00 for 2 adults in a JS
Went to book it today the price is now $4938.00? which equates to $548.00 per night for 2 adults seems a bit steep to me and this is supposed to be part of Royals early bird sail
Unless I am a bit out of tune with prices these days but we will be on Solstice soon which works out at $274.00 for two adults in a C1 cabin
I know they are not the same as a JS on Royal but the JS price seems to expensive to me or am I wrong?
For the same itinerary on Radiance in Jan 2015, it's about $6600 for 2 in a Jnr Suite, $4900 not too bad. Donna
-
looks like we will be partying in your gs donna. It's huge and glam :d:d:d
ally
absolutely :d

We have CC friends on the 4th January cruise (they are staying on from the Christmas/NYE cruise). We would have but we have friends arriving from overseas on the 6th.
You are right about the pricing for the Christmas/NYE cruise now - just crazy but they managed to sell out all the suites. I booked it months ago so the price was steep but what I expected to pay for the time but now it is ridiculous.
I hope you enjoy 1556 - just remember to push the curtains all the way back to the walls and slide open up those doors - it's wow:) I'll go in just before we disembark and leave you something:)
Cheers
Di
Sounds good....I'll look forward to that:D
Aussielozzie18...I got upgraded on my first ever cruise on Rhapsody to a Grand Suite and now can't go back...someone at RCI definitely knew what they were doing! Donna
-
Pleasure Donna! Which cruise?
We have just cancelled one on the Radiance in December because we prefer one on the Rhapsody. Managed to snag the RS as well:)
Cheers
Di
Radiance 4th January...still pretty good pricing on this one. The xmas/Nye cruises are outrageous pricing now...pays to get in early.
I snuck into the RS on Rhapsody to have a look at the end of our cruise once...very nice! Could have a lot of fun in there. Enjoy Di.
-
Oh darn I hate that they aren't showing, I copied and pasted them from photobucket. Looking at pics of 1066 looks like both have nice balconies. I think I will have to try 1066 if available on a future Radiance class ship.
I can see them now on my home computer work must have some sort of block.
The photos are great...thanks so much for posting them.
You have convinced me to book 1556...such a nice view looking out!!!
Donna
-
Hi Donna, you're welcome!
I think if you have kids, you would be better with 1060 because of the size of the balcony and they're out the door and up the stairs to Windjammers:).
Cheers
Di
Well I ended up going with 1556 being closer to the centre hump and that gorgeous view from the lounge room won me over! When I went to pay my deposit the price came down by another $1500 (on top of discount that was already applied). Not sure what happened there but got the GS for a great price! Took a printout just in case! My kids are 15 & 18 so they have an inside room because they party all night and sleep till after lunch....so anything different would be a waste of money :D Thanks again for your awesome photos. Donna
