  1. My wife and I see a lot of people complaining about the service in the MDR we noticed service going down hill ever since tip are put on our bills or tip in a package. We have been cruising for 25plus years and when the last night came you walked to the dining room with the envelopes and everyone kissed your ass all week. Now no need to do that. We always commented how we saw the people we never saw all week till then.

We have been getting the UDP the last 3 cruises because the food in the MDR we feel has gone down hill. We feel they want to sell the specialty restaurants.

  2. We have done the ultimate dinning the last 2 years and plan this year too. We eat in all the spec rest all week in clouding lunch in bistro on the 5 and when the spec rest have lunch it covered. I don't remember how much it is but it our excursion. They only sell it on board and they don't advise it. I don't know why they don't ad it.

  3. I'm not sure of the price for Q it's $25. Or $35/ person it's very fun place. If you book on the site you have to pay now. We wait till we get on the ship. They also run specials in the spec rest when they are not so busy so it maybe worth waiting.

  4. you might want to consider the ultimate dining package as it is only $29 per day not much more then the 5 night package and you almost get everything

We have done the ultimate dinning pkg the last two cruises. It is a great deal ( well I think so ) we have friends who won't pay extra for food and we go without them. The ultimate package isn't advertised and where if so I can't find it. Did you book it on the ship or before? I fear that there won't be times available when we board.

  5. I would love to see Celebrity designate a portion of its fleet in the Caribbean as "Adults Only" during the month of March, so that people who want to cruise without children have a viable alternative. We haven't had kid problems on our Celebrity cruises to date, but we are very careful not to cruise during spring break season. Personally, I think it could be a great marketing tool and very much in line with their "Modern Luxury" theme.

I would be in for that. I have children and grandchildren but when I'm on vacation without kids I don't need them running around. The problem we had was they were running and jumping in the pool landing on people and no parent said a word. I had to go ask a parent to control her child. I couldn't find someone from Celb around the pool to say anything to.

  6. Very standard process, especially in busy restaurants. Brunches would be at a standstill if they didn't have dozens of pre-poached eggs on hand. Often they poach them and keep them in a warmer for when they need it.

I am surprised people are so surprised when they find out that many of the menus items are pre-prepared. A classic example is risotto....rs rely is risotto prepared to order as it takes so long to make it. Pre-prepared and finished as it is ordered. That is the way restaurants work.

Back about 8 years ago I took a lesson on how to make poached eggs on the ship. The chef made 35 ahead every morning.

  7. We had an awful holiday cruise on Reflection with 450 kids running wild everywhere, and even though we are Elite with Celebrity we are once again going to consider an All Inclusive as an alternative to cruising. Like you, we have been all over the Caribbean and don't even bother to get off the ship when we dock anymore. We love it when the pools and hot tubs are empty but this last trip with all of the kids ruined our vacation.

Since this is not the first time we've soured on Celebrity, we have done some nice AI's but the most notable of all was The Jamaica Inn in Ocho Rios. Not cheap and not cooky cutter but just an amazing place to relax on the beach under a huge tree and read a book. It is located on a small, private slip of beach with what they call "Champane Sand". The water is delightfully swimmable and refreshing and there is private security there to make certain that guests are not disturbed. I think there are only about 40 rooms. You can do the inn either with or without meals and there is a drink plan as well. You can also opt to be picked up at the airport and I highly recommend that as well. I would definitely do the meal plan because the food was splendid. If you can spring for it, consider one of the beachfront rooms. You'll see photos of them on the website. We had a second floor room where we sat on the balcony after dining every night. Met really interesting people there. It was just a wonderful week and we hated to leave. The place is positively heaven and very different from the brand name AI's!

We went 2 years ago on Reflection on the week of March 17th there were 650 kids. What a nightmare running crazy we found out its FL spring break. Last year we went the first week of February and this year the last week. All we can do is hope it wouldn't be so bad if the parents would watch them it was a zoo.
