1. Not much of a silly question.

Alchemy Bar on the Sunshine is great. I get bored with some of the drinks and I say just make me something with....

And if you have an awesome bartender or mixoligist, they will even add more of something if you like after you taste it. (So dont be afraid to say hey its not stong enough or not tastey enough.)

  2. On the Inaugural Sunshine they were doing a good job. I would get up at 5 am and get me a chair, watch the Sunrise and stay in it all day, except to go to the bathroom, on the same deck and eat breakfat or lunch, by dinner they were more open. But I did lose my chair when I went to lunch one day... No big deal.

They had stickers I would see them mark your towel with it, and collect your stuff and lost and found it.

  3. I do self assist and as a platinum member you can go to the main dining room and you are escorted off the ship first thing after customs clears the ship. First trip they were missing persons in immigrations and keep calling for them. The second trip, my paper said be at dinning room at 7:40 am and when I arrived she said they had already left, I just took the stairs myself and got fussed at, but showed my card and left. The last time I got off the ship at 7:30 am. Parking is $75 at the port but is just a quick walk from the pier. But this time of year fog causes delays getting in and out of port sometimes

I love the cheers program, However, after your 15 drinks I was not able to even purchase a drink.

I wish I would have meet Tommy, he may have been the bald gentleman in the back, doing the Martinis? My bartenders were, Oscar, Ardi, Mary Grace, Cholanda (She took a while to warm up to myself but was well worth it for the service) Say "Hi" to them form, I'll be back in April but most are leaving right before then.

Look, for crew smoking deck. Its accessible from a set of inside stairs (Not Marked Crew Only), Aft on Upper Deck, it goes up to the Empress deck below Serenity, there it is marked crew only.

  4. My last cruise on the Sunshine, occasionally I saw parents with children on the Serenity deck, however I saw a crew member politely point to a sign that said no children allowed and they quickly exited. Never saw any children roaming free in the area.

As a new cruiser back in 1995, I was unaware of the topless deck and did not read the signs..... It was new and fun to explore the ship. I don’t blame them.

However, the thermal suits were a different story... I was asked to be quiet after a few ladies and my self came from a wild night that carried over into the early morning.... Sorry, it was my fault we were having a good time.... but were interrupting the serenity of the area. So us drunken adults can wreck havoc on the ship also.

Serenity, Ji Ji's Asian Kitchen (Up charge for Dinner), and the Cuban bar were my fav's.

  5. Wow! The video could be viewed a lot of ways. But I believe it was Handled with the utmost care. Maintain scene safety, extinguish fire.

What you did not see was The crew evacuated guest from the area after the water intrusion. Area was empty and Salt water shorted the tv. A passing crew member saw the fire and yelled to other crew. Being trained properly he assumed the lead onscene command for a incipient fire while others grabbed the extinguisher. So he tried to collect water and dislodge tv from wall but fire was to big. Fire team then showed up and put fire out.

I believe that is how I was trained in marine firefighting. I work for an US oil company and in the Marine world safety is the utmost important concern.

  6. No Pool! That was a downer, but I enjoyed the rest of the options. Could not help but fall asleep on the heated lounge tables, sweated my behind off in all the saunas, and enjoyed a shower with all the options. I am so glad it is now co-ed the small ships seperate the sexes, troublesome for couples.

    Zydeco, always has great pics.

  7. First off, yes, I deal with a travel agent, and I know they have to initiate the transaction, but I figured I'd ask you fine folks here, before I contact my TA. (they are bizarre)

Last month I booked B2B cruises for August 2014 during Cruise appreciation month. I feel I got a decent rate far late summer and $200 OBC for each segment.

I see now that the price of one segment has dropped $100pp in my category and $200pp on the other segment. Will my TA be able to get my rate dropped to current pricing AND keep OBC? I really like the cabin selections we have, and really don't want to move.

The other snag with this is my TA is part of a vacation club I stupidly joined a while back. I am guaranteed at least 15% off any posted rates on any website, and yes, I did get my 15% off the fare but the reduction is based on what carnival is showing.

Is it worth my asking for the reduced fares, or is this going to turn into a song and dance, not worth the effort?

If the OBC does not carry over then you will be paying more overall for the cruise. Not worth it. But you can run the numbers with your TA and see.

  8. FYI,

John Heald will now put together a time and place for a M&G. The CD will show up or his assistant and there will be gifts from CCLto give away. The M&G will be placed in the Fun times. All you have to do is have someone from the group email John with the ship, date and appr how many.

Im think I am cruising with John on the Sunshine Next week out of NOLA for the US Inagural sailing. I wonder if he is going to show?

  9. From what I gathered they added 186 new cabins.

From what I physically counted looking at the diffrent plans here is where many of the diffrences are. They added 45 new cabins on Deck 5, just behind the Ocean Plaza. They added two entirely new decks in which 35 were added on Deck 11 and 25 were added on Deck 12. Then they rearranged deck 10 and added 32 new cabins there also. I guess they put a few some place else but that is a lot more cabins for keeping the same capacity, I think its more 3765. 186 cabins with 3 to 4 persons more....

Ill count them next week as I set sail from New Orleans. :-)
