My husband and I are taking our first river boat cruise with Viking next month. We'll be travelling the Moselle and spending some extra days post cruise in Switzerland. If anyone can give a clue as to how much cash in euros and Swiss francs we should take for this 2 week trip, I'd appreciate your input.

We have booked a Viking River cruise with another couple to do the Moselle River and an extension in Switzerland starting April 22. We still don't know what we should do. Part of me wants to take this once in a lifetime trip and the other part doesn't want to be anywhere close if Putin starts bombing nuclear reactors or if the fighting spreads to other nations. The other couple has had this cruise canceled once due to covid so I don't know if they would want to postpone again. This is so a minor problem compared to what Ukraine is going through.

Remember to book directly with the hotel instead a third party like booking .com or hotels.com. I made the mistake of booking through one of those sites and I found out just weeks before the cruise that my confirmation number didn't exist according to the hotel. We had to scramble to find another hotel and it cost more to stay there.

Let's put it this way, you'll see a lot more star fish if you snorkel. Also adults are able to stand on the sandbar to touch the stingrays, but it isn't shallow enough for a 3 year old's feet to touch the bottom in my opinion. Make sure your younger kids wear a life jacket.

I did the Stringray City plus 2 snorkel stops with Captain Marvin last week. Our boat operator gave no snorkel instruction to the families on board ( my daughter and I already knew how to snorkel) and only put lifejackets on the kids after it was apparent that they were struggling in the water, If your kids aren't good swimmers, insist that they use life jackets or at least, a float noodle. Sorry, we didn't do the caves, but I thought that I better give you a head's up about the snorkeling part. Also their website said that they would take pictures for you (for a fee), but no pictures were taken. I left my camera back on the cruise ship since I thought I really didn't need it.

I found Stringray City a bit rushed too peroorim. Also the other thing that I was disappointed in was that their website advertises that they will take picture of you with the stingrays (for a fee of course) so I didn't take my camera. No pictures were taken. Our boat operator got into a shouting match with another boat operator when he was trying to anchor at Stingray City

My daughter and I used Captain Marvin's last week. They were okay. The water was a little rough last week, but they gave no snorkeling instruction to those families on board who hadn't snorkeled before. Fortunately we already knew how to snorkel and swim. I know that the excursion included 2 snorkel spots, but either families need to know their swimming capabilities, or their website should make it clearer what is physically involved.

I'll echo what JT1962 said. We did Native Choice's Chacchoben Extreme tour last week. It was a 50 minute drive to the ruins, then a 20 minute drive from there to the Bacalar Lagoon. The road back into the Bacalar Lagoon was very bumpy. We liked being in a smaller group of 12 and our tour guide was very helpful. It was a little too windy for me to spend as much time as I wanted to kayak. I also recommend wearing water shoes at the lagoon. Plus the pineapple we got on the way back was delicious!

I was there just last week. We enjoyed the low-key, relaxing vibe there. The food was good and the service was quick. I didn't see anything when I snorkeled, and we enjoyed the pool. Wouldn't mind going there again.

My husband booked one through tripadvisor.com, but that tour was cancelled since he and my son-in-law were the only ones to sign up. We didn't even get a email about the cancellation until after our ship had already left Grand Cayman. The tour group substituted another tour for them and told my husband to contact tripadvisor with any complaints.

Thank you so much clean1owner!

I'll be on Adventure for 6 nights clean 1 owner. Would you please post the Compasses?

Thank you so much for your review and pictures! DH and I are doing this cruise in November and it will be our first time sailing with Celebrity.

Thanks everyone for the great ideas. We might go with the cruise cash. However today my daughter expressed interest in two different excursions. One was the Amazing Cozumel Race and the other is the Stringray Sandbar, Hell, and Turtle Farm Experience in Grand Cayman. Which one is a better excursion?

Thanks for the ideas. We can't upgrade them since they already booked a suite.I like the idea of ship credit for the steakhouse or excursions. I think they might like that better than chocolate covered strawberries.:)

My daughter and future son-in-law will be having their honeymoon on Carnival Legend in April. My husband and I have been on the Carnival website looking at various things to send to their cabin. What items have you given or received that make the best gifts? Are there things that aren't worth the money? I would appreciate anyone's input. Thanks!

Thanks for all your answers. We are flying into Paris, spending a full day there before being bussed to our ship at Trier. I wasn't sure if was easy to find ATMs in any of our stops at Cochem, Koblenz, Mainz, or Speyer. A friend who has travelled in Germany said that Germans prefer cash over credit cards. Since we have never been there, I appreciate all advice.
