  1. Greetings fellow cruisers,

I have never sailed out of Port Canaveral and feel like I need to start planning earlier than usual.  I understand it is a 45 minute ride from the airport to Port Canaveral.  Can I get suggestions on the most efficient way to get to Port Canaveral?  We plan on going a day early so we'll also need lodging.  Thanks in advance for your help.

  2. We sailed the Horizon on September 22nd.  While we were in line waiting to embark, Carnival representatives were passing out letters letting us know the sky ride would be down for the duration of our cruise.  That was very disappointing as I had my grandson traveling with us.  This was the worst embarkation experience I have ever had.  We arrived at the port at our appointed time of 11:30 AM and did not finally get on the ship until 2:30!  We stood in the sweltering heat all that time.  They were still debarking the previous cruise at 2:00PM.

Sounds like you had a better experience than us as far as the food goes.  The food in the dining room was lack luster, most of the time we left most of the food on our plates.  The lido deck food was horrible!  The best things were Guys, the pizza and the tacos.  Those were the only things we ate the entire week.  Like you, I found the staff to be awesome!

  3. We are so excited to be sailing next week on the Horizon. On our last cruise, I purchased the mid-range Wifi plan. I want to purchase a plan this time, but I'm thinking that we would only need it for the days at sea. Does anyone know if we can purchase daily plans? I don't see any reason to pay for eight days and only use the service three or four days.

  4. DH and I are planning on taking our 16 year old grandson on our September cruise for his birthday. This will be the first time taking him out of the country. For domestic trips, I always have the parents sign a letter giving me authorization to make emergency care decisions. Does anyone know if we'll need anything special or will that type of letter suffice?

  5. I seem to remember looking up certain excursions CCL offered, then going to that "operator"'s site to book the same thing. Odd, but a lot of them won't book you if you're coming on a cruise ship stating something like "This tour must be booked through your cruise line.".

(Actually Sea Trek was one of them, at the time.)

I'm not being negative. If you can get the identical tour cheaper, go for it!;)

Oddly enough, it's the Sea Trek tour I'm looking at. Love your Avatar:cool: . It looks like so much fun! However, my husband flat out vetoed the tour last night. While we were having dinner I had a sudden asthma episode. He is a respiratory professional and is concerned that if I were to have an episode while under water, it would take me too long to get to the surface for my inhaler. As much as I want to do the tour I have to agree with him. :(

  6. I was wondering if 14 days is to much on the Carnival Miracle ? I have read some bad reviews on the ship and the food. Please let me know what your thoughts are on this ship ?

You would have to be the judge yourself. Some love the ship and some hate it. I sailed her last September and 7 days was too long. I HATED the ship! I like the newer ships with all of the bells , whistles and additional food choices. The only food choices is the buffet area and I am not a buffet person. Don't trust that people are washing their hands and things floating around in the air is another issue. My saving grace was that I took a supply of protein bars for breakfast and a supply of Kind bars for when I couldn't find a decent lunch. The best food was when we were on the tours.

  7. Try sailing on a cruise that leaves San Juan the first part of December, when fares are pretty cheap and empty cabins are heavily discounted and bought up by the locals.

Our 2006 Destiny cruise was like this and we had a quad cabin on deck 1. You would have thought everyone was related to each other in that passageway! There was music, eating, games, you name it. We had to step over a lot of people.

    Security...nothing.

This exact same thing happened to us sailing out of San Juan in September a few years ago. After that experience, we (a group of 35) agreed to never sail out of SJ. It was horrible! They literally took over the ship, five generation families and the worst was how rude they were rude they were. And the strollers!!!:mad::mad: Every family had multiple strollers on board and they would push their way through with the stroller. I lost count of how many times our ankles were banged. That was before we knew about price drops. We paid a premium for the cruise and I know we should have gotten on board credits.

  8. About 7 years ago, DH and I were swinging through Lido to grab a quick dinner and the lady in front of us used the flat handled spatula to scoop up a piece of fish, sniff it and then PUT IT BACK.

I let her know that was NOT OK and she genuinely didn't get why it was a big deal.

Her words: I mean, like, I didn't lick it or anything.

    ...sigh...

And this is the reason why I HATE buffets!

  9. If you're man, put it in your pocket...if you're a woman...how do you carry a comb, lipstick, tissues? Bring a teeny purse....something small, for your "stuff"...and put your card in that. You're not at a convention...you don't need your cabin key around your neck!

I thought I was the only one who don't get the lanyard thing. My husband keeps his card in his pocket. I carry a small wristlet that holds my card and my inhaler. The only thing I want dangling around my neck is the string to my bathing suit;p;p

  10. We're booked on her in September 2018. I sure hope rjl1977 is wrong. A bunch of kids running around with no parental supervision is not my cup of tea. Don't get me wrong, I love children. Just not while I'm trying to relax and catch some sun.

  11. Miami Vice has been my go to when sitting on deck. Ahhh, I can feel the heat beaming down on me as I read a good book and listen to my music. All with a cold Miami Vice in hand. I would actually like to see this topic as a poll. I've always been curious about the other frozen drinks, but never tried them.

  12. I personally love children, I love watching them romping around and having fun. However, I no longer have young kids and when I sit pool side I like to read a good book in peace. That is not possible with little ones running and scream and doing what kids do. Too many parents let their kids run about the ship with no consideration for other passengers.

I think Carnival made this move with the feeling that passengers could go to the serenity area if they want an adults only environment. That's fine, but they need to expand the serenity area because it's not big enough.

  13. No. We can't. Because once we accept lower quality, then we have given up.

Once we accept lower quality, Carnival will lower the quality yet again.

Once we accept lower quality, then the standards will never rise.

Do not accept. Complain about the food. Complain about the lack of tablecloths. Complain about cold entrees Complain about the lack of service. Be heard.

I will not be complacent with my money. :)

I see that you'll be on the Miracle in January. Get your list ready to note all of the complaints you will have on that ship:( Worst cruise I have ever experienced! The food, the service and the ship overall.
